..... if Boris ever manages to announce when it is.

Will you stick to your usual Party or vote tactically to ensure the Brexit you believe is best for the country?

I would not vote Lib dem.
Agree 100% with happinessischocolate
They promised to scrap tuition fees for university students , got into power, then raised fees.

No spine.
Once again backing down to Cameron and the Tory government.
No, I want someone who will stand up for what they believe in..

Once again.
I'm glad JC has told BJ to go and fuck himself
I will vote labour.
My mp has been to my door.
She has also visited my dcs schhol, after being invited to give out awards.
She also raised the issue of a local academy CEO fucking off leaving the academy in dept, distracting contracts worth almost £500,000 for his own company and ones owned by his family.
The conservatives said the matter should be dropped as stealing almost £500,000 is fine and stopped my mp from insisting it become a police matter and the CEO be investigated for committing fraud.
Staff were left unpaid and wondering whether they had a job.
Don't forget BJ was caught out not declaring income as £52,000 is neither here nor there to him.
He is a millionaire born with a silver spoon up his arse.

He did not get where he is due to principles and intelligence, he got there due to priviledge.

Why not just say I do not care about anyone who has to work for a living, and be honest about it.

Failing that I would vote Green.

Piggywaspushed · 07/09/2019 07:06

Heidi Allen's seta is very interesting, though emma as it may be 'die hard Tory' but it's a Remain area. Along with places like St Alban's the voting there will be fascinating. I think Heidi is great, and if I lived there, I would vote for her.

Piggywaspushed · 07/09/2019 07:06

seat, obviously!

emilybrontescorsett · 07/09/2019 07:10

The Tories brought in academys.
I don't agree with them.

nononever · 07/09/2019 07:27

I think it is getting harder and harder to decide which party/individual to vote for.

I totally agree.

more annoyed that nicola sturgeon is wanting to push through another ‘once in a lifetime’ independence referendum!

As LagunaBubbles stated, that was from the mouth of Salmond. I was staunchly against independence first time round but if Nicola Sturgeon does manage to push for another referendum I will seriously reconsider my stance.

Reversiblesequinsforadults · 07/09/2019 09:02

This thread has thoroughly depressed me. I thought that with the latest attempted dictatorship of parliament from the Tories that people might see the importance of voting labour. How anyone without an offshore company in the Cayman islands can vote conservative is beyond me.

And lib dem... What are they actually going to do about brexit? They can't just cancel it. So they'll have another referendum. But what's going to be on the ballot paper? Leave or remain again? Or some kind of deal? How is it going to work so that people don't feel disenfranchised but they get the result they want? How?

Labour's plan is to put a choice between a deal and remain to the people. I think remain will win (eternally optimistic). But it's got to be seen to be done fairly and democratically.

I don't understand the objections to corbyn unless you really do believe in things like competition in the nhs and people with mental health issues pulling themselves up by their bootstraps. Corbyn is not antisemitic and it's absurd to think so. He simply challenges the Israeli government about injustices in Palestine. There have been a few instances in the labour party which haven't been dealt with as well as they could, but to be honest it's more of a pr matter than one of principle, racism or corruption.
I genuinely can't see any other objections.

I disagree that it's hard to know who to vote for. My labour mp is brilliant. He campaigns on domestic violence, payday loans, humane treatment of refugees, rights for EU citizens, against uc, for climate change measures... I have no difficulty in voting for him or corbyn.
I work in schools and I can see the harm that austerity has done. Families have no where to go and schools are desperately trying to pick up the pieces by feeding families breakfast, washing clothes, paying for psychologist, providing financial advice etc. Schools shouldn't be doing those things: they should be provided in the community and people should have enough money to feed themselves. Parents mental health has significantly declined and guess what... The children suffer.
Let's help our communities not leave them to go under. It costs a lot less in the end.

YahBasic · 07/09/2019 09:11

Equally my Conservative MP is brilliant for the area, she knows what the concerns are & fully represents her constituents and their wishes.

Labour’s representative has no links to the area and often appears ill-prepared & almost incompetent.

I can appreciate why others have different political opinions based on lived experience. It doesn’t depress me.

emilybrontescorsett · 07/09/2019 09:16

The point is there are an awful lot of ignorant people around.
Do your research.
Look at the facts.
If you use public services then vote got a party who will put money into those.
The conservatives are going to spend at least, and let’s face it probably more, £88 BILLION on a train.
Think about that.
£88 billion on a train which most voters will never use.
Even if you use it how can you justify spending at least £88 billion on a train.
This will desimate huge areas of natural beauty and for who’s benefit?
If you vote for that then you have no right to ever, ever complain about the nhs, your dc or grandchild’s state school , train services, us services, your roads, crime or literally anything that that huge amount of money could be spent on.
Don’t moan when your child does not get the education you think they deserve or you cannot get an appointment to see your gp.
Or nobody attends to you when you call 999.

Vote conservative and you have yourself to blame.
I oppose hs2.
I’m quite happy not to see it go ahead.
I’d much rather the money was spent within my community.

LatteLove · 07/09/2019 09:31

I am astonished that anyone would look at the complete and utter mess of Brexit, and the Tories, and think they’re the best option for running the country. Look at them!

David Cameron fucked up by calling a referendum in the first place
TM fucked up by holding a GE when she had a majority in the first place and by sucking up to the far right instead of clearly stating that it would have to be a soft Brexit due to how marginal the result was and putting them in their place
BoJo - the less said the better. I’m almost - ALMOST - feeling sorry for him. It can’t be easy to already be the worst PM in history less than a week in to the job proper.

But who honestly looks at them and thinks they’re doing or can do a decent job? They wouldn’t know a good decision if it bit them on the arse. They’re all utterly incompetent and playing at it.

Emmapeeler · 07/09/2019 09:37

HS2 is ridiculous. There needs to instead be investment in the existing cross country rail services so that, for example, the morning train from Penzance to Edinburgh doesn’t have only 3 (standing room only) rickety old carriages, when a train to London in the middle of the day from the Dorset has 12 relatively empty brand new ones.

I genuinely have no idea who to vote for in the next election. Each party I consider to have a really good policy also has a policy I consider bloody horrendous. I can’t not vote, so it will be a case of weighing up which is the least awful. I’m really struggling with my principles at the moment.

YahBasic · 07/09/2019 10:06

Technically more than one train will be running on a train line. They will conduct the review and we will see the outcomes.

There is a concern amongst industry at the moment that government has always wanted to suppress the true cost of mega projects and investment in infrastructure to appease the general public. By underreporting costs, we run the risk of no mega projects going ahead, resulting in significant parts of the country suffering due to lack of investment.

Take HPC - the local area is already benefitting hugely from this without taxpayer money involved and the impact will be felt for generations. Not merely because of the significant need for power.

emilybrontescorsett · 07/09/2019 10:25

I don’t care how many trains will run on the new line.
I don’t care if they are made from fucking gold and have servants wiping your arse when you visit the toilet.

I would much prefer government investment in providing a bus service where I live.
Yes a simple bus service.
Not too much to ask. Not even asking for a bus to run every 10 minutes just a bus to run past my house so that ds can get to work. Instead we have to tolerate buses starting after 8am and finishing by 5pm.
Even worse that the great HS2 will run straight through my friends home and business. Still not buying it.

I don’t want it.
Will vote for labour because they will stop it and if they get to be incharge, I will speak with my mp and put forward the suggestion of more busses in my area.
I have already spoken to her about this and have had a very positive response.

emilybrontescorsett · 07/09/2019 10:28

I’m sure a slice of £88 billion will ensure many people where I live will have access to better transport facilities.

Once again HS2 of no benefit to anyone I have spoken to where I live. Even those who commute to London would prefer investment in existing transport links.

Andonandonan · 07/09/2019 10:33

I have tended to vote tactically to keep the tories out (we’re in a marginal constituency where every vote counts).

However labour have been unimpressive to say the least with their (lack of) brexit policy so I think this time I am likely to choose Lib Dem’s or possibly green.

YahBasic · 07/09/2019 10:35

HS2 would hugely benefit the area I grew up in, which suffers massively from unemployment & poverty.

I’m sure those in my town will really appreciate additional buses taking them to the job centre, rather than the countless jobs HS2 is already creating for them in the supply chain.

It has also started a huge shift there in mentality around people wanting to better their lives and children continuing in education.

In my lived experience, HS2 has had an incredibly positive impact already on a deprived area, but can appreciate that that isn’t your experience.

Emmapeeler · 07/09/2019 11:16

It is good that hs2 has had a positive impact on the area it affects.

I agree with pp though about bus services, the cuts to subsidies for which (or cancellations of) are a direct impact of massive Tor spending cuts over the past ten years. Access to transport is a key factor in reducing the cost of adult social services (which are generally also now in dire straits).

ForalltheSaints · 07/09/2019 11:24

I usually vote Green but may vote Lib Dem if there is a chance of them removing my Brexit Tory.

Mr Johnson and his tactics are so disgraceful that you have no morals if you vote for the party he leads, which is Conservative in name only. If you want Brexit vote for the Brexit party.

Mrs Thatcher and Mr Churchill and Mr Peel would not have behaved like Mr Johnson.

GirlsBlouse17 · 07/09/2019 11:29

Libdem

If this is effectively going to be a rerun of the referendum, then vote Lib dems if you want to remain as they are the only party guaranteeing a way out of all this.

DerbyRacer · 07/09/2019 11:41

Where I live everyone will vote SNP. I feel like not voting but it would feel wrong to do that.

reginafelangee · 07/09/2019 11:44

I used to vote Labour.

Now I will vote either Tory or Lib Dem.

I live in Scotland do not want to end up with independence and I loathe the SNP - worse than the Tories.

Only the Tories and the Lib Dems can be trusted on the Union (as Labour are suggesting they will do deals with the SNP) so will vote for one of them.

Staying in the UK is more important to me than Brexit so its the main motivator for me.

GirlsBlouse17 · 07/09/2019 11:45

What are the other choices Derby?

GirlsBlouse17 · 07/09/2019 11:48

I think Brexit could be the deciding factor that may tip Scotland into wanting independence if there is no deal Regina

Piggywaspushed · 07/09/2019 11:52

How can you say worse than the Tories and then say you would vote Tory!? Confused
