Prince Harry - AIBU?

Prince Harry saying "we can all do better" has really irked me- aibu?! He has every want and need satisfied while the majority of us and trying to do right by the environment whilst making ends meet. He is becoming very sanctimonious!

OP posts:

They are both pretty low figures.
I would put Harry’s status as along the same lines as princess Anne’s who under took 518 public engagements last year and is the hardest working royal. She is much better value to the public purse than Harry and you would be hard pushed to find her making a public gaff.

BertrandRussell · 08/09/2019 09:47

“And next, assuming they don't jet off anywhere else in the meantime, a taxpayer funded jolly across the world to Africa to show them what exactly? ”
That is “work” for the Royal Family! How do you feel about William and Kate’s forthcoming tour of Asia?

Caucho · 08/09/2019 09:51

Unfair I meant. Being a bit of pushy social climber isn’t so bad to what he’s rumoured to have done. And Megan is no worse than every other famous virtue signalling hypocrite celebs. People are just pissed that she’s brought that culture into the Royal family when they’re supposed to at least ‘appear’ above it. Also doesn’t help ditching all the traditions and staff for Harvey Weinsteins publicists. It’s like sticking 2 fingers up to everyone and she doesn’t seem to care about the image being cast on them

JeansNTees · 08/09/2019 09:51

Bertrand, I feel the same about W&K's trip. Bad for the environment & completely unnecessary.

JeansNTees · 08/09/2019 09:53

Only difference being, William and Kate haven't told us that we "all can do better" with the environment, while flying the globe.

Hippo, the press could "smear" many of the royals more if they wanted I'm sure. But Harry is making it extremely easy with his sense of entitlement to do whatever he chooses, along with his soapbox preaching on the environment. Maybe "We can all do better" was aimed at his own family of royals, although Princess Anne would do the biggest eyeroll at that I'd hope.

BertrandRussell · 08/09/2019 09:59

“Only difference being, William and Kate haven't told us that we "all can do better" with the environment, while flying the globe.”

Well, yes they did, actually.

Caucho · 08/09/2019 10:01

Good point on Kate. The press hated the lazy upstart but Megan has made her look good in comparison and now they fawn over her. I’m not going to diss Zara though.

An whilst I’m not pretending to be in the know, like you said Charlie boy did a lot more than have a trust with Camilla. Proper shagger. William has similar accusations but won’t be found in the UK based press

BertrandRussell · 08/09/2019 10:01

“Bertrand, I feel the same about W&K's trip. Bad for the environment & completely unnecessary.“
I agree. But you only commented- as do the media- on Harry and Meghan.

nononever · 08/09/2019 10:01

I like Zara, she does come across quite grounded plus her children get to run around and get mucky. I saw her brother and wife yesterday at Braemar Gathering, along with Her Maj, Charles and Camilla. Of course they arrived in style but they genuinely seem to enjoy the gathering and staying in Scotland in general. They get to go about their day to day business and no-one bothers them up here.

JacquesHammer · 08/09/2019 10:01

One of William’s many quotes on the environment:-

“The clock is ticking towards a tipping point when the impact of what we are doing will become dangerously irreversible.

“We have a responsibility and obligation to the next generation to drastically reduce the extent to which we plunder the world’s natural resources.”

JeansNTees · 08/09/2019 10:02

OK Bertrand, quite right. The royal family is a parasite and needs to be done with and over. They are not needed and as France has proven, tourism goes on after royalty just fine. We don't need people (literally) lording it over us and telling us what we're doing wrong while they do worse. I'm OK with the idea of no royalty.

BertrandRussell · 08/09/2019 10:03

“Megan has made her look good in comparison and now they fawn over her. I’m not going to diss Zara though
Correction. The Press have made her look good in comparison to Meghan. Meghan has done absolutely nothing that Kate hasn’t done. And why not diss Zara?

Caucho · 08/09/2019 10:06

Come on now. Let’s just look at Wimbledon where Tindall and Zara are watching next to the general crowd (ok not general but celebs) compared to Megan and her 40 odd roped off seats to herself

BertrandRussell · 08/09/2019 10:08

“Megan and her 40 odd roped off seats to herself” A story denied by everyone involved except the Daily Mail! Grin

Isn’t Zara paid megabucks to be a part time racing advisor to some billionaire?

Daisypie · 08/09/2019 10:14

The thing about Anne is that she has worked incredibly hard for decades without once telling people how to live or seeking Instagram likes.

BertrandRussell · 08/09/2019 10:16

Once again it does rather depend on your definition of “working hard”....

Dontsweatthelittlestuff · 08/09/2019 10:19

Zara has not been given a royal residence. She lives at Gatcombe park which is the private home of princess anne which was bought privately by the queen and gifted to princess anne and her then husband mark Philips. Princess anne has owned Gatcombe park since 1976 and it has never been part of the royal estates.

BertrandRussell · 08/09/2019 10:20

“Zara has not been given a royal residence.“
She is trading on her royal status to get lots of money as a “consultant” though!

So why were they all empty? Never seen the that before and Royals attending Wimbledon isn’t exactly a rare event. Shot myself in the foot about Zara though as it appears she wasn’t in the Royal box due to some under the radar paid engagement for her sponsors Rolex :).

I don’t hate Megan. She seemed to be do a lot of charity stuff before it was ‘cool’ to do so seems genuinely caring. Just think this celeb stuff and suddenly being jumped on by A listers arse kissing keen to get a foothold with the Royals has went to her head.

I personally think she was crazy to join that circus and couldn’t think of anything worse. Ok she probably wouldn’t have become a Hollywood superstar but was probably still very highly paid working on the likes of suits with the benefits of fame and some fortune with none of the downsides of the shit show she’s now in. She’s basically has to retire and give up a cushy career to be Harrys wife
