Are you happy with the class you have? or dreading the return?

I have found out I am pregnant over the summer break so who knows how I will feel.

I’m strangely excited to get back into a routine! I’ve also begun having the ‘I can’t remember how do my job’ dreams and everybody will realise! So yes, strangely positive! ( 15 years in!)

Witchinghour1 · 28/08/2019 17:15

Ps congratulations!!!

BeingATwatItsABingThing · 28/08/2019 17:18

Nope. Dreading it. My new class are infamous and they are going to be hard work for a while.

recrudescence · 28/08/2019 17:18

Yes, totally ready for the new school year and can’t wait for it to begin. I am, however, retired.

@Witchinghour1

Wow I am a novice compared to you, this is my 3rd year. I have been given an horrendous year 5 class or so it seemed on transition day.

Thanks

20 years in and dreading it; there’s already another post about going back on the Staff Room board Sad.

I need an alternative!

KTgirl88 · 28/08/2019 17:22

BeingATwatItsABingThin

What year ?

Mine are also famous for being terrible.

Year 5 as well have been for the last 4 years.

Areallthenamestaken · 28/08/2019 17:23

I'll be fine when I get back but I'm not looking forward to having to get up early again. I've had such a nice holiday - I wish I could be paid to be at home!

saladfingers · 28/08/2019 17:24

I'm ready and looking forward to it. However, this will be a tough year with all the budget cuts and staff redundancies. We have lost a number of TAs in the Foundation Phase and this will really impact on standards in reading, maybe not immediately apparent by the end of this year but the gap between expected and achieved progress will widen.

DrMadelineMaxwell · 28/08/2019 17:27

The incoming year group (6) are infamous through the school. But I've taught some of them before and some pupil movement means I'm not dreading it as much as I could have been.

Curiousmum69 · 28/08/2019 17:30

I've not even thought about it yet.

Off to a festival this weekend. Will start thinking about school on Tuesday ready for going back Wednesday.

Inferiorbeing · 28/08/2019 18:17

I'm starting as a NQT and I'm terrified, spent the day planning and now I'm even more nervous!

brighteyeowl17 · 28/08/2019 18:18

I’m starting back in a new school as a HoD. I feel I should be more worried.

I bought an automatic owl pencil sharpener. That’s how prepared I am. Wink

DizzyDumies · 28/08/2019 18:21

I'm starting as an NQT in EYFS. I'm both dreading it and excited. I don't feel prepared at all, but no idea what I can do to prepare Confused

noblegiraffe · 28/08/2019 18:21

Mentally prepared? (no) or organisationally prepared? (Also no)

I have just ordered myself a new school bag. That was obviously top priority over filling out my planner and looking at what I’m meant to be teaching.

BelindasGleeTeam · 28/08/2019 18:23

I got my work bag out from the boot of the car.

Does that count?

It'll be fine. I'm looking forward to it now. Lots of new Yr7 to scare welcome and the thrill of seeing whether i got allocated the boys that hate my subject "challenging group" in yr9 in my GCSE class 😟

It'll be fine breathes into paper bag

Angrybird123 · 28/08/2019 18:35

I've coloured in my timetable, bought new pens and a pencil case as I'm not in my room for every lesson next year. Other than that... I brought a lot of stuff home with the intention of doing lots of planning but, as happens every year, I just couldn't get my head into it. It'll be fine. It's my 21st year.. You'd think I'd learn and just not bother bringing it home!

pinksquash13 · 28/08/2019 18:40

@noblegiraffe lol

I went in today to sort classroom. I have not finished that and I have not finished my planning. I've got two new LSAs and a difficult year 5 class. I'm not excited.

Smurf123 · 28/08/2019 18:41

I've just moved into a new classroom and discovered that there is no gluesticks, no laminating pouches, no laminator, no blu tac, no folders and no sand as all used up by previous teacher... Guess what this month's wages are being spent on 🤔

Smurf123 · 28/08/2019 18:43

I was otherwise looking forward to starting back...

nuttybutter · 28/08/2019 19:28

Yes but spent holiday working to be ready

ChittyChittyBoomBoom · 28/08/2019 19:39

This year marks my 20th year since I qualified and I’m feeling jaded ☹️. For the first summer ever, I’ve hardly been in to prepare my classroom as I can’t really muster the enthusiasm. I have some new challenges to face in my class this year so I’m hoping that will give me an interesting challenge.
Right now though, I’m still in Spain enjoying the last night of my holiday 🍹 .

Atropa · 28/08/2019 19:43

Nope, but then I have just finished a few weeks' volunteering in a job I have now an offer for, once I jack in teaching and qualify. So, for once, I couldn't care less; it's a long-term plan to get out and do something I actually believe in.
