It's what Gove said this morning when asked about food after Brexit.

"Everyone will have the food they need"

I am sure that's true....and who needs a wide choice of food anyway.

Good. I need to lose weight!

TheDarkPassenger · 02/09/2019 16:57

@HelenaDove

The body retaining thing is a myth isn’t it? I lived off pasta for a year and dropped nearly 5 stone.

SchrodingersMeowth · 02/09/2019 17:11

I have feed for a feeding tube, I’m pretty sure it’s made in Europe so I’m not sure that all of us will have the food that we need.

Absolutely astonishing that it has possibly come to this.

HelenaDove · 02/09/2019 17:12

Well the homeless woman i mentioned seems to be retaining pretty well.

And if i lived off pasta i would gain. Not to mention the constipation.

It will affect different people in different ways Because people are individual and everyone is different.

HelenaDove · 02/09/2019 17:12

I already tried it when i was at Slimming World I cut out the pasta I lost weight.

Supergrassyknoll · 02/09/2019 20:40

I despise Brexit and everyone and everything it stands for pretty frankly but Beetroot, Cabbage, Spinach, Spring onions, Cauliflower, Broad Beans, Broccoli, Chillies, French Beans, Tomatoes, Potatoes, Carrots and many more. Almost all kinds of vegetables are grown here in the United Kingdom according to google so 🤷🏻‍♀️

Hoooo · 02/09/2019 20:45

knoll
Yes. And the 60% we grow ourselves will rot in the fields as the EU veg and fruit pickers have gone home.

Check out NFU or Farming Today for more info.

Or if you want to sleep....don't.

bellinisurge · 02/09/2019 20:52

@Supergrassyknoll , I've grown fucking chick peas in my little northern garden. Doesn't mean I'm an agribusiness, does it?

TheElementsSong · 02/09/2019 20:58

Hopefully all the CRESS experts have got their crops sowed in readiness.

to think "everyone will have the food they need" is a way of saying that food choice will be limited
Soubriquet · 02/09/2019 21:43

I am what you mnetters describe as a picky eater

I am however a diagnosed food phobic.

This means I only eat certain foods and if I can’t eat them, I won’t eat anything.

My weight is so bad that I actually have fortisip on prescription.

I have finally managed to gain weight to 7st after drinking these drinks after wobbling between 5.5 stone and 6.3 stone.

I must admit that yes I buried my head in the sand when it comes to brexit (I voted remain) but now I am terrified.

Not just for me, but my kids.

bellinisurge · 02/09/2019 22:13

Keep talking to your GP or other health professional, @Soubriquet . People like you who need support should get it. It's everyone else's job to keep the fuck out of the way and tackle problems that can be avoided before they crop up. Best wishes.

Supergrassyknoll · 02/09/2019 22:48

Bellini don't fucking swear at me, I didn't vote for the stupid bastard idea

AutumnCrow · 02/09/2019 23:01

Oh @Soubriquet that is tough for you. Is there anything any of us can do to help you get a buffer arranged?

bellinisurge · 03/09/2019 06:04

My apologies @Supergrassyknoll . It makes me very sweary if people say we can grow our own in the UK. As if those things are all ready to just drop into the shops on November 1. I thought that was your point.

Ohflippineck · 03/09/2019 10:42

They are but not in enough quantity to feed our population should imports be problematic. There will be shortages.

DarlingNikita · 03/09/2019 11:24

Super, quite honestly why would people NOT swear if you insist on making ill-informed comments like your 'all kinds of vegetables' one? Hmm

Hoooo · 03/09/2019 12:17

Absolutely nikita

So many posters spouting utter rubbish

malificent7 · 03/09/2019 12:55

Its always a good idea to prep regardless of Brexit etc.

malificent7 · 03/09/2019 12:57

My advice; eat plenty of fresh food now before the price sky rockets and start stocking up...just in case.

Skinnychip · 03/09/2019 14:04

You cant really stock up on fresh food (especially fruit and veg) though

bellinisurge · 03/09/2019 14:20

You can if you freeze or dehydrate fresh fruit and veg.

berlinbabylon · 03/09/2019 14:30

I massively resent being forced to suffer the consequences of other people's ill-informed choices

or to make other people lots of money. The population of the UK (and Ireland, and to an extent the rest of the EU) are not pawns to be played with so that NF, JRM and their nasty ilks can make millions. This is only one step up from willy wavers causing wars to massage their egos. We have willy wavers who are greedy, despite already being richer than most people could ever imagine. There are no words for the contempt I hold them in.

HelenaDove · 04/09/2019 02:23

IDS getting the food he needs.

Some of the comments underneath are comedy gold Grin
