to remind you that our lying Prime Minister lied again - this time about pork pies

We've had the kipper story. Where he claimed that the UK couldn't export kippers unless they were ice packed and this was all due to EU regulations. Untrue

Now it's Melton Mowbray pork pies - claiming that we can't export them to the USA but they go to Thailand and Iceland. Chair of the Melton Mowbray pork pie association was on the Today programme this morning and explained that due to the short life, such things aren't exported that far. Also talked about the geographical protection scheme - which would be affected in a No Deal Brexit - so MM pork pies could be made in the USA.

Apparently Boris Johnson is upset that Channel 4 news could him a liar.

He is a liar. I am sure plenty of people could add other lies he's done.

I wish the BBC would just say that he lied.

He's a liar and not even a very clever liar or he wouldn't keep forgetting what lies he's told.

I can't fucking stand him or his party or what they all stand for.

chomalungma · 26/08/2019 10:58

The thing is - it's so easy to fact check these things.

Looking forward to someone challenging him on these facts.

Telling pork pies, oh the irony!

Cunt

MollyButton · 26/08/2019 11:07

The picture of him in the Elysee Palace just does it for me, actually any picture -he is a national embarrassment - at least we can say we didn't vote for him.

lovelyupnorth · 26/08/2019 11:09

Did like the pork pie guy on the radio pointing out the value of the protected status being a bigger risk to the pork pie than the US trade deal. Oh something else the EU has done for us

A simple measure to know if BlowJob is lying is his lips moving.

Patroclus · 26/08/2019 11:13

the media needs to stop with this 'mislead' crap. He lies endlessly, say it like it is.

PerkingFaintly · 26/08/2019 11:18

There'll be someone along in a minute to say all politicians lie and they're all the same and blah blah blah.

No it fecking isn't.

Persistently lying to people's faces when they know you're lying (or will find out sharpish), is a whole different behaviour from occasionally trying to oil out of something.

I'm not condoning the latter, but compulsive liars are a whole different ball game.

B Johnson is in the latter camp.

He lies when he could have told the truth.

PerkingFaintly · 26/08/2019 11:22

Even Michael Howard, when skewered by Paxman, didn't lie.

He just carefully answered a different question... 17 times.Grin

feesh · 26/08/2019 11:39

I can’t stand Boris, but, to be fair, that pork pie man talketh shit - I live in the Middle East and the great British pork pie is readily available here (albeit in the naughty pork section of supermarkets).

chomalungma · 26/08/2019 11:41

I live in the Middle East and the great British pork pie is readily available here

Is it genuine Melton Mowbray or made somewhere else and called Melton Mowbray?

You can get MM Pork pies in the USA - but they are made in the USA because EU geographical labelling doesn't apply there.

All politicians lie. Especially Saint Corbyn who really is a massive cunt

Chloemol · 26/08/2019 11:56

Every prime minister we have ever had has lied, why just pick on Johnson?

CendrillonSings · 26/08/2019 12:00

That’s nothing - Corbyn conned millions of Remainers into voting for him despite having been a staunch Leaver since the 1970s...

drum123 · 26/08/2019 12:02

chloemol maybe because he is the prime minister NOW? And his lies are impacting on us NOW? Not much point in talking about historical prime ministers lying when we're in the middle of a shit show NOW!

chomalungma · 26/08/2019 12:02

Every prime minister we have ever had has lied, why just pick on Johnson

Because he is our current PM who is building his career on lies and is taking us out of the EU based on lies.

Genuine Melton Mowbray ones. We buy ours in Waitrose.

Alsohuman · 26/08/2019 12:06

I expect him to lie. What I don’t expect is a PM who can’t string two words together like the one Robert Peston interviewed yesterday.

marvellousnightforamooncup · 26/08/2019 12:06

I mourn the days when at least a semblance of integrity was needed in a PM. He's not even bothering to make his lies convincing.

drum123 · 26/08/2019 12:06

And cendrillon, that makes no sense at all. Are you saying that the members of the Labour Party who voted for Mr Corbyn as leader also voted to remain because he wanted to leave?! Anyway, even if Mr Corbyn, or anyone else, is a liar, that doesn't mean that Mr Johnson isn't a liar - and as he is the actual prime minister, he is causing serious harm.

chomalungma · 26/08/2019 12:08

Genuine Melton Mowbray ones. We buy ours in Waitrose

Well you'd have thought the Chair of the MM Pork Pie Association would know that.

The thing about Johnson is - he has built his career on lying and misleading so it's very easy not to believe him.

Of course - when we leave the EU, anyone can make MM pork pies and call them MM pork pies. Because we won't have EU geographical restrictions applying.

It's time genuine Cheddar was protected

Leighhalfpennysthigh · 26/08/2019 12:19

If BJ was given a pound for very time he has lied then he'd have enough to buy a nice desert island somewhere where he can do no damage.

I guess, when he does get chucked out of parliament he can go govern Greenland for Donald Trump

x2boys · 26/08/2019 12:20

Because Labour prime minister's would never lie would lie would they? Oh wait Tony Blair,.... all politicians lie.

BogglesGoggles · 26/08/2019 12:24

Telling porky pies Grin

I must say though I do disagree with this ridiculous name protectionism. There’s a big issue in Australia at the moment about cheese. The EU wants Australia to access its ridiculous naming rules about cheese to secure a trade agreement. It’s just stupid. No one in Australia wants of expects greek feta when they buy feta. They just expect something h suitable for whatever recipe they’re making.
