If we have a General Election?

How many of you would vote Labour if we had a General Election, just wondering as there have been a few negative comments on here about Labour recently

OP posts:
averylongtimeago · 02/09/2019 14:46

My local mp is a Tory - he is loathsome.
I will vote tactically to get rid of him and hopefully this disastrous government.

At the moment that looks like labour- and I actually like the local candidate.

I'm not keen on Corbyn, but he won't be around for much longer.
Unlike Brexit.

Samcro · 02/09/2019 14:54

I would vote labour.
hope it happens soon so we can get rid of the clowns we have now

Clementara21 · 02/09/2019 14:55

I usually vote Labour, but through a hatred of the Tories rather than a love of Labour - this seat has swung between the two in recent elections.
This time, I would again vote for whoever is most likely to keep the Tories out and avoid a no deal Brexit (or ideally, avoid Brexit full stop). It's not so clear now, due to a recent defection.
My real instinct is to vote Green but there's no point in doing that where I live.

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 02/09/2019 14:57

Literally no point in me voting. Like ever. And that pisses me off. We live in such a safe conservative seat that it makes no difference as to who I vote for

Same

Ds1 on the other hand lives somewhere were they had less than 50 votes between the top two parties...so he vote definitely make a difference

bellabasset · 02/09/2019 14:59

I will vote tactily to get rid of our awful Tory MP, in Cornwall which was traditionally Lib Dem till Farage's party took votes.

Vladimir is obviously remembering May's parting shot at Corbyn at the end of her last PMQs where she suggested he followed her lead and resigned.

KennDodd · 02/09/2019 15:01

@Rufusthebewilderedreindeer

Have c&p what I wrote to the other poster. It is always important to vote.

There is a point in you voting. If parties/candidates receive below a certain percentage of the vote they lose their deposit (£500 I think). The Tories almost never Lose their deposit, this put them in an even better financial position than their rivals. So, even if you know the person you want won't win it's still always worth voting. Number of votes received also translates into TV exposure (there are rules about this) that's why Nigel Farage was on Question Time so much.

leghairdontcare · 02/09/2019 15:04

Me - i'm a labour member. I'm confident my MP would hold his seat but I am less sure if Labour would win an overall majority.

usernamerisnotavailable · 02/09/2019 15:08

Conservative. Would never ever vote in this Labour Party and its loathsome leaders. I would be worried that tactical voting for Lib Dem's would in fact bring about a labour win nationally and that would fuck us all!

DisappearingGirl · 02/09/2019 15:09

I have been frustrated for years, and still am, about the splitting of the left-wing vote. I can never decide between Lib Dem, Labour or Greens, and would happily vote for any of them to get the Tories out.

MeanMrMustardSeed · 02/09/2019 15:09

Conservative. We need to get brexit sorted and move on.

Templetonstunafish · 02/09/2019 15:09

I would definitely vote labour. Not saying Corbyn hasn't made any mistakes but he has the media and establishment against him. Anyone who isn't very wealthy is voting against their own interests if they vote Tory and I do not understand it at all!

Hidingtonothing · 02/09/2019 15:09

I'm another 'anyone but Labour or Tory' voter, although at this point I have no actual idea who. I just feel like I have no faith left in our entire political system and even less in the shower of shit who implement it, any of them.

FudgeBrownie2019 · 02/09/2019 15:12

I couldn't bring myself to vote Conservative, ever. They're just not my party and not my politics.

JC isn't my labour leader, but if it was a choice between him and a Tory vote I'd have to vote labour because, frankly, a no-deal is bullshit that needs to be avoided if at all possible.

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 02/09/2019 15:15

I do vote ken

But it makes not one iota of difference

Justanotherlurker · 02/09/2019 15:17

Anyone who isn't very wealthy is voting against their own interests if they vote Tory and I do not understand it at all!

And they say that Labour supporters don't understand economics ....

Take an example from today..

twitter.com/jeremycorbyn/status/1168499881167728641/photo/1

so ...

pension funds [will] see billions of pounds wiped off their books. So we’ll all see the value of our pensions fall. It’s the biggest raid of all our nest eggs in living memory

Not just the rich being effected here..

Mr Neidle [of Clifford Chance] predicted litigation from aggrieved companies and shareholders, challenges from other countries, including the US and China, potential WTO complaints and perhaps “retaliation in kind”

Considering all the labour supporters who are pro remain worried about GDP, looks like they can just ignore this in tribalistic fashion..

c3pu · 02/09/2019 15:17

I live in a safe Tory seat, which doesn't usually bother me as I generally lean more to the right, but I'd happily vote for whoever has the most chance of stopping Brexit.

Labour came 2nd (by a wide margin) in the last election, but who knows what their actual stance on Brexit will be if we go to the polls? My constituency voted overwhelming for Brexit :(

MrPan · 02/09/2019 15:18

Ordinarily a Lab member and voter. No longer.

Would vote tactically to ensure Tories do not get it.

BlueDaBabaDee · 02/09/2019 15:21

Tactical vote against Tories just so the NHS survives Brexit.

Sebw · 02/09/2019 15:28

I'd vote for Tory and a 'no deal'

marvellousnightforamooncup · 02/09/2019 15:31

Labour, I really like my Labour MP.

Happygilmorelove · 02/09/2019 15:32

I'd vote for anyone except the conservatives or the Brexit party. I will vote tactically if necessary. I want the conservatives out now, they have made a massive mess of our country.

M3lon · 02/09/2019 15:35

I thought Gauke made a good point today...going 'no deal' will in no sense 'put Brexit behind us', well unless we are intending to have no trade or other relationship with the EU.

I wonder what the first things on the EU trade deal negotiating team's to do list will be after we go 'no deal' and then decide we actually would like a trade deal with the EU like the US or China do? The Irish border and the unpaid bills would be my guess.....

MustardScreams · 02/09/2019 15:36

I’ll be voting Labour, as my Labour MP is really good and I desperately want her in! The Tory MP is a total twat and needs to be gone.

Anything to get the fecking Tories out.

twofingerstoEverything · 02/09/2019 15:36

LibDem for now.
Corbyn is a dick.
The Tory Party are a disgrace.
Brexit is a pile of steaming shit.
So LibDem it has to be.

MerryChristmasHarry · 02/09/2019 15:41

I'd vote for the Remain supporting candidate most likely to succeed. In my area that would likely be our sitting Labour MP, particularly as the probable second ranked would be the Brexit party. So I don't think I could risk voting Green as I did in the Euros. My MP knows however that my support is conditional on him continuing to be a strong Remainer, and I'd consider a Remain Alliance candidate if we were likely to have a realistic one locally. We just probably won't.
