I'm trying to think of snacks.... I need low fat and preferably low calorie as I'm a tubby bear and I could do with laying off the pies.

I need it to be gluten free and, as I said, low fat (dodgy gallbladder)

INSPIRATION has hit me! Has anyone tried to air fry peas?!

AIBU in thinking I have just created the best, most healthy, stuff your face snack ever?

I haven't actually tested my imaginary recipe... because it's late. Far too late for pea consumption. But I'm guessing they'll taste great.

M&S sell Wasabi Peas. Totally lush! Proves your point though and I'm sure you can flavour them to our own taste. I looove wasabi though...

ZenNudist · 20/08/2019 23:09

Give peas a chance...

MicCheck · 20/08/2019 23:10

Ahh shit yeah, I actually tried wasabi peas from the co-op...

But they're not air fried so I'm still claiming the idea for my own 😬

Wasabi was abit much for me tbh... I was thinking some kind of paprika would be nice..

I love peas. Sometimes I just have a bowl of garden peas and ketchup for my dinner.

MicCheck · 20/08/2019 23:11

@QueenOfPain You are my Queen (of pain) !

I often steam frozen peas for a snack.

booktrotter · 20/08/2019 23:21

@MicCheck Totally your idea! Recipe and method when tried peas ( please)

MicCheck · 20/08/2019 23:21

I bet carrot fries would work well too...

And sugar snap peas.
I wonder what else I can stick in this air fryer that cost me £120 but so far has only made me chips... 🤔

Carrots work well and conveniently can be bought as a bag of batons if you're like me and too lazy to chop!

MicCheck · 20/08/2019 23:24

@curlii103 You Genius! No prep! Even better than having to thaw peas!
I'm still totally trying my pea idea though @booktrotter I shall report back tomorrow

DS and I can both eat lentils and chickpeas straight from a tin.
No air frying involved though.
Don't parsnips and beetroot make good crisps?
You could air fry those.

Gottoloveabagel · 20/08/2019 23:28

I roast chickpeas in the oven so they could work!

MoreSlidingDoors · 20/08/2019 23:28

There’s a range of pea snacks. And Emily’s do green bean/sugar snap and carrot snacks too.

Sounds great. I have just got into Kale Chips too.

cafenoirbiscuit · 20/08/2019 23:33

Frozen peas are The Best. Straight from the freezer. Like little sweets.

I want some now 🙄

MicCheck · 20/08/2019 23:34

@MoreSlidingDoors they sound delicious 😋

Love the beetroot and parsnip crisp idea too, definitely going to try that!

OP posts:
JaceLancs · 20/08/2019 23:34

Home made crisps not just potato but parsnip, carrot, beetroot, sweet potato etc
Pop corn

BlueCornsihPixie · 20/08/2019 23:34

Ugh I love peas OP, sometimes I just eat peas straight from the freezer.

This sounds a great idea. And air fried peas totally different to roasted or wasabi peas so definitely your own creation

JaceLancs · 20/08/2019 23:35

Apple crisps
Thinly sliced courgette or butternut squash

DontCallMeShitley · 20/08/2019 23:39

Peas and broad beans together in a bowl with salt. (Cooked)

Keepthebloodynoisedown · 20/08/2019 23:42

Thinly sliced aubergine crisps with salsa is lovely. You have to salt them about an hour before and wipe of the water though to get the really crispy.

Oldieandgoldie · 20/08/2019 23:46

You can buy frozen mixed veg chips..😀😀.

MicCheck · 20/08/2019 23:48

Oh I am just LOVING all these veg x airfryer ideas! I will try them all!
No-one ever out on weight from eating loads of veg, right? ...Right??

Either way, I'm sure my bowels will thanks me for the extra fibre.

I’ve just been standing in the kitchen in the dark eating peas fresh from the shell. I go mental every summer when they’re in season. The bessssst.
