Whats ticking?!

Didn’t know where else to post this!

There’s a ticking noise in my lounge. I don’t have a clock. I’ve investigated (on my hands and knees) and drawing a blank. Thought it might’ve been next door with a new REALLY LOUD clock but that’s unlikely isn’t it and not really coming from that direction.

Driving me insane. Any ideas?!

Pacemaker?

Originallymeonly · 06/09/2019 21:41

Your thermostat has kicked in for the first time this year and the radiator is ticking as it expands?

Singlebutmarried · 06/09/2019 21:41

Something that the battery is running out of. We had a ticking and it was one of those suitcase weighers that you hang your suitcase from.

FancifulFeathers · 06/09/2019 21:47

Running out of battery seems like a good call, but it doesn’t to get louder as I approach any toys. It’s a constant in the background.

(Radiator nope but I did sneak the heating on earlier, isn’t it cold today?!)

Is it your oven? Our gas one makes a very faint ticking sound

AdaColeman · 06/09/2019 21:51

Death Watch beetle in the rafters?

DontMakeMeShushYou · 06/09/2019 21:56

It's a spider
See this thread: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/_chat/3681415-Do-spiders-make-noise

SunshineAngel · 06/09/2019 21:57

This is random, but I have an Amazon Firestick and the remote for that ticks. I don't even know why. Also, some air fresheners that are set to spray at set times sometimes tick. Could it be either of those?

SamBeckett · 06/09/2019 22:00

I was trying to think of someones name before , maybe its my brain you can here ticking Grin

FancifulFeathers · 06/09/2019 22:01

The ticking has got faster.

If it is a spider he’s running pretty fast/wearing clumpy shoes

burnttoastandjam · 06/09/2019 22:07

It's clearly a cartoon bomb

danceswithdeath · 06/09/2019 22:07

Tinnitus?!

danceswithdeath · 06/09/2019 22:08

I only say that because one night I could hear this electrical sort of sound. I was going mad in the bedroom, turning plugs off etc. Then I got some ear plugs and noticed it was my bloody ears!! Horrible tinnitus!! I've had it a few times since and it literally drives me insane.

StyleOfTheTimes · 06/09/2019 22:09

Wearing clumpy shoes 🤣🤣 maybe he’s knitting?! Isn’t there a certain bug that ticks also? Hopefully it’s not a pipe leaking

Judashascomeintosomemoney · 06/09/2019 22:09

Have you got a water bottle with a sports top? It’s the air escaping...

Leaspr · 06/09/2019 22:09

Are you sure it’s not just your radiators cooling down after your heating went off!?

QuestionableMouse · 06/09/2019 22:12

My external hard drive sometimes makes a ticking noise.

Sparadrap · 06/09/2019 22:13

Check your bulbs. We have a reading lamp that sometimes starts ticking. It’s very annoying. It stops when we wobble the bulb.

LordBuckley · 06/09/2019 22:13

Dripping tap? Or dripping radiator?

FancifulFeathers · 06/09/2019 22:16

I’m off to investigate all these things...

OP posts:
mommybear1 · 06/09/2019 22:20

Do you have a timer plug? I'd check that

TooMinty · 06/09/2019 22:22

A) a toy your DC have left switched on
B) it's not really ticking, it's dripping...
C) spider wearing clogs knitting a scarf

Charleymouse · 06/09/2019 22:24

I hunted round my house for the source of the dripping tap noise when I got out of the shower once. It got louder then faster.
I spent about half an hour wandering round until I discovered it was me dripping milk from each breast.
Sorry if TMI but have you checked if it is you?

TooMinty · 06/09/2019 22:25

😂 Charleymouse!

Chouetted · 06/09/2019 22:31

Seconding the dripping.
