I really want to start taking photos again with them ... but can you even get them developed anymore?

OP posts:
Delilah2019 · 05/09/2019 21:53

Hahahahaha amazing reply 😂😂😂

ChardonnaysDistantCousin · 05/09/2019 21:54

Oh FFS, no one cares about your photos and no one apart from you will ever look at them anyway.

EggysMom · 05/09/2019 21:57

A long day of alcohol consumption is not conducive to thought-provoking, beautifully composed photography.

So you didn't appreciate the artistic endeavours that we put into those photos of the fire extinguishers, close-ups of flowers, and angled shots of the chandeliers? Grin

Is this some kind of retro trend? Because I'll never go back to those crappy disposable cameras. A decent 35mm SLR perhaps, but it doesn't suit our needs just now (multi-shot to capture fleeting smiles).

colourlessgreenidea · 05/09/2019 22:01

Ah, so that was YOU, was it?! Grin

newyearoldme · 05/09/2019 22:04

You can get apps that make your phone pictures look like they were taken with crappy film on disposable cameras.

Cassilis · 05/09/2019 22:21

Is Huji a low rent version of Fuji 🤔

Not very original.

zxcvhjkl · 05/09/2019 23:07

OP what is it about the "trend" that you like? Genuine question. Because I see you say you like the way the photos look, but an app can do that and more as PP's have pointed out and it seems like a good alternative.

Some disposable camera company somewhere has clearly paid Gigi et al to try and make them a relevant again. I'm 99.9999999999999999% sure that it isn't going to happen this millenium.

BogglesGoggles · 05/09/2019 23:10

You can easily develop film yourself at home.

BogglesGoggles · 05/09/2019 23:12

@zxcvhjkl film gives photographs a really different quality. I much prefer it (through a proper camera though) to digital. Somehow there is more depth in the colour that you’d get with your average dslr camera (forget about phone cameras and app editing, nowhere near the real thing).

ChardonnaysDistantCousin · 05/09/2019 23:15

That’s true, Boggles, but you dint need a trendy disposable camera for this.

Frankly, anyone who cares about threads isn’t very likely to care about depth of colour and shutter speed.

zxcvhjkl · 05/09/2019 23:44

@BogglesGoggles I appreciate that film is superior. What I'm not understanding is why OP can't put some film into a camera and have photos developed, rather than using a whole disposable camera which lacks any additional features one can find on a camera.

The OP specifically stated they like the disposable camera trend and linked to Vogue. I'm just trying to understand why specifically, so that a suitable alternative can be suggested in the hope that OP can consider to stop this mindless consumption.

If the thread was "AIBU to like taking photos using film" I think the responses might have been very different.

I also suspect the OP likes the trend because it's a trend and trends are trendy for trendy people who like trends

BadLad · 05/09/2019 23:49

I sometimes use them if I'm going on a night out involving huge amounts of alcohol. Nothing to do with the look of the photo. It soesn't matter if the disposable gets lost or smashed.

Kokeshi123 · 06/09/2019 01:00

What zxcvhjkl said.

RavenLG · 06/09/2019 01:28

People who want to use their mobile phone to take a photo of a printed photo certainly doesn’t care about the finer details of photography.

Don’t you know the word hun is banned here OP!? Did you mean to post on netmums?

Download HUJI and get original ideas for your insta which won’t make you a social media star or rich

motherheroic · 06/09/2019 09:06

People are honestly upset because someone wants to do a bit of film photography? Phone cameras will never truly give you the feel of film.

If you don't intend on doing it as a long term hobby there is nothing wrong with buying a cheap disposable and asking the developer for the camera body back so you can recycle it.

ChardonnaysDistantCousin · 06/09/2019 09:12

That’s not what OP wants though.

She liked the look of using bright disposable cameras as a fashion accessory and wants to present it as something worth following by others.

colourlessgreenidea · 06/09/2019 09:17

No, no one is upset because of that.

PeevedNiamh · 06/09/2019 09:21

*@MmmBlowholes

"shut up about plastic"

For fucks sake how selfish and ignorant can you be? Move to the fucking sun.*

This ^^

cakesandphotos · 06/09/2019 09:27

I despair. I really do. And just so you know, "environmental warriors" are people to be praised and not ridiculed. No one will be laughing when everyone's lungs are full of micro plastics

The "trend" (if it even is that) is for polaroid pictures not disposable camera pictures.

I didn’t realise how on trend you are. Guess you should contact Vogue to alert them to this fact.

Are you always such a fucking sheeple?

MustardScreams · 06/09/2019 10:15

Move to the fucking sun

This is the best insult, and I will be stealing it Grin

MyLucifrr · 06/09/2019 10:43

Oh my goodness. People on here are honestly tapped.
Anyone that took my lighthearted joke about working for HUJI needs to take a deep breath and untwist their panties.

I don’t think I’m a social media star. I could buy and post a million disposable photos and I don’t think I would wake up to social media stardom. Although the money would be amazing, it definitely has a very dark side that would spiral my depression and anxiety - not a life worth living. I just like the effect, it’s got a vintage feel and reminds me of photos I took as a child. They also looked different to a phone photo with a filter slapped on it.

I do get 5K likes on my photos though (- just saying this to wind up the grumps even more, despite it being true Grin )

Anyways ... I’m off now to buy the cameras, not bother taking photos and just chuck them straight in the bin. I’m also gonna go feed straws to some turtles 🐢

OP posts:
Howlovely · 06/09/2019 10:57

I think there's a big difference between how funny, witty, light hearted and 'on point' you think you are and how you come across. Which isn't terribly well, FYI.
Enjoy your trendy disposable camera. Do let us know if you'd like us to Google where you can get the pictures developed for you.

BeepBeeeep · 06/09/2019 10:58

Feed straws to turtles? Tsk amateur!
You would be better off scooping the turtle out of its shell and making a soup with it before pouring it back into its shell and drinking it via the straw.
Kids these days, useless!

( I am joking before anyone comes after me with pitchforks...I actually adore turtles )🐢🐢🐢

MyLucifrr · 06/09/2019 11:06

HowLovely you are an exceptionally odd creature with a very large ego. Don’t stab yourself with your metal straw will you?
