To be heartbroken the summers finished

I don't want my kids to go back to school, I've loved living in this halcyon bubble and I'm heartbroken it's ending. Their childhood feels like a whisper in time, I just want to press pause for a while.

I must be the only one who used to practically physically run mine to school and throw them through the gates after the hols. 😂

Bring on school and college I say!! Whilst my two have been no problem over the holidays (17 and 12 so they do their own thing), I work from home and love it just being me here when I'm working. When they were both younger, I couldn't wait to get them back.

But fed up that summer is over though. We live in a holiday town and it's been really buzzing here this year and the weather has been brilliant.

I agree. I’ve loved the summer holidays. No fixed routine and no rushing about.

I do work - although did less over the holidays - but just not having to do school run while getting out to work makes mornings more relaxed.

I worked out I only have six more summer holidays to go before all the kids have finished school! Two are already adults so have had a lot of summer holidays over the years
Lol.

Mine are 9 and 6 and I think this is the first year I've felt sad at the end of the holidays. With working and then spending 2 weeks with their dad I feel like we've hardly had a chance to do anything together.

I appreciate every season for what it is, and it's why I like living in the UK. I don't like very hot weather and by the end of August I've had enough of summer.

September is always a fresh start and is a better time to start new things than January, IMO.

I'm not heartbroken but do feel very flat and a bit depressed. I love having them home and summer holidays are the best. Back on the treadmill now. It's rubbish.
