Well to answer your question, I personally find it a little inconceivable that users here feel threatened by a particular vein of colloquial speech and texting language. So threatened that they feel they need to potentially leave a forum that has space to discuss feminist activism amongst academics and laywomen, a commendable style and beauty section & an infant feeding that has saved my sanity on more than one occasion as well as perhaps that of thousands of global mothers . Mumsnet is a big place and the 'stuff' that doesn't particularly appeal to me I ignore and look elsewhere . I certainly don't start threatening to leave or think it's acceptable to sneer at. What I might be guilty of sneering at though, is the fucking idiocy of this thread . I think it should be moved to flouncer's corner .

I've not been here long but I have noticed a tendency in myself recently to get a bit more sarcastic towards some more, imo, vacuous posts (I got deleted 3 times for, what I thought was pretty mild sarcasm while there was a shitstorm of a multi-reported thread raging elsewhere. So I'm trying to be a better person).

I do think that, just because we can swear here, we don't have to. So all the "Fuck off, fuck off some more and do one" posts make me yawn. Tbf, I don't know what "do one" means.

Nosauce are you always this tedious? I had two paragraphs in my post which was sufficient. I don't leave line spaces. In the meanwhile, I'd keep working on placing capital letters correctly and the sentences. Posts like this (nitpicking and facetious mimicking) that serve absolutely no purpose but to ignite an argument are a lot more annoying than the occasional 'hun'.

I have noticed. The antenatal groups are a totally different group of people, lots of 'hehe xx', 'hun', slang spelling, etc. I'm withdrawing a bit from the site as it's not my crowd anymore. Can anyone recommend anywhere better?
