^What it is really.
Are you a mum/dad? Do you go by your first name? Or are you a pack leader?
We recently got a pet dog, and my kids think it's weird that the dog 'calls' dh and I mum and dad.

The dog alternates between calling me Goddess and #1 Slave.

ErrolTheDragon · 09/09/2019 17:04

Or mummmyyyy when he's being needy.

GooodMythicalMorning · 09/09/2019 17:07

mumma or mummy and dadda or daddy, depends on his mood.

zukiecat · 09/09/2019 17:09

I'm Mummy to my three cats

Or sometimes just Hoomin

wurlycurly · 09/09/2019 17:11

First trip to the vet with my puppy and the vet says “back to mummy now” and I thought “I’m not his mummy! I’m human, he’d a dog!” A month or so later I’m his mummy of course!

TweedPig · 09/09/2019 17:12

We are The Humans. My twee-tolerance is very low, so we just couldn't bring ourselves to be Mum & Dad. If she is our dog, logically we must be her humans.

howelllikethewind · 09/09/2019 17:13

I’m definitely his mummy

lorettalemon · 09/09/2019 17:15

Our Ddog knows my dad as "daddy" and me as "the girl," she will approach the right people when you say "find (whoever)" she knew other people as grandma, the boy (my ex), auntie and some people by name. She'd always go up to the right person when you said the name

QOD · 09/09/2019 17:20

I’m grandma as she’s dd’s dog. Dh is grandad and dd is just her first name - which is annoying as I could have just been mummy and then my future potential grandkids may have called me Nanna as planned ... I’ll have to be grandma or the dog will get confused.

The cat calls me fuck face - he’s of the ‘rub my belly DON’T FUCKING TOUCH ME touch me GET YOUR FUCKING HANDS OFF ME’ variety

MitziK · 09/09/2019 17:22

DTwatCats have Cat Dad and The One We Sit Against When We're Cold.

I am Mama, OH is DadDad and there is the Boy...he knows who you mean but Mama less so

TimeIhadaNameChange · 09/09/2019 17:28

My cat would be rolling her eyes at the suggestions of 'mummy' and 'daddy' here. Although my mother is definitely 'Granny' DP and I are definitely known by our first names, generally with 'my' in front. I suspect the other critters use the same.

We are their slaves, though, and incredibly stupid ones at that. My cat despairs at my lack of ability all the time!

Ddogs one and two definitely see me and dp as mater and pater... I think they think we all live in an episode of brides head revisited.
Ddog three.. Is an over enthusiastic toddler.. He just wails mummmmmmmeeeeee.... At me, usually cus other two won't play with him or have stolen his toy.

YesQueen · 09/09/2019 17:35

Mama. He said it once and I fell over myself going "GOOD BOY!!!" so now he says it at any opportunity
Quite cute really Grin

TheSmallClangerWhistlesAgain · 09/09/2019 17:37

One of my dogs is over-enthusiastic and rather thick, and calls everyone "mum", usually said over and over again. If she was a child she'd be the one who called teachers "Mum" by mistake.

NeverSayFreelance · 09/09/2019 17:46

My dog always called my mum and dad "mum and dad". They referred to me as his sister, but I didn't really go for that. I was always just my name. Although we all called him "son" so I think the genetics were a bit skewed Grin

thecatsthecats · 09/09/2019 17:50

I am Mummer to my cats.

It's not my fault they can't spell, they're cats. They do manage Daddy though.

Hiredandsqueak · 09/09/2019 17:56

I'm mummy to the dog Bella Bella Rockersmeller. Exh is Daddy and his dog is my dog's brother (although they are in no way related) Blush

Ohbuggerlugs · 09/09/2019 19:23

Mummy!

MikeUniformMike · 09/09/2019 19:25

CharlieAlphaTango calls me Ma. I call myself Mummy when talking to him.

FloraPostIt · 09/09/2019 19:33

I confessed this to my family recently and they all thought I was weird... I am Auntie Flora to my DCat. I was hoping to find another person like me on this thread. But I guess I'm alone... sigh

madcatladyforever · 09/09/2019 19:35

My cat calls me no fur. I read her mind once.

icontrolthebullshitnow · 09/09/2019 19:42

Mummy mummy mummy. To distinguish from her first human mummy who still lives over the road.
