If we have a General Election?

How many of you would vote Labour if we had a General Election, just wondering as there have been a few negative comments on here about Labour recently

OP posts:
Eve · 02/09/2019 16:04

Tories have lost my vote - going Lib Dem.

Lim Dem may have sold out under Clegg - but Tories under Boris are doing much worse!

MerryChristmasHarry · 02/09/2019 16:04

The Tories have won one GE during that period bluntness, in 2015. They were the largest minority party in 2010 and 2017, losing their majority in the latter. Arguments that 2010 was a technical victory have some legitimacy, since the sitting government was unseated and they did go on to be the senior coalition party for 5 years. So if you were saying it should be viewed as 1.5 to 2, I'd get you. 2017, however, was nothing remotely resembling a Tory victory.

Darkbendis · 02/09/2019 16:07

SNP

Bluntness100 · 02/09/2019 16:07

And we do realise that whatever form of brexit is arrived at under the tories, we say good-bye to the NHS??

Again eh? They are not eradicating the nhs. That's ludicrous.

Merry it was still technically a victory. They won. They are noted officially as having won. If you look at the official records from 2001 then labour won two and Tory three.

InsertFunnyUsername · 02/09/2019 16:09

Labour for me.

I would never vote tories.

M3lon · 02/09/2019 16:10

essex and milk don't you worry that if there is absolutely nothing a party could do that would change your mind about voting for them/not voting for them, then you might be voting for the wrong reasons?

Shouldn't what they propose to do if elected at least carry the possibility of making a difference?

I've voted for 3 different parties in my life..and my vote this time will be based on who is most likely to help deliver the Brexit result I would prefer to see.

BarbaraStrozzi · 02/09/2019 16:11

Fuck knows. Trying to decide what is the least bad option.

Labour - can't stand Corbyn, don't trust McDonnell not to cause the economy to tank, hate the antisemitism, hate the fact that they don't believe women's rights are important. But my MP is a decent Labour moderate with a very good track record (and so popular in the constituency that I think Momentum would have a tough job deselecting him).

Lib Dems - not only do they not believe women's rights are important, they are actively aggressive towards any woman who raises concerns. Also they are so committed to Remain that I don't think they can see any issues with Europe at all (whereas talking to colleagues and friends, I'd say a lot of people are actually somewhere in the middle - Remain but with serious reservations about the way the Commission is run, or Leave but EFTA membership).

Ditto Greens on women's rights.

Clearly not Brexit Party.

Nor Tory - their track record indicates they don't care about the poor at all and are happy to shit on them from a great height. Nor do I trust their promises about the NHS one little bit. And I think most of their education policies have been disasterous.

Can we have a box for "Reopen Nominations?"

I do take the pragmatic view that one should vote for the least worst option, but I'm really struggling to see here what is the least worst option.

InsertFunnyUsername · 02/09/2019 16:12

Maybe I could vote for stormzy, he was quick and straight to the point...

MerryChristmasHarry · 02/09/2019 16:12

Noted officially as having won where? How did they technically win? They went on to form a minority government with an arrangement, which is not the same thing.

Jins · 02/09/2019 16:12

I’ll vote for whoever has the best chance of beating the tories.

ifonly4 · 02/09/2019 16:13

I'm in a very safe conservative seat as well, MP Brexiteer and strong leave presence in area, so not really any point in voting, but I will. I feel Brexit needs to happen sooner rather than later, but need to weigh it all up before making a final decision, probably consider LibDem/Green.

Macca84 · 02/09/2019 16:14

I'd vote Labour. Though it would be in the hope that Corbyn won't be party leader for much longer!

Milicentbystander72 · 02/09/2019 16:15

These type of threads will never give any picture really.

No-one ever (or hardly ever) admits to voting Tory. Every time the Tories have won an election no one has apparently ever voted for them 🤷🏻‍♀️.

In my life I've voted -

Plaid Cymru
Labour x 2
Lib Dem x 2
And I will admit to voting Tory last time (because I stupidly believed TM would be a lot stronger than she turned out to be).

My current seat is a safe Labour seat. I always vote but like PP, no matter what I vote Labour will always get in.
Personally I won't be voting Labour this time, probably Lib-Dem for me or an Independent if anyone bothers putting up a candidate.

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 02/09/2019 16:18

millicent

Ive voted tories before 3 times maybe...not sure I’d have to look at when the elections were

But its been lib dem for the last couple

I don’t think I’ll ever vote tory again

muddledmidget · 02/09/2019 16:20

I'm a floating voter, have voted LibDem and Labour in the past. Have never voted Tory. Would consider it this time as live in Oliver Letwins constituency and feel he is constructively trying to avoid no deal (although he is not due to stand again and may be thrown out the party this week). So either Oliver Letwin or a unite to remain candidate for me

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 02/09/2019 16:21

Not actually sure who I’ll vote for

Having said that, as long as there are stupid fucking people that believe the only way to vote should be based on brexit views it’ll have to be the sodding lib dems

ethelfleda · 02/09/2019 16:25

I will vote for whichever party will be able to get us out of Brexit. I will even go with whatever the general consensus is so my vote isn’t wasted. I’m pissed off with Labour and Corbyn but would still vote for them if I thought it would get us out of this Brexit mess. Basically - all morals and precious political opinions would be set aside.
There will be other general elections - other chances to vote on other pressing matters but only one chance to potentially stop Brexit.

SummerSun10 · 02/09/2019 16:26

I usually vote conservative, but I'd vote Lib Dem this time. I would never vote Labour!

CacenCrunch · 02/09/2019 16:32

I would vote tactically to get us out of leaving EU if poss

SallyWD · 02/09/2019 16:34

I would vote Labour.

FreyaMountstuart · 02/09/2019 16:34

My postal vote will be for my (very good) local labour MP

Letsdoanamechangeagain · 02/09/2019 16:40

My seat is marginal.
I'll vote for who ever will keep the Tories out. Labour in at the moment, but lib dems made huge gains at the locals so I'm worried the remain vote will split between Lab and LD and the Tories will get back in...

WhatHaveIFound · 02/09/2019 16:44

I'm normally a LibDem voter though i'm going for tactical voting just to get our smug Conservative MP out. Last time we managed to get his previous several thousand majority down to a few hundred.

Ultimately i'll vote for whoever gives us the best chance of staying in Europe!

Drabarni · 02/09/2019 16:47

I wouldn't need to vote. Historical strong labour hold with 69.3% voting leave.

MilkTrayLimeBarrel · 02/09/2019 16:48

M3lon - I do and always have agreed with most Conservative policies - I do not agree with the idea of socialism and the taking away of wealth from one sector to give to another. That is why I do not and never would vote Labour.
