How many of you would vote Labour if we had a General Election, just wondering as there have been a few negative comments on here about Labour recently

Would love to to know why people vote tory... What's in it for you ? Cuts to every public service going, failed privatisations, growing inequality, brexit... Why would you support this ?

Loopytiles · 03/09/2019 07:27

Would never vote Tory but won’t vote for Labour while Momentum run things.

Dogsarebetterthancatsok · 03/09/2019 07:34

I vote Tory as it’s better for the country. Labour want you tied to benefits. They rely on that to get your vote. It’s that simple. I work minimum wage and have a DS who has autism. I’ve had no problems under the Tories in regard to this. In fact, I’m better off as the minimum wage has risen considerably. There’s no way Labour would have risen it as much. The only benefit I get is DLA for my son and a small amount of child benefit before people bang on about tax credits and what not.
Under Corbyn, the country would be bankrupt. Have you even listened to any interviews with McDonnell? The man is a lunatic going as far as saying that hell improving opposers to Labour if he gets in.

Dogsarebetterthancatsok · 03/09/2019 07:34

*he’ll imprison

otterturk · 03/09/2019 07:35

Never. Potentially not even at gun point. I live in a Tory / Labour marginal.

Dogsarebetterthancatsok · 03/09/2019 07:37

And I wish people would stop going on about Tories wanting to privatise the NHS. If they were going to, it’d be done. Labour started it all anyway. In my opinion something needs to change and Labour isn’t the party to do it.

Random18 · 03/09/2019 07:37

Most people who may vote Labour do not like Corbyn.

But the most dangerous maniacs at the moment are the ones running No 10.

So whatever can be done to oust them needs to be done.

There are enough decent Labour MPs fo control Corbyn.

And I think he won't last long if he was PM.

An election creates a govt for 5 years at most.

What BJ is trying to do will affect us all and those that come after us and he has absolutely NO mandate.

He is breaking democracy and he needs to be stopped.

JuneFromBethesda · 03/09/2019 07:52

I think that's a pretty good summary @Random18. I'm considering voting Labour for the first time in my life (I've always voted Lib Dem) just to get the Tories out. I can't stand Corbyn but anything is better than Johnson.

JuneFromBethesda · 03/09/2019 07:55

Best result I can imagine would be some sort of centrist coalition ... but let's see how today goes. If the rebel Tories and centrist/left parties can pull it off today, maybe there's hope.

AdrenalinBrush · 03/09/2019 07:58

Corbyn or Boris?

Frankly I'd rather have Boris. Corbyn is even more dangerous.

Ringdonna · 03/09/2019 08:07

Always vote Tory and always will. Hope they will remain in power for years to come.

Unescorted · 03/09/2019 08:20

Can you all remind people to register to vote...

www.gov.uk/register-to-vote

Students will just be back at university - so remind them to do it before they go if they have an address there. If not they can vote from their "home" address - just organise a proxy in case they can't get back.

LaVieilleHarpie · 03/09/2019 08:30

If the Tories get voted in again, you Brits deserve ALL the shit that's coming to you and then some.

Obviously the Tories will get in, and Britian will crash out, and this little island will sink and fade into insignificance. One day I'll tell my (British born) kid, 'Look. This is what happens when people are stupid.'

Meadowland · 03/09/2019 08:43

@LaVieilleHarpie Totally agree.
The biggest worry is that people will believe all Boris's pledges of money to NHS etc....Yeah, course he will.

whatshallIdo1 · 03/09/2019 08:44

If the Tories get voted in again, you Brits deserve ALL the shit that's coming to you and then some.

If the Tories get in it will be because we have a defunct voting system, not because the majority of people want them in power.

Why the rudeness LaVieille?

longwayoff · 03/09/2019 08:45

Oh god, LaVieille, I despair of this bloody country, look at the state of us, it's unbelievable. Anyway, welcome to Britain. Keep your eye on Priti Patel. She's not keen on immigrants and refugees like her own family.

TeuchterTraveller · 03/09/2019 08:45

Haven't voted Labour since 1997, SNP all the way.

Gin96 · 03/09/2019 08:47

@LaVieille you sound bitter and twisted.

I can’t see how this is going to pan out. I could see conservatives were going to win when David Cameron won the election. I saw Trump was going to win, I saw Brexit on the cards, I saw Theresa May to be Priminister and I could see a GE was going to be called but I really don’t know who will win this time? It will be a collation but not sure who with?

LaVieilleHarpie · 03/09/2019 08:47

@whatshallIdo1 - why do you think?

Gin96 · 03/09/2019 08:50

Coalition even

@LaVielleHarpie, maybe you are a French national who has lived in the UK for many years, and you are angry about the treatment EU citizens have received since the referendum. I agree that it has been appalling, and the change in climate here is awful and frightening

However Brexit was voted for by a quarter of the entire population only, and if it weren’t for the electoral system, our MPs would be far more representative of the population at large, and I believe we wouldn’t be in this situation.

LaVieilleHarpie · 03/09/2019 08:59

Because I'm incredibly happy to see you shoot yourselves in the foot through sheer arrogance. Grin

I mean, us immigrants will be just fine. We have work ethic. We've done this once, we can do this again. Oh, and we still have EU passports. If push comes to shove, we can resettle elsewhere and drive a different country's economy. Most likely somewhere more welcoming towards us. It'll be a bit of a faff obviously, to pack up our lives and leave our homes, but it'll be doable and we will be ok.

You won't. Your arrogance will be your downfall. I used to care greatly about the country that's been my home for over half my life, as much as it liked to kick me in the teeth now and then because of my nationality. Hm. Well. Not anymore. Grin Can't wait to see the look on Barry and Brenda's faces when it allll goes to shit.

whatshallIdo1 · 03/09/2019 09:03

Many Brits hate Brexit as much as you do LaVieille, and we did not vote for it.

(And some of us have dual nationality so you aren’t the only one who can get out).

Gin96 · 03/09/2019 09:07

It is a mess but if you’re that bitter why stay? Why not already move to another EU country before things get any worse?
