Lighthearted - to be called a “manky mare” for mopping first then vacuuming

My sister is staying at my flat for a few days while she is getting hers painted. While sharing the cleaning the other day she screeched I was a manky mare for mopping my wood floor and bathroom before vacuuming. I very calmly explained I prefer to loosen any dirt and debris then vacuum but she said it’s not how it’s done

We then called our mum to ask her who is right but her response was she was so happy we’re fighting over cleaning and not men and hung up on us. My sister then re-mopped my floor.

I know it’s not what people do but is it really that unreasonable to mop first??

Love the sound of your sister. Not only does she clean the right way round, but she also uses great phrases like ‘manky mare’.

Scone & cleaning - you’re a weirdo sorry Grin

Motherinlawsdung · 06/09/2019 21:43

Your mum is ace, your cleaning and eating habits are weird, but you pronounce scone correctly so you are a total star.

Hoover, mop, dry then hoover again if needed

Ravingstarfish · 06/09/2019 22:08

It’s cone with an s - scone not scon!

DuggeesWoggle · 08/09/2019 07:56

Don't hoover the kitchen floor - I sweep crumbs etc daily and mop when I can be arsed. Hoovering happens equally infrequently as the only carpets are on the stairs/in bedrooms so get a lot less footfall. DH tends to do the hoovering so I'm happy to wait until he cracks Grin

Plus I am clearly more of a manky mare than all of you so am troubled a lot less by a bit of dirt, and count it a victory if I have cleaned at all, let alone worrying about the order in which it's done!

I WAS 100% hoover then mop but experimented yesterday after reading this thread ...

I’m converted!! Mop then hoover.
