Rollercoaster Rage

Ok, not big rage but annoying. We have recently come back from Orlando which was a bit of a once in a lifetime trip, following a truly awful year.
The amount of pics from rides we went on that have been wrecked by someone in front flinging their arms as wide and high as they can!
Within our package we got 'free' photos from theme park rides. We loved this as we can't take them ourselves on rides. DC are 12 and 10 and got increasingly more daring as the holiday went on.
Some of the pics you can't even see them because the adult in front has flung their arms up as they passed the camera! DD12 was really chuffed with herself going on a very scary ride - none of us would ever do it again but glad we did it once - but the pic was wrecked. Guy in front - one hand blocked my face and one hand blocked DD's. Nonetheless she insisted on buying the souvenir photo frame (fortunately I've photo shopped him out and us in). Guy in front paused and admired the pic at the screens and didn't even get a copy!
Next ride a woman flung her arms up and completely blocked me on the pic. At the screens she looked at me and said "Oh I blocked you". Yes thanks.
I don't do this. I try and smile if I can. But I don't wreck the pic for the children or adult behind me. Is it just me this happens to??? A large portion of our pics have been affected this way.
Small problems I know, I'll get over it Smile

I don't really think about the camera/ photo... none of us do . We are too busy in the moment enjoying it .

Mummymummums · 02/09/2019 01:44

Well no, I don't generally but these people mostly just flung their arms up as they passed the camera. So they knew where the cameras where.

That sounds very annoying I think I’d have the rage too!

GinDaddy · 02/09/2019 07:59

People are so mindless and thoughtless - they think they’ll look cool on the monitor when they walk by after coming off, they’re not even bothered about buying pics or what others might need if they want to buy one - no thought as to who is behind them.

Icecreamsoda99 · 02/09/2019 08:09

I think you are being a little unreasonable, it's a rollercoaster and it's what a lot of people do on them. Could you not have gone on again and got another picture taken if you were upset? Also just for the future maybe take a picture in front of the ride sign so you are guaranteed a good one which reminds you of the ride Smile

snitzelvoncrumb · 02/09/2019 08:17

I think people are just enjoying the experience and not thinking about others. And that's ok, people need to be considerate, but you can't expect others to miss out on enjoying life when they aren't hurting anyone. You may have unintentionally ruined photos too.

Yabu
People just enjoying themselves in the moment

lemonverbenaandthyme · 02/09/2019 08:25

People throwing their arms up on a rollercoaster gives you the rage on your Florida holiday? Oh dear.

ReeReeR · 02/09/2019 08:26

I can see why it’s frustrating for you but I agree with PP who said most people probably don’t really think about the photo or where their hands are. I think it’s pretty normal to put your hands up in the air. I don’t as I hate them and if I’m on one I’ll be clinging to the bar with gritted teeth in any photos you might find 😬

LittleCandle · 02/09/2019 08:26

Oh get a grip! I love rollercoasters and it takes me all my time to put my arms up for the drops/cameras and it never crosses my mind that I might be blocking the person behind or that the person in front might be blocking me. Isn't that all part of the fun? These photos are hilarious for the most part and so what if they guy who blocked you didn't take a copy? What does that have to do with you?

I think you need to get over yourself.

inwood · 02/09/2019 08:26

Yabu!!

Ilikethisone · 02/09/2019 08:27

Sorry, but I find it really funny you try and pose for a nice photo on a rollercoaster. Grin

Nicknacky · 02/09/2019 08:28

This is what annoys me these days. Some people are more interested in living life through a camera lens than enjoying the moment. No way could I get myself annoyed about photos on a rollercoaster. We have had similar happen and we just laugh about it.

swingofthings · 02/09/2019 08:28

That's why in most places you can queue to seat at the front. Your mistake if it meant do much to you.

jaseyraex · 02/09/2019 08:29

I always put my arms up/pose when I know the camera is coming, don't even think about who's behind me. I imagine most people don't think. Everyone is enjoying themselves in the moment. If I got rubbish pictures on a ride, we'd always go on again and sit at the front of the carriage.

feathermucker · 02/09/2019 08:30

YABU

Get the front seat. Totally normal behaviour.

NoSauce · 02/09/2019 08:33

Bizarre that you’re annoyed at this. That’s what people do on rollercoasters. Confused

CatsCatsCats11 · 02/09/2019 08:40

Can't believe your more bothered about true picture than enjoying the ride, try living in the moment and not for a lens Hmm

WhyBirdStop · 02/09/2019 08:45

I've just tried to have this conversation with my mother, to no avail. Not everything is a photo opportunity, and things still happened if it wasn't captured in a photograph. You should be relishing the shared memories rather than raging about something inconsequential.

Namechangeforthiscancershit · 02/09/2019 08:49

I never even look at the rollercoaster photos as I always look horrendous!

I didn't know anyone bought them.

TheVanguardSix · 02/09/2019 08:53

You went to Orlando and had a great family holiday. Take that, put it in the bank, and enjoy it. Forget the stupid photo. It’s a non-issue.
Having a truly shit year sucks. Flowers I really hope things are better and that those difficult days are behind you. All we have are memories. The photo doesn’t matter, OP. It really doesn’t.

Al2O3 · 02/09/2019 08:58

I blame Selfies

Funkyslippers · 02/09/2019 09:01

OP- can I ask if the queues were horrendous? I was thinking of going the last 2 weeks of August next year. Is that a good time to go? Thanks

LeysaV · 02/09/2019 09:02

YABU

Went to a theme park on Friday (not in Florida sadly) and on the roller coaster a man in front , his face and one arm was in the photo too. Didn't block my kids faces though . Anyway, afterwards when looking at the photos he apologised but he need not have . Bought the photo anyway (luckily he was a nice looking man so I don't mind at all really lol)
