Plain old insecure Mean Girls, if you ask me. Terrified of being exposed as the uncool, hollow caricatures they really are

Nope. Just want to read a thread with paragraphs, without loads of !!!!! and that isn’t absolute nonsense. So many posters use MN like FB these days and it’s irritating.

hunsontherun · 31/08/2019 14:58

Pop this on while ur getting readey 2 go out - this is the nite ur aiming 4

Luv ya! 👯

TitianaTitsling · 31/08/2019 14:59

Also thinking of a different type of 'hun' also West Coast Scot- that chaos in Govan looked awful yesterday.

hunsontherun · 31/08/2019 15:01

What's baby dust?

Baby dust gives hope 4 couples faceing infirtility - whateva it takes, amirite? 🍼

NoSauce · 31/08/2019 15:03

Do people still say babydust? Haven’t seen that for YEARS. Along with auntflo and baby dancing.

hunsontherun · 31/08/2019 15:03

that chaos in Govan looked awful yesterday

Yep, aweful. Thats wot h8 n trying to cntrl others gets ya. 😢

teainker · 31/08/2019 15:03

Where's Mulan and Li Shang when you need them?!

Crowdo · 31/08/2019 15:05

On the subject of Mean Girls, my least favourite thing about MN is the people who hover waiting for someone to post about an unhappy event in their relationship so they can write things like:

You're a fucking idiot with zero self esteem for dating him.

It's just a way to continually insult people under the guise of being altruistic.

AlternativePerspective · 31/08/2019 15:07

I’ve been here fifteen years and babydust was a thing even back then.

It’s very simple really. Don’t like the way someone writes? Then don’t read it. And pointing out someone’s one grammar mistake on a whole post makes you look like a twat.

NoSauce · 31/08/2019 15:07

That’s not being altruistic though. It is being plain old mean.

hunsontherun · 31/08/2019 15:09

You're a fucking idiot with zero self esteem for dating him

Yeh, hitting sum1 when they r down. Wotz the point? It aint gonna help n its just cruell if u ask me. Way to help sum1 with low self esteem - abuse them 😂 I didnt go to uni, but even I cud work that 1 out XXX

BrokenWing · 31/08/2019 15:10

I find hun or kisses (xx), like a lot of other forced/habit terms of endearment, to someone you don't know annoying, both in real life and online. I instantly think the person or poster is fickle/not genuine based on it and mostly disregard/don't finish reading their comments.

I don't think I have ever used the word cunt on here, as I personally don't use it in real life either, but don't mind it in context and unlikely hun it is rarely used directly at another poster.

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 31/08/2019 15:10

What's baby dust?

It’s when you do the baby dance with your hubby and then you get a bubba.

It’s the only way.

inmyfeelings · 31/08/2019 15:12

For fucks sake, all this rage, sneering and snobbery at how people choose to express themselves inoffensively is completely fucking unnecessary.

Crowdo · 31/08/2019 15:13

I know it is mean. But I think they know just how to word it so it's on the right side of ostensibly helpful.

gingersausage · 31/08/2019 15:15

@AlternativePerspective I didn’t see your thread yesterday, but that’s absolutely awful. I’ve noticed there’s a definite uptick in the levels of victim blaming too, but I don’t believe (like some obviously think) that it’s limited to people who can’t spell or construct a sentence correctly Hmm.

@multivac, it’s the same old same old isn’t it. The middle school mean girls who want to keep MN the same way it was years ago. They stay in their nasty little cliques trying to run off anyone who dares to cross their lines of taste, grammar or class. They think everyone apart from them is automatically a noob (not realising that rather a lot of us have been here just as long) and they seem to put out a klaxon call elsewhere to congregate on threads like this to add “pithy” little comments.

Personally I too loathe text speak, bad grammar, poor spelling and endless run on sentences but guess what? It’s so easy to just click away from threads like that and find something else to read that fits in with your perceived superiority.

Whoever moaned about keyboard emojis, and stop being so fucking petty🖕🏻🖕🏽🖕🏿MN doesn’t have the bloody monopoly on emojis ffs 🙄.

multivac · 31/08/2019 15:15

unlikely hun it is rarely used directly at another poster

You are mistaken. I see it daily, used both at other posters, and at strangers who are being discussed on the board, but who aren't on the board themselves (people's parents, partners, spouses, even children). It's, like so cool and authentic!

BrokenWing · 31/08/2019 15:19

unlikely hun should have said unlike hun.

telling someone their dh is behaving like/is a cunt is completely different to saying to a poster you are a cunt which is against MN rules.

hunsontherun · 31/08/2019 15:19

@Wehttam Read this book n live a littel 💌

SecretWitch · 31/08/2019 15:20

I’m happy with the board. When I became member 10 years ago, there was a certain group of posters who made sport out of being demeaning to many other people. They were indeed cunts.

NoSauce · 31/08/2019 15:23

Personally I too loathe text speak, bad grammar, poor spelling and endless run on sentences but guess what? It’s so easy to just click away from threads like that and find something else to read that fits in with your perceived superiority

But more and more threads are as you describe these days. I agree with not commenting how bad it is but you click on to the next and it’s pretty much the same.

There’s nothing hard about using paragraphs, the poor grammar and spelling I can put up with but when it’s one huge sentence it’s difficult to read.

Gardai · 31/08/2019 15:26

You seem a bit stressed multivac - just having a laugh and yes we all have different opinions - we aren’t all the same hun 💋 xx

AlternativePerspective · 31/08/2019 15:27

@gingersausage I think it’s precisely the posters who don’t hun and xxx who are the most abusive. They don’t like the huns because it challenges their view that it’s ok to be vile to anyone they want and dress it up as telling it like it is.

And putting the F word in every other sentence certainly doesn’t make one look superior, it makes them look a bit thick themselves. Nothing wrong with occasional bad language, but the more you use it the less able you are to conduct intelligent conversation. In short, if you use fuck instead of hun you’re no different to your perception of the people you’re putting down. Except your language is abusive, theirs isn’t.

Good old Joolz! Grin

www.telegraph.co.uk/culture/tvandradio/3637660/Dead-common-and-proud-of-it.html

"It's all to do with self-loathing," she says.

"The middle classes can't bear to see people having more fun, so they attack Chavs for things like their cheap jewellery. It's jealousy, because they secretly know Chavs are better than them. They're even better looking.

She has spent nearly three decades in journalism, so what class are Burchill's friends? (Her two previous husbands were both successful writers.)

"They're mainly working class, and I've got a few very posh ones, but not many middling posh ones. I prefer aristocratic girls because they behave more like working-class girls. When they go to the toilet in a nightclub, they take their drinks in with them."

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 31/08/2019 15:27

My issue is the hypocrisy when someone asterisks out a swear word.

What’s the point? Swear if you want to or don’t, but don’t sugarcoat it if you do.
