Prince Harry saying "we can all do better" has really irked me- aibu?! He has every want and need satisfied while the majority of us and trying to do right by the environment whilst making ends meet. He is becoming very sanctimonious!

They have a young baby and have just moved into a beautiful house in Windsor Great Park done up to the 9s with a multi-million pound renovation. Why not just enjoy the summer in their lovely new home? It is not as if Archie was begging to go to Spain and France.

I see Meghan is off gallivanting on her own to NY to watch her mate Serena play tennis but it's all okay, she's flying commercial. NY Jolly

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 06/09/2019 13:53

I thought she had ‘gone back to work’?

NoTheresa · 06/09/2019 14:04

God, she is tiresome.

sue51 · 06/09/2019 14:21

A bit daft of her to fly off to watch her friend when there's so much criticism of her and PH.

nononever · 06/09/2019 14:26

I thought she had ‘gone back to work’?

Next week punting her fashion collection.

FromEden · 06/09/2019 16:26

Hey I thought we all need to "do better" and stop taking unnecessary airplane trips?

HeadsDownThumbsUpEveryone · 06/09/2019 16:31

Hey I thought we all need to "do better" and stop taking unnecessary airplane trips?

Grin Grin Grin

Do you think either of them actually understand the word hypocrite or irony?

ALongHardWinter · 06/09/2019 16:38

Well maybe he should try setting a good example. It strikes me that he has a 'Do as I say,not as I do' attitude.

cakeisalwaystheanswer · 06/09/2019 16:39

The climate change couple really are beyond parody. It is a tennis match available to watch live on Prime so this would be a fantastic opportunity to show the world that there are technological alternatives to travel.

IcedPurple · 06/09/2019 20:34

Iced I started by saying it's their perception.

Yes and their perception of themselves is that they are way more important, itneresting and sepcial than they actually are.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 06/09/2019 20:38

Well maybe they are doing their bit. Cutting back to only 2 flights a week instead of 3.

contentedsoul · 06/09/2019 20:40

like father like son
His dad once lectured the UK population on being Greener, then climbed into his petrol guzzling Aston Martin

Span1elsRock · 06/09/2019 20:46

PH and MM really need to get some decent advisors on board.

Kate and Will do exactly the same with private flights, they're just clever enough to have people covering their tracks and not making a song and dance about having celeb/rich mates with private jets.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 06/09/2019 20:48

He’s turning Princess Margaret...

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 06/09/2019 20:52

In his "We can all do better" speech Harry went on to say (in respect of our individual environmental impact) that the question was what we can do to balance out our impact.

To which I would say, "If you really want to make a difference you could offset the impact of everyone who can't afford to do so, before your own. But then that would mean you couldn't swan off to NY on a whim."

The hypocrisy is staggering.

IcedPurple · 06/09/2019 21:13

Buck Palace has said that the cost of offsetting Haz' flight to Amsterdam was covered by the Travelyst partners, ie non-British commercial entities such as Booking.com

You'd have to wonder what other sweeteners these companies are offering to Haz for his participation. Public servants who are funded by the taxpayer should not be getting kickbacks from profit making companies.

CatherineOfAragonsPrayerBook · 06/09/2019 23:06

Well maybe they are doing their bit. Cutting back to only 2 flights a week instead of 3

Maybe they've been watching those Tesco ads and taking them literally. You know "Every little helps"

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 07/09/2019 07:52

I just heard on R4 that they had been invited to Balmoral with the Queen but were ‘errrr too busy’. The perils of living in the private eye...

I can't imagine her liking Balmoral, it's probably and bit rough and ready for her tastes, it's quite rustic. We're off to see Her Maj and Co at the Braemar Gathering later today. No-one bats an eyelid at the royals up here, they can wander freely amongst Joe public if they so wish.

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 07/09/2019 08:07

I expect HM is pretty laid back about who visits and who doesn't. It's not like she's got to plan the catering Grin

diddl · 07/09/2019 08:12

" then climbed into his petrol guzzling Aston Martin"

Hasn't he had that altered so that it runs on something else?

Or maybe that was made up PR?

nononever · 07/09/2019 08:23

Hasn't he had that altered so that it runs on something else?

Yeah wine Grin. www.townandcountrymag.com/society/tradition/a24883994/prince-charles-car-aston-martin-runs-on-wine/

Dongdingdong · 07/09/2019 08:32

Harry and Meghan have now hired an American PR firm called Sunshine Sachs, according to reports. It’s unheard of for the royal family to use external PR companies to assist with their publicity apparently.

Mind you, it’s only been reported in the redtops as far as I can see, so no idea if it’s actually true or not.

IcedPurple · 07/09/2019 08:44

It is true.

Sunshine Sachs represents Harvey Weinstein (nice huh?) and is known for going after people on social media. So hold on to your seatbelts and watch for threads getting zapped!

And I'm also curious as to why relatively minor members of the royal family need to be represented by a heavy-hitting PR firm. None of the others feel the need. What's so special about these two?
