Or is it too close to white?

These threads blow my mind.

If you like it wear it. There is nothing wrong with your dress OP. At all. Goi g to a wedding is by invite, not demand. Wear what you like...obviously as long as it’s not a wedding dress which this clearly isn’t.

Is this one of those dresses where different people see different colours. That dress is Taupe. Nothing close to white or cream.

whattodowith · 21/08/2019 16:09

I think the lace makes it look bridal.

MKUltrachic · 21/08/2019 16:14

I think the style of it is fine, but the only thing that irritates me about solid white in this context is that it can draw the eye in group pictures...

Um, I think that's kind of the crux of the matter. I think that lots of us think that it's not 'clearly not' a wedding dress at all.

I have a lovely shawl that I really wanted to wear that will go so nicely with this dress. Also have matching shoes and a purse. For all other dresses I’ve seen I would need to buy a new pair and my shawl won’t match so will need something else in case it’s a bit chilly!

What colour are your accessories? I think the blue is lovely and agree that the creamy one is too "bridey". If your shoes/purse/shawl are a similar colour to the first dress, I think they might look nice with the blue.

I wonder if the original dress might actually be a bit pinker than it looks on the screen though. They call it "soft blush" which implies a pale pink to me.

"They call it "soft blush" which implies a pale pink to me."

Yes, the name of the colour does seem to be a misnomer doesn't it?

A pp described it as taupe.

I agree & I wouldn't think of taupe as a bridal colour.

nimski · 21/08/2019 17:41

Looks fine to me! Says soft blush!
Although I think the red one is stunning :-)

DarklyDreamingDexter · 21/08/2019 21:24

Good choice on the red dress. It's so much nicer in my opinion, but I'm another one who thinks the white/cream lace one is too bridal. (I'm not usually too bothered by the colour itself, but this style looks defo could be worn by a boho bride.) Why risk offence for no reason as it clearly divides people's opinions.

PonteLaCorona · 21/08/2019 21:43

Well OP if the bride's name begins with an L and the wedding is in September then go ahead and wear it!

OR if the bride's name begins with L and the wedding is in September, wear this dress for open vocal judgement and side-eyes from the bride's very traditional family.

My family think I'm abnormally relaxed but even I consider that dress a bit attention seeking and disrespectful. (Might not give a shit on the day)

I love it though. Wear it somewhere else might buy one for my honeymoon

DanielRicciardosSmile · 21/08/2019 21:56

The red dress is beautiful.

I'm not a fan of the weird triangle bit on the off-white/blue dress. It just looks like some stitching has come undone or like it's not been finished properly.

Agreed. I wouldn't bat an eyelid, I don't think it looks bridal at all.
