Prince Harry saying "we can all do better" has really irked me- aibu?! He has every want and need satisfied while the majority of us and trying to do right by the environment whilst making ends meet. He is becoming very sanctimonious!

I imagined a “tin hat” to be something similar to what an air raid warden might have worn during WW2. But hey ho.

NoTheresa · 09/09/2019 20:55

Haven’t seen Pippa out and about for ages. Strange. I think she might have painted herself into a rather dull corner.

IcedPurple · 09/09/2019 20:56

Pippa's married to a very rich man and enjoys all the perks of being royal adjacent with none of the restrictions. Sounds like a pretty sweet deal if you're into that sort of thing.

This from a couple of weeks ago is the definition of merching: paps just happened to catch Pippa “out for a walk” and the dress and name of the dress designer are the main focus of the article.

Could very well be, but what ever happened to "Apparently in tinhat land no one ever wears an item of clothing without taking some kind of dodgy under the table payment to do so"? Only a few posts back you were claiming that only 'tinhats' believe 'merching' exists, and now this?

Only that hypocritical tinhats think every single time whatever woman they’re targeting breathes it’s “merching.”

Nice try at backpeddling, but that isn't what you said. At all.

JamieFraser'sArse, I had no idea what a 'tin hat' was (apart from war headgear), and I am fairly classless. I googled it:

"Tinhats are people who believe ridiculous stories. They are low level paranoid people with no real understanding of science or research."

Nice to know I am not a tin hat.

The Middletons likely know how this works. Poops gets all the stuff/merch deals and Kate can wear it too, if she’s interested. I’d suspect Kate was merching when she was single, with Issa specifically.

MangoFeverDream · 09/09/2019 23:50

Errr....Pippa that is 😅

BertrandRussell · 10/09/2019 06:55

“She doesn’t understand her Royal role and she doesn’t care about ordinary women”
“Well, a big bit of the royal role is to be the patron of various charities- and she is the patron of these charities , which all work for ordinary, disadvantaged women”
“Oh, charities- patronage doesn’t mean much- and she only picked those to look “woke””

BertrandRussell · 10/09/2019 07:01

And if she was constantly blundering and misstepping, surely there would be a few more examples, and there would be no need to rehash the same ones over and over again?

Boysey45 · 10/09/2019 08:29

Has anyone on here actually met PH in real life and does he come over as a total wanker and dimwit?

Sconesat4 · 10/09/2019 08:56

How do people work out the harry is a dimwit I wonder? The fact that he didn't shine at Eton? How many of us on MN would be top performers at Eton or equivalent school for women I wonder? Not many, I suspect.
He seems far from a dimwit to me. Educational qualifications are not everything and it is snobbery to suggest they are. Remember Diana only had one O Level, but I don't think she was a dimwit at all.
Wanker seems a little unfair too. He is trying his best to make a difference , not just be a figurehead Prince. M and H may be making some blunders, but I don't think that means he is either a dimwit or a wanker.
Harry is supposed to have done very well in the Army before he was forced to leave.

RasberryRoyale · 10/09/2019 09:04

My ex worked with Harry in the army. He said he was one of the lads. William on the other hand he said when he spent time with him, was the polar opposite and was a bit of a twat.

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 10/09/2019 09:06

I really hate seeing Harry described as dim. It's bordering on bullying. Call him out for what he says and does, but not for something which (a) may not be true and (b) he can't help.

SamanthaBrique · 10/09/2019 09:09

@Boysey45 Yes I actually have met him, through his work around HIV. Only briefly but he was affable and seemed genuinely engaged. He also knew his stuff around the issue and didn't come across as dim.

LaurieMarlow · 10/09/2019 09:09

Harry’s not academic. The point about Eton is that he had access to the best teaching that money could buy and his results were disappointing to say the least.

However I agree that doesn’t mean he’s not intelligent. Or that he doesn’t have skills that are far more important than book learning.

I think he’s actively looking for a purpose / project and struggling. The Invictus stuff was great. Climate change though isn’t a good direction for him.

nononever · 10/09/2019 09:09

He's hardly a dimwit if he got his licence to fly Apache choppers.

BertrandRussell · 10/09/2019 09:09

To be fair, he’s unlikely to be particularly academic if Eton couldn’t get him decent A levels.

But that doesn’t mean he’s dim. At all.
