Songs that aren’t even ‘sad’ but make you emotional?

Does anyone else find certain songs quite emotional for no particular reason?? I’m not talking about purposefully sad love songs.

Current one for me is Castle On The Hill by Ed Sheeran - it’s not even the most amazing song ever but literally gives me goose bumps and I feel myself welling up as I sing along in the car! Maybe it makes me nostalgic!!

Other one is Ocean Drive by Lighthouse family - makes me so sad!!

Anyone else?! Maybe it’s something to do with certain chords!

Probably because they say “Addio”, which is a last goodbye.....

My son used to scream the place down of the song at the end of night garden came on. Seems he's not the only one who it upsets.

birdtable no. It’s more in line with a lullaby or song that an adult would sing to a child eg Hush little baby. Sorry to be cryptic but it really does get me that much

In fact, the first few bars are enough for my chest to tighten and feel a huge wave of grief wash over me.

I don't really know why, presume it's the lyrics.

OMG yes, the JCB song! Makes me think of the trips I took with my dad in his breakdown truck. 😭

Waterloo Sunset by The Kinks and Sunshine On Leith by The Proclaimers both make me properly well up despite being quite happy songs.

Also, even though I really hate Oasis, Don’t Look Back In Anger makes me cry now because it reminds me of being in Manchester the day after the bombing at the Arena.

I do think night garden is deliberately sad. I find it sad now cos my DC are past the bed time hour age. So when I hear it now it reminds me of the baby stage. Same thing for the Topsy and Tim music, whoever said that too!! Either that or I am crying at the murderous rage they drive me into.

I always want to cry at the music from the how to train your dragon films. Although I did actually cry at the end of the most recent one when Hiccup went back to visit toothless. I definitely cry at random bits in films though more than songs. Like the bit in ET when the kids fly on the bikes!!

Came on to say In the Night Garden too. Vivid memories of giving my son his bedtime bottle whilst it was playing. He's 7 now. Although currently 20 weeks pg so will get to do it again soon.

Also, Boys of Summer by Don Henley. Always makes me feel emotional for some reason

'Moment' by Jeremy Warmsley. I don't know why it makes me so emotional, I think because it's so beautiful and just makes me well up for absolutely no reason at all.
