How often do you wash your towels?

I wash mine after two goes and I regularly bleach... husband thinks I'm mental? AIBU??

@Maybe2020, if it is so disgusting to reuse a towel that has been in contact with your clean body for around 5 minutes, how on earth do you cope with clothes that may be in contact with your progressively dirtier body for several hours? Or do you change them every 5 minutes also?

JoxerGoesToStuttgart · 27/08/2019 14:56

Were you really being humorous Lewji? I don’t see where the joke was. Can you explain it please?

ArthurtheCatsHumanSlave · 27/08/2019 14:58

Slightly derailing the thread - but I still have towels we were gifted for our wedding. I suspect my irregular washing of said towels has resulted in great longevity. I have been married for 30 years Blush.

Willow2017 · 27/08/2019 14:59

I have a new respect for spiders!
I need to round up my own army of them but I can only find 2 so far.
Yothegin can you do.a breeding programme of domesticated spiders?
Oh and can they diversify into dusting too?

Lweji · 27/08/2019 15:04

The joke was that inevitably someone would take offense at the first world problem comments. My comment was definitely tongue in cheek.

Having said that, are you sure you understand what "tongue in cheek" means? Despite other pps protestations, you seem remarkably lacking in humour here.

TimeIhadaNameChange · 27/08/2019 15:08

Generally once a week, but if a towel gets particularly dirty or wet I'll throw it into the washing pile sooner.

Oh. So you joked by repeating my joke. Cool.

Wounded deep.

It’s not about anything happening I know I’m not going to die from not washing my towel or cleaning my house it’s the fact I like to! I like to use clean towels, I like a clean home, I like washing my towels when they’ve been used, it’s personal preference. I like it.

I think you need to get a bloody life.

2Rebecca · 27/08/2019 15:20

Once a week and we're keen cyclists. I dry them on the line or airer in between washes and I use a small chamois type sports towel to get most of the water off so the towel doesn't get too soggy.

YoTheGinPussyOfStMawesOnThigh · 27/08/2019 15:21

I understand the spiders I employ have formed SpiderULike PLC and are providing many and varied services. Their ethos is that busy legs are happy legs and that having eight eyes means they are all-seeing of what needs doing. They are happy workers I find, sing reedy little songs as they go about their business. They are very environmentally friendly too and as payment for their services eat all the flies and wasps that dare come in my house. No need for nasty aerosol bug sprays for me. I have a very fine set of net curtains they have made me too.

Don’t put all the towels in at once as the washing machine doesn’t like it! Even more reason to change towels once a week or so.

Now that it’s warmer and we don’t have the towel rail on, I hang up towels to air or they get very musty and smell horrible.

Maybe2020 · 27/08/2019 15:28

@spanglydangly see youvr Piped back up 😂

This is so cute! Grin

Proseccoinamug · 27/08/2019 15:28

Weekly. Maybe even fortnightly. None of us smell and none of us have died!

augustagain · 27/08/2019 15:30

I find in winter I need to wash my towels more often than summer. I try to stick to around once a week though. It's just that they don't dry so well in winter and go musty quicker. The only solution I can see to that is to turn up the heat, but that is likely no more eco-friendly than doing another towel wash?

Excellent sports towel. You just use it to get most of the water off, wring it out and put it back in its case. It means the big towels don't go as soggy. I usually run it under a warm tap first and wring it out so it'd not cold. It gets a gentle 30 wash every month or so

InsertFunnyUsername · 27/08/2019 15:38

I leave MN for a couple of hours to wash my towels and bleach my arsehole and came back to chaos.

spanglydangly · 27/08/2019 15:41

I think the most sensible and genuine replies on this thread are from @LadyCarolinePooterVonThigh and @YoTheGinPussyOfStMawesOnThigh. I agree with every word. And no, I don't know these two lovely, articulate and sexy women at all. Nope. Not at all. Total strangers.

madmother1 · 27/08/2019 16:09

Once a week. We all have our own towels
