Are you happy with the class you have? or dreading the return?

I have found out I am pregnant over the summer break so who knows how I will feel.

I went in today, thank god. My brain is cheese 🧀 and I forgot all my passwords. Thankfully the amazing technician was in and re-set everything for me.

AnObviousNameChange2019 · 28/08/2019 22:43

Not done much this summer and feeling anxious now. It's my 16th year since qualifying and I've changed back to Foundation Phase after a couple of years in KS2. Last night I dreamt Estyn came, slated me and queried if I was actually a qualified teacher...

BelindasGleeTeam · 28/08/2019 22:44

I've not even got class lists yet.
No seating plans. Timetable may change yet....as may class lists.

I'll be fine. I hope. Lessons are sorted. Printing to do and sorting textbooks. Oh teaching 1 subject this year so it be a doddle compared with the years of 4!!!

Whatsername7 · 28/08/2019 22:47

Yep im ready. Feeling a bit strange about it all. My old year group have just left, I was their head of year for 6 years. Im getting a bunch of newbies and I feel a bit sad. I miss my old babies. The thing I struggle with most is the cyclical nature of education. Its like a never ending treadmill repeating the same thing year on year. Ive had two teacher days with the same old crap. Get me infront of a class - the kids make things interesting at least!

PumpkinPie2016 · 28/08/2019 22:55

I think I'm ready! Staying in the same school but a promoted post which I'm excited about starting.

I have organised all DS school uniforms - we've had a lovely summer but I think he'll be pleased to see his friends.

I've done some planning today. Classroom was pretty much done before summer and I popped in last week to finish off.

I have a Y7 form who seem lovely so I'm looking forward to getting started properly with them.

Most of my classes are great (Y7 and A-level). Some potential characters in Y11 but I'm sure it will be fine.

In a weird way, I'm looking forward to getting back to a routine (I may have changed my mind by this time next week though!).

Congratulations on your pregnancy OP!

My normal anxiety dream is being stood in front of a class who ignore everything that I say and run riot.

This summer my brain decided to change it up a bit and I dreamt I was elected deputy leader of the Lib Dems and was expected to make a speech at their party conference. I’m not a Lib Dem and didn’t want to be deputy leader so this was quite nerve-wracking. I think I’d rather have the riotous class!

RabbityMcRabbit · 28/08/2019 23:09

I completed my 16th anf final year of teaching in July this year and I'm not going back!

BeingATwatItsABingThing · 29/08/2019 07:09

Not just me who gets the anxiety dream. Mine is usually that I can’t remember the children sitting in front of me and I can’t read the register.

PumpkinPie2016 · 29/08/2019 07:22

I had my first 'back to school' dream last night!

I dremt it was my first lesson with Y7 and I had planned a practical (which I never do for lesson 1). The class were really badly behaved - I hadn't done a seating plan so just told them to sit anywhere and they were taking ages, getting up and moving seats etc. Then they wouldn't listen, we're beig dude, trying to eat/drink things from the practical and generally causing chaos Shock

I have 2 Y7 classes this year and see them both in Tuesday - let's hope my dream.doesn't come true Grin

Cat0115 · 29/08/2019 07:59

I'm glad I'm not the only one! I've done my planner, mucked out email inbox, sent time delayed emails for next week (Hod). Seating plans were not on the list... I don't have my own room... 10 to do!

ChickenNugget86 · 29/08/2019 09:33

I'm looking forward to getting back into the routine and I've actually missed the children. It's lovely to have the 6 weeks off but I get quite lonely!

I'm a support assistant, go back on Monday for the training day and that's the day me and a huge group of support staff make all the new year resources name labels, book covers etc... Its a military operation and the laminintor offer dies due to over use!

I'm in Reception which I enjoy but the first term is always so challenging as it's starting from scratch again and you forget how little they all are.

I've also found out I'm pregnant during the summer holidays and although it's early days (5 weeks) I'm already feeling so sick, don't know how that's going to work with me playing in the home corner Hmm

KatieKat88 · 29/08/2019 09:50

This will be my 10th year. However very different this time as I'll only be around until Oct half term and then off on mat leave! Don't have a timetable but am a middle leader so am focusing on supporting my team (including a good amount of newbies so I'll still be kept busy). Last summer I was doing loads of A Level prep - feels weird to not be stressing about preparing for classes!

LadyRannaldini · 29/08/2019 12:59

Yes, totally ready for the new school year and can’t wait for it to begin. I am, however, retired.

Someone after my own heart! When our children were younger and being less than perfect strangers would say 'Bet you're looking forward to September!' I would puzzle them by saying 'Oh no, we love the time with the children in the Summer holidays, never want them to end'.
As for being prepared I rarely was, I feel sorry for Primary teachers with the same class all day if it's 'that' class, at least in Secondary it was only 40 minutes with a poor class.
Good luck to you all, you're doing a far better job than you're given credit for, I've seen the curriculum changes through grandchildren and as an exam marker and I wouldn't like to still be at the chalkface.

cricketballs3 · 29/08/2019 13:38

I'll just add this beauty on TES Grin

noblegiraffe · 29/08/2019 13:49

Issonfreeze! Get that one all the time Grin

Brilliant, cricket!

BeingATwatItsABingThing · 29/08/2019 14:10

‘Mrs Being! Screensgonoff!!’

MsAwesomeDragon · 29/08/2019 15:15

I get issonfreeze a lot too. And scoldineer.

I no longer get bellsgone, because we no longer have bells (this is very new and likely to cause chaos in the first few weeks of term as staff and pupils alike forget the bell won't go at the end of the lesson)

I really should be doing some prep work now,. But I've been shoe shopping with dd2, and am now mumsnetting, thinking about going food shopping in a minute and I might even clean some of the house (unlikely!)
