I read a beautiful MN post yesterday. Someone was explaining how the hierarchy of scientific trials works. It was almost poetic and everything I love about MN.
And then, you look elsewhere and see THAT. Fucking. Monkey.

It’s like if you were watching something on TV that you were really engrossed in, and then someone came along and changed the channel to watch Love Island And then threw the remote out of the window.

Are the huns the people who habitually misuse the words ‘mortified’ and ‘ignorant’, declare themselves ‘devastated’, ‘fuming’, ‘raging’, or ‘heartbroken’ over tiny things, start AIBU threads entitled ‘to think [insert something inconsequential] SHOULD BE BANNED?’ Or have posters always done that?

If this is actually an invasion by Huns, should we be concerned about it being accompanied by an invasion of Alans?

Its really not, as far as analogies go its as if an advert for Love Island interrupted your chosen programme momentarily.
In all likelihood the old adage of birds of a feather flocking together likely comes in to play here; the 'huns' will find their chosen subjects/threads and you are I'm certain going to find the majority of yours untarnished by their input/opinions.

On the threads where you do meet, may I suggest that you just ignore them if you genuinely find them so intolerable?

As I say, I don't mind them so much but I can lower my apparent intellect and my expectations of other people's intellect accordingly. I suppose some of you weren't imbued with much of the common touch, which is a shame.
It tends to prevent you from becoming so easily perturbed when the proletariat encroaches on your hallowed ground

I Googled "pale beige square emoji" a while ago and got something to do with skintone.
I asked another poster who'd put a thumbs up one, followed by the pale beige etc about it, and they said they didn't know what it was. They said they didn't add it, but it often cropped up after they'd put a hand gesture emoji.

I may be getting a bit obsessed with finding out about it now.

The site was going to be revamped.

It was then in read-only mode for several weeks longer than anticipated.

When it came back to life it was discovered that several members' details had been compromised.

A lot of the information suddenly appeared in French and Italian (by the way, what is the French and Italian equivalent of "hun"?

Now it seems to be back - but there is no "trending threads" option showing, so nobody knows what the fuck is going on.

The typeface is too small for most people to read comfortably.

You're wholly correct in one respect; yes I largely ewuate them with lower socioeconomic groups and to claim otherwise would be disingenuous.
However I don't find those of apparent lower intellect intolerable, why should I?
