..... if Boris ever manages to announce when it is.

Will you stick to your usual Party or vote tactically to ensure the Brexit you believe is best for the country?

For the first time in my life, I’m politically homeless. I want a country that provides opportunity and social mobility through quality healthcare and education. I also want a country that is open for business. Neither Labour nor Tories are interested in straddling that divide.

I will probably vote Lib Dem. I would’ve voted for Labour in the last GE had Corbyn not been in charge. I can’t forgive him for his pathetic referendum campaign (he’s also my MP).

Sidalee7 · 08/09/2019 09:11

Lib Dem. I live in a safe Tory seat - have always voted labour but it’s futile whereas LD stand more of a chance of getting in.
Although last time.

Sidalee7 · 08/09/2019 09:12

Posted too soon! Last time I voted LD bloody Cameron got made PM.

Wolfff · 08/09/2019 09:17

I'm voting Labour. I live in what was a very safe Tory seat that was unexpected snatched by Labour. I dislike Corbyn but I like our MP who I've known a long time and who was a brilliant local councillor.

The Tories were already stuffing election rubbish through our door this week but they can go and do one. After Grenfell and gifting local public buildings and spaces to private schools, I have utter contempt and hatred for them.

Oliversmumsarmy · 08/09/2019 09:21

Hasn't HS2 been cancelled or being put off for about 22 years

Balula · 08/09/2019 09:53

I will really struggle to decide tbh, I'm in quite a safe Tory seat anyway and although I don't agree with their policies and I am dead against Brexit and all the chaos and vicious division it's caused in the country, my local MP has been bloody brilliant in helping our family to access what we need for our disabled DS, she has spoken up in parliamentary debates, she has stepped in with the council and the school. I feel like I should vote for her because she's done her job so well but I can't fathom voting for Boris and his bully boys club.

HS2 is under review but there are far too many Tories who have their fingers in the pie for it not to go ahead.
They stand to benefit the most from this, as they have a vested interest in the companies which are used to build it.
Once again, I believe that if you propose a project like this, members of the public should have the option of deciding the route of will take.
So i 'd be quite happy for an mp who financially benefits from this, let's say they are a shareholder in x company which has secured one of the contracts, if the route went straight through the village in which they live.

Once again, the proposed, agreed route, once passed in the initial stages has been severely altered and changed.
This damages people's lives and not necessarily the lives of those who stand to benefit.
The new route will now descimate an ancient area close to where people I know live.
This is a deprived area.
Take away the only woodland and you have problems.
The young people who use that area maybe to escape their dull, pointless lives and go fishing or attend the many volcanoes which operate in the wood will cease to exist.
Do you know what happens when young, disaffected people loose the only decent outside areas they feel are theirs?
They take it out on other ways.
The local senior school, being an academy , has lost hundreds of thousands of pounds.
Organised trips which were oversubscribed and took those students who achieved their various targets which the school set, on various days out during the school holidays have been scrapped.
The only people to blame for scrapping those trips is this government who forced the school to become an academy.
So where could these students go?
Well they could go to the beautiful woodland.
Oh wait no this government is destroying that.
There is no benefit for these people from HS2 , none.
So what will these young, bored youths do now?
The school cannot do anything else for them, it is in its knees and shedding staff.

I would like to see a new route proposed which smashed straight through Tory strong holds. Destroying their parks, homes, businesses.
Oh did I mention the area I described is a Labour area?
What a coincidence!!!!!!

Yes if you are in favour of wasting £88 billion on this bloody white elephant then I suggest we 're-route it so that those who want it can pay the price for it.

Now let's not forget that whilst these young people whose area becomes a bleak noisy landscape, where house prices fall due to the location of HS2 , and the desirability to work or live there plummets, let's not forget that the number of police officers had been slashed.
So anyone who suffers from say, car theft due to the disaffected youth, will now have to suffer the consequences of the Tories cutting police funding.
So, you will not be protected by the overstretched police , your house value will plummet , you will live in a shot hole and you STILL won't benefit from the 88 billion plus spent even though you have paid for it!!!!!

Volcanoes? Should be boot camps!

Seasword · 08/09/2019 10:22

I live in a safe Conservative seat although I’m a Labour supporter. My vote will be a tactical Lib Dem vote.

Ithinkmycatisevil · 08/09/2019 10:34

Lib Dem. labour will never get in where we live, so Lib Dem to keep the tories out.

Piggywaspushed · 08/09/2019 11:48

I could honestly only ever vote on political belief and conviction. Game playing isn't my bag. However, I have never lived in a marginal, so it's easy for me to say.

Interesting polls in the ST today.
