Should private jets be banned?

Given the impact flights have on the environment should the private use and ownership of private jets be banned?
It seems grossly unfair to request ordinary people reduce the amount of times they fly on a shared flight while turning a blind eye to the rich using a private jet frequently for single digit numbers of travellers.

On a practical note - what is the ratio of private flights to scheduled? What would be the actual benefit? Unfortunately I feel that poorer people are the ones who will actually end up cutting their flights.
