Help !!

Currently on holiday with DP, 2 step daughters age 6&7 and our 15 month old. We only arrived yesterday afternoon and when the kids settled down DP went for a walk around (this is normal we do it every holiday)

This was about 11:45pm and it's now half 4 in the morning! His phone was dead before he left and I've been cat napping hoping I am hearing him in the corridor of the hotel but nothing!

The kids will be awake in a few hours and he would never / has never done this before! I'm so worried and want to ring the police.

Help? I'm thinking the worst and getting myself in a state of how I'm gonna tell the girls I don't know where Daddy is 😭

He may have fallen asleep on a lounger. Recepion might open fairly early so perhaps try and get a bit of kip and ring them in an hour or two, see if they can send someone to have a scout about for him.

If he can handle his drink and it's not unheard of for him to be out drinking I'd be inclined to think he's stopped for a beer or two. After the first couple his decision making wouldn't be on top form and he'll be chatting away enjoying the atmosphere not thinking he'll have a hangover and 3 DC to deal with in the morning.

Or he could of had a couple of beers and taken a walk on the way back. Lay on a sun lounger to listen to the sea and fell asleep.

Try and get some sleep so you can be ready for he DC when they wake up. Just tell them he was up early and went out for a walk. Don't let them hear you talk about him not being there. Hopefully he's back before they wake up.

If he does turn up safe and sound after this I would be reconsidering your relationship... but in the meantime thinking the worst id be asking the hotel to notify the police

I'm willing to bet he's had a few drinks and is asleep on a lounger somewhere. He'll wake up and be waiting till a reasonable time to come back so as not to disturb you in the middle of the night.

If not then this is what I would do:

Keep ringing reception - you're an hour ahead of us so it's 6.30am there, reception should open soon?

Otherwise, get the girls up, go down to breakfast as soon as it's open. Say dad's gone to explore the local area. Get the girls seated and settled with their breakfast and then either go to reception (if it's in eye shot of the breakfast area) or discretely alert a member of staff and explain you need help.

Please keep us updated.

it's difficult not to wonder what possesses a man to abandon his family at midnight and wonder off for the whole night.

OP is this something he makes a habit of, because I'd be very worried about this as a general pattern. At what stage does he intend to actually grow up and be an adult. And the famous flat mobile battery - what with these selfish people?

I wouldn't worry about him, I'd start planning the conversation to have when he finally shows his sorry face again.

Has he returned yet? Reception will surely be open by 7am which is in 10 minutes so try them again if you've not already.

The thought of them waking up and him not being here would traumatise him he's very hands on and wouldn't even want to wake up hungover for them

Ask yourself why are you having to invest in worrying about what his children will think. Why is that for you to care about, when he couldn't give a damn?

Presumably bandits didn't swoop in in your apartment and snatch him away, right?

Fingers crossed op, does sound like he's had one too many after a long day and is tucked up on a sun lounger under a towel used to 'reserve' it

This is no life OP. First day of your holiday and he’s pissed off all day/night. No contact, nothing?

Nobody decent does that.

Hey OP, are you ok? Any news. I would also be frantic and fearing the worst. I hope he's now back safe and sound

Why is it "normal" to go out for a walk at 11.45pm leaving your partner and three kids in a hotel room? Not saying this to be goady but I've never heard of people doing this before. Do other families do this on holiday?

I really hope he's back now, OP.

Report
HRH2020 · 23/08/2019 06:33

Why couldn't he have waited until the morning for his walk? I hope he's back now.

Report
ellesworth · 23/08/2019 06:36

Boyskeepswinging - I can see my husband doing this, he is the type of person to go for a walk if he can't settle. He would make sure everyone else was fine first, though.
