Londoners tried to warn the rest of the country about Boris

BJs performance yesterday was woeful. He’s a terrible public speaker and when his blustering and attempts at jokes, throwing in some Kipling, war rhetoric and Latin with arms flailing didn’t work, he sat sulking like a schoolboy.

He was lazy and boorish as London mayor. How on earth did he manage to convince Tory members that he would make a good PM? He thought he was entitled to the top job but was seriously found out yesterday.

Seems like Cummings isn’t the strategic genius he hyped himself up to be and JRMs disrespectful performance deserves its its own thread. BJs picked a team of liabilities. Theresa May must have laughed herself to sleep last night.

And yet I'm 'wrong' everytime I said boris is an idiot and not as intelligent as some think. He is a complete buffoon. We are a total laughing stock now to the rest of Europe and the world no doubt. Although the USA can't judge us.

sneta · 04/09/2019 06:46

I seriously recognise the outright arrogance and extreme self confidence of an Eton education in him, whilst in reality it has no substance. I have acquaintances just like him, all old Etonians...

Whatsername7 · 04/09/2019 06:51

Sadly, we had no say in his ascension to leadership. I actually despair.

MaggietheHorseThief · 04/09/2019 06:53

He looked like a man who had lost control last night - glowering, frustrated, blustering.

I think it shows how much his previous 'likeable' public persona has been predicated on him getting what he wants. When he faces opposition, he has no sense of how to handle it and he looks juvenile and out of his depth.

I actually do still think he's a clever man - but he lacks other traits which are vital for leadership. He's too thin-skinned, he doesn't respect the democratic process, he has fallen into the dangerous trap of always thinking he's the cleverest person in the room, he's sulky and hot tempered and undignified.

hidinginthenightgarden · 04/09/2019 06:54

It's not like we didn't listen and voted him in!

boatyardblues · 04/09/2019 06:57

Theresa May must have laughed herself to sleep last night.

For some reason, this is a rather pleasing image.

Squirrelblanket · 04/09/2019 07:02

'Londoners tried to warn the rest of the country'? Eh?

'The rest of the country' didn't vote him in. What a bizarre title for a thread! Confused

tttigress · 04/09/2019 07:04

Yeah, but hold on London voted for him twice, which is actually very unusual because London is really a Tory city, so where is the "London tried to warn"?

adaline · 04/09/2019 07:07

How could London try to warn anyone? They're the ones who voted him in as Mayor - he's not PM because the rest of the country picked him Confused

Tellmetruth4 · 04/09/2019 07:11

I didn’t say the rest of the county voted for him. I said in the OP the Tory members did. However, I recall many Londoners including myself warning the rest of the country what to expect as he was a lazy, blustering mayor, that’s not the same as saying all non Londoners voted for him.

Londoners tried to warn the rest of the country

Eh? In what form did this ‘warning’ take?
I’m a non- London bumpkin and have always known BJ was a tosser. Couldn’t believe Londoners voted for him to be mayor to be honest. Especially twice! Guess I should have tried to warn them.
Plus do you think the rest of the country have voted for him to be PM? That’s not how it works. We’re as disgusted as you ‘Londoners’ are.

areyoubeingserviced · 04/09/2019 07:12

Every time they refer to Boris Johnson as PM, I cringe internally
He is an absolutely joke and I feel ashamed of our country .
Whatever ones political affiliations, whether one is remain or leave one can not deny that Boris is nothing but an opportunist whose arrogance is shocking.

SoyDora · 04/09/2019 07:12

I don’t recall any Londoners coming up to me to ‘warn’ me about him. If they had I’d have said ‘yeah I know he’s a twat, can’t believe you all voted for him to be mayor’.

IncognitaIgnorama · 04/09/2019 07:13

Was this when they re-elected him to be Mayor for a second term?

happycamper11 · 04/09/2019 07:18

Up here in Scotland we've never had any doubts over BJ's unsuitability for PM, what a lazy, blustering, lying toe rag he is. Why do you think you were the one to impart that info.. and that we haven't listened (as if we didn't already know). Strange comment!

BouleBaker · 04/09/2019 07:23

Well Tellmetruth4 he was my MP before he was London Mayor and I personally warned ALL of London not to vote for him, but would you listen? Pshaw.

HeronLanyon · 04/09/2019 07:28

I spent several years of my life centrally involved in scrutiny of and opposition to the garden bridge debacle. Can’t think of many, if anyone at all, less suited to leadership or any position of political, financial etc responsibility.

TheAlternativeTentacle · 04/09/2019 07:32

You don't have to be a Londoner to work out that Boris is a useless buffoon.

Whatever makes you think you 'warned' us - this wasn't up to 'us'...

ScreamingValenta · 04/09/2019 07:36

I don't understand the thread title at all. What form did this London warning take? And why do you think people in other regions wouldn't have seen for themselves what Boris is like, just by reading the news?

DontForgetToDeadhead · 04/09/2019 07:38

Londoners were the only people who actually voted the idiot in. It was very clear what he was even prior to his becoming mayor.

RushianDisney · 04/09/2019 07:47

Us Londoners warned everyone did we? Grin Come off it.

Londoners warned the Tory membership, who seemed in love with him.

The London Mayor has very little power to do much but enough to show if they are financially responsible.

Anyway I've ended up with more respect for some Tory MPs who lost the whip including one who has shown me he is a racist bigot whose constituency I use to live in.

SwiftAnchor · 04/09/2019 07:58

By that theory Scotland have been trying to warn the uk for decades. We consistently never vote for the shit show we end up part of!! Hmm

Saddler · 04/09/2019 07:59

I voted for him. And would again.
