Or is it too close to white?

Even in the blue, you'd probably blend in with one of the Mother of the bride/groom.

You just don't wear lace to a wedding.

SummerSun10 · 21/08/2019 13:28

Way too close to white, and the lace is too bridal. I have been to weddings where the bride had worn a similar short lace wedding dress. Please don't wear this to a wedding!

BogglesGoggles · 21/08/2019 13:28

SunnyIn · 21/08/2019 13:28

Well OP if the bride's name begins with an L and the wedding is in September then go ahead and wear it! Grin

expatinspain · 21/08/2019 13:30

You absolutely can't wear that dress to a wedding.

StCharlotte · 21/08/2019 13:31

Have you not seen the McDonalds wedding advert?!

On the basis that IRL it doesn't actually look like it's been in the wash with some black socks, I would definitely give it a swerve for a wedding.

Lovely design though, I admire your taste if not your tact Grin

ButterflyOne1 · 21/08/2019 13:31

I think it's lovely. Personally it looks nothing like a wedding dress!

Lemoneeza · 21/08/2019 13:33

It's a no from me. I'm sure the navy would look lovely with the accessories you describe.

FilledSoda · 21/08/2019 13:35

No you just can't

Jadefeather7 · 21/08/2019 13:35

Ok so even coloured lace dresses aren’t allowed?

Sorry I’m actually Asian and I’ve only ever been to two or three English weddings and the last one was 8 years ago so can’t remember how everyone was dressed. I remember reading that white isn’t allowed and long dresses are not allowed. Didn’t realise lace is also not allowed!

Of course it's allowed. People are just really odd about wedding 'rules'.

Watchingthyme · 21/08/2019 13:37

It’s totally fine.
Blimey. Some people do get their nickers in a twist over the littlest things

SummerSun10 · 21/08/2019 13:38

Lace is fine, but not white/cream/off-white lace. Many wedding dresses are lace so is too close. Also if your shoes and bag are matching off-white lace too then that is even more of a no.

Just avoid anything in those colours, and black (too funeral-like for a wedding) and you will be fine.

Evilspiritgin · 21/08/2019 13:41

Who the heck told you long dresses aren’t allowed??

OP posts:
SunnyIn · 21/08/2019 13:42

I like the red one as well yes!

opinionminion · 21/08/2019 13:42

Of all the dresses out there to choose from. Give the Bride her day.
Just no. I do sometimes think these posts are a wind up.

Blobby10 · 21/08/2019 13:43

I'm obviously too old but that doesn't look in any way bridal to me! I wouldn't bat an eye at a guest wearing it at my or any other wedding! What colour shawl were you wearing with it?

The red one is nice though although if its suddenly warm, the long sleeves may be too hot.

Acrasia · 21/08/2019 13:44

I get married in a few weeks and would have no problem with you wearing that dress, but perhaps that is because I am not wearing a traditional wedding dress. What is your relationship with the bride like? Could you message her direct and ask if it would be okay or if you need to keep looking?

Ginkypig · 21/08/2019 13:44

I really like the red one!

LoveGrowsWhere · 21/08/2019 13:46

The red one is gorgeous.

Stickinicki · 21/08/2019 13:48

I love them all, but think go for the red. It's stunning and would look fabulous on someone with with a darker skin tone.

Aprillygirl · 21/08/2019 13:48

Haha is this a joke? You could not get a more bridal looking dress if you tried! You may as well go the whole hog and top it off with a veil ffs.

loobyloo1234 · 21/08/2019 13:49

I like both dresses OP. The first one isn't bridal whatsoever

The day someone turns up in a blush lace dress and somehow manages to upstage the bride, pigs will fly

BarbedBloom · 21/08/2019 13:49

That is very similar to my wedding dress in design. Not every bride wears a big white dress, so I wouldn't wear it, sorry. Aside from anything else I have seen people approach guests wearing white to a wedding to have a go.
