To ask about PEAS

I'm trying to think of snacks.... I need low fat and preferably low calorie as I'm a tubby bear and I could do with laying off the pies.

I need it to be gluten free and, as I said, low fat (dodgy gallbladder)

INSPIRATION has hit me! Has anyone tried to air fry peas?!

AIBU in thinking I have just created the best, most healthy, stuff your face snack ever?

I haven't actually tested my imaginary recipe... because it's late. Far too late for pea consumption. But I'm guessing they'll taste great.

@user1473878824 I have never had drag peas! Am I missing out?! Are they really better than frozen?

OP posts:
MicCheck · 20/08/2019 23:53

Fresh peas, not drag 😂
Totally picturing singing peas wearing false eyelashes and lipstick...

Oh they’re so lovely. Totally different to cooked.

kateandme · 21/08/2019 00:02

MicCheck · 21/08/2019 00:03

Not the sort of snack you are looking for but pea purée is mighty delicious. Eat with a spoon or pretend it's a dip.

Slight variation on the theme - courgette, pa and mint soup, lovely filling snack or light meal and uses up my courgette glut too!

kateandme · 21/08/2019 00:08

yes take your peas out and leave them a while.they are great uncooked.
my sister literally just immerses them in the water to take the thaw off.straight out and loves snacking on them

kateandme · 21/08/2019 00:11

MicCheck sorry but:

@MountainDweller Pea purée! 😍 I'm drooling!

@kateandme I've always cooked my peas the old fashioned way (boiled or steamed)
Do you mean your sister eats them raw after defrosting?
So many possibilities...

@kateandme

You have shamed me.

I'm still claiming the paprika flavour as my own though

Even though a PP has clearly found some for sale.

I shall bow out now 😢

Wasabi peas are disgusting. Fresh raw peas (from pea pods), however, are nice.

thefirsttimer · 21/08/2019 00:21

OP try Penn State pretzels for a low fat 'crisp' snack. They're oven baked so a good option. The sour cream and chive flavour are delicious 😋.

Also have a dodgy gallbladder so I feel your pain!

sweeneytoddsrazor · 21/08/2019 00:22

Celeriac chips are lovely. Only done them in the oven though. Love roasted chickpeas as well.

kateandme · 21/08/2019 00:26

yep yep raw after defrosting.amazing!

Binforky · 21/08/2019 00:27

I love peas I often have a bowl for dinner but with salad cream instead of ketchup.

Wasabi peas are my favourite even though they make my eyes water.

kateandme · 21/08/2019 00:28

nothing better than a medley of roasted carrots, swet potato, peppers, courgettes and red onion and garlic.

GloriaMaximus · 21/08/2019 00:29

A little cornflour on carrot friends makes them epically amazing. I wonder if they would too work on peas. Your could mix your paprika in with it and you'll get bubbly, crunchy goodness 🤔

gavisconismyfriend · 21/08/2019 00:31

Chickpeas! Delicious roasted with cumin, turmeric and chilli - imagine they would air fry just as well....

kateandme · 21/08/2019 00:32

yes peas with salad cream.or vinegar Binforky add some lovely cooked carrots to that bowl and youve hit perfection.that why i love those frozen carrots and pea veg medley bags you can get.

kateandme · 21/08/2019 00:32

ooo why the cornflour GloriaMaximus

Ellmau · 21/08/2019 00:45

Slices of cucumber! The only food which takes more calories to chew than you actually consume, I believe.

MicCheck · 21/08/2019 00:50

@GloriaMaximus GLORIA! What an incredible idea!! I'm guessing it would create a type of batter?!
Sounds amazing!
Not sure it would be especially low calorie but I am most definitely trying it 😋

MicCheck · 21/08/2019 00:57
