Mine is a father throwing a drink in his daughter's face. She was about six and had knocked it over after he had queued to get it.

The animal & child abuse ones are so so horrid Sad

In Greece 3 years ago. I was 33. My friend was 24. Checked into hotel and reception insisted on keeping our passports as was 'policy'. They had kept the people before us checking in too so we let them keep them. Confused In hindsight, crazy.

Got to room. Air con not working. Called reception. A manager came.
He came into our room without knocking, just let himself in. He knew my name and how old I was. (I was recently divorced but passport still stated Mrs)
He was very creepy and letchy. Asked if anything else he could "help" with etc. Every time we saw him round the grounds he was over like a shot, offering to "help". He kept saying he knew I was married but why was I travelling without other half? Obviously I wanted "fun" etc. He was genuinely sleazy and disgusting. I got really uptight about sleeping at night thinking he might come in. The way he was made me want to puke. He didn't do anything or come into our room again but I felt disgusting and all I did was check in. Sad

drugs bust at a Motel 6 in Memphis in the mid 90's when we were on holiday. We had to stay in our room whilst shooting was going on just under our room. Eventually the culprit was shot dead and taken off.
We moved to a different hotel after that.

Also people in the pool in a Mexican AI, smoking and taking full plates of food in and eating poolside. Food and cigarette butts inevitably ending up in pool.

@BrunettesDoItBetter

😂

Not all Irish people are like this I swear. TBH they sound like travelers, and they probably called you a "knacker". Being Irish I wouldn't like to meet them on holiday either!!

Sorry I meant to write 'knacker' blooming predictive text.

They weren't traveller's, they spoke like " heeeerrrrr, what's the story, " ;) (I'm Irish myself). They were very intimidating, I'm nearly 50 and felt like I was 12 back in school.

We had just flown back to London from Kuala Lumpur and we were waiting to get off the plane when two young children around the ages of 2 and 4 started having a bit of a scrap (nothing major just kid stuff) and who I assume was their dad then put his hand over the oldest child's face and proceeded to push him over onto the floor really hard and stood over him saying "how do you like it"

HeyYouWhatToDo · 21/08/2019 19:36

One holiday.. my DD managed to knock herself out going down a slide (some kids had thrown sand down it so she literally flew down and hit her head as she fell onto the floor) anyway she landed in a heap and started fitting. as if that wasn't bad enough.... While we were waiting for the ambulance people were coming to sit on benches to watch what was happening!!!

AllBellsNoWhistles · 21/08/2019 19:44

I went to Mexico with my mum. We booked an adult only hotel.
We arrived late at night so after booking in we went to our room, unpacked and went to bed.
We got up early the next morning and got settled on the lounger by the pool. Lovely.
Except as more guests joined us, not only were they naked, but also having sex!
As we hurriedly got our things together and I was trying to stop my poor mum from passing out with shock, there were women as well as men trying to get us to join in!!
My mum actually biffed one of the men with her book while screaming go away you pervert!
We got moved the same day. It appears that what we thought an adult hotel meant actually meant something else.
When we got home she told my dad that she had been taken to a perverts paradise and she would never let me choose the hotel again.....even though it was actually her who picked it. 😂

twolobsters · 21/08/2019 19:50

@Maneandfeathers Your post really upset me. Your poor DS. I hope it didn't deter him from getting up and taking part since. I'm absolutely dreading anyone treating my DC like this, kids can be so cruel ... But especially with parenting like that Sad

Al2O3 · 21/08/2019 19:56

@AllBellsNoWhistles

I think you should name the hotel here. This is just so that other MN members and myself do not unwittingly book it.

Please Wink

Noodles12 · 21/08/2019 19:58

On holidays in Spain last July
Myself and DH were at a table watching the hotel entertainment and our two DC at the nearby playground area
DH noticed a family group near us
A young mum had rescued her little toddler from a little fall but he was upset and crying
Small bump on the head, no cuts but child was upset more from the shock
The husband kept at her to leave and go to the hospital (on her own) what seems to be his extended family all had a go at her for nearly an hour
Child was tired and crying, it was late
She ended up leaving on her own in a taxi to a hospital and got the all clear
Family returned to their drinks
The way he put her down in front of everyone and not one of them helped her

Really felt sorry for her as they were so nasty to her

Theromanempire · 21/08/2019 19:58

allbells me and DH booked an adults only hotel in Jamaica about 20 years ago...leading up to it, I started to get paranoid that it was going to be that kind of hotel! Fortunately it wasn't but more luck than judgement I feel!

AllBellsNoWhistles · 21/08/2019 20:05

It was called Blue Bay Paradise. It may have changed name / ownership now though. It was 15 years ago.

AllBellsNoWhistles · 21/08/2019 20:10

@TheRomanEmpire.
Hedonis 2 is the one you're thinking of. I stayed in the RIU tropical next door to it when I went with my DH. Our room overlooked it, fortunately that is all we saw of it.
Except for my DH who went for a wander onto their beach ( nudist ) and was sorely disappointed not to see any model like women.😂

iklboo · 21/08/2019 20:25

We accidentally went on an 18-30 type holiday when I was about 11. My mum booked it out of the paper. That was an eye opener. My nana & I spent a lot of the time in our room.

The other year my parents (late 60s) went to Kavos by mistake. They'd 'got in' with some bar owners on a cruise who invited them over to their apartments at a reduced rate. I don't think dad has recovered.

Maneandfeathers · 21/08/2019 20:30

@twolobsters ah he was okay after a little while but I was so angry seeing his confused little face. He has never really seen violence and didn’t know how to react so he just curled into a ball while the boy stamped on him Sad (obviously kids squabble but this was totally different)

He is still shy but plays fine with others Smile

I still wish I had gone over and dealt with the mother but people like that are beyond help!

DuggeesWoggle · 21/08/2019 20:38

Not on holiday but the other week in a packed local park - girl of about 9 or 10 holding a baby (sister?) like a doll, then sitting with the poor baby on a roundabout while other kids whizzed them and the other hundred or so kids on it round. No sign of parents. Not exactly bad behaviour but I was s bit Confused and hoped she was keeping a good grip on the baby.

Same park shortly afterwards, young toddler, maybe 18 months old, staggering about with a hard boiled sweet lolly on a stick in his mouth. Family looked rough as chuff and I'm heavily pregnant and my young DS with me so didn't like to say anything but was wincing at how dangerous it was.

fluffyjumper · 21/08/2019 20:41

Love this thread. The worst behaviour I have ever witnessed was in turkey. We were sat in a lovely resturant and the table next to us where being very loud and making racist comments. The staff just carried on giving them good service. I hope they spat in thier food before serving it to them.

I also saw some very strange behaviour at Disney world. From mobility scooters being used to push people out of the way to customers making complaints that that the bus driver let me to the front of the line as I was carrying a sleeping 5 year old (buggies had to be folded on buses).

QOD · 21/08/2019 21:19

I accidentally took a 10 year old, 11!year old and 60 year old to Malia ...
‘Twas like a daily episode of The Inbetweeners round the pool
Tales of fingering and fucking ... the 11’yr old was
Clueless, the 10yr old was all ears 🍆

batedbreath · 21/08/2019 21:22

We stayed at posh resort in antigua last year. A guy from the watersports team had trapped a mongoose and was stoning it to death. Child guests were watching on stunned and shocked. He said it was 'dinner'. The next day we did ask him how was 'dinner'? Fantastic he said. We just felt this was normal for some people in Antigua so not our right to question.....

Paddy1234 · 21/08/2019 22:30

@AllBellsNoWhistles
😂 tears rolling down my face
Sorry ❤️

Sarahisthatyou · 21/08/2019 22:49

Conference in Italy, bit of a tourist trap hotel. Woke up early to nip down and prep in meeting room for a presentation - opened the door to the lovely sight of an orange, muscly chap getting a BJ off a lady friend just across the corridor. From the state of them they’d clearly just got home ( 6am) and not quite made it into the room. I walked RIGHT passed them they didn’t stop...

TipTopAllOverTheShop · 21/08/2019 23:02

Camping this summer near Loch Ness and a family rocked up using all the wheel barrows to lug their stuff up to their pitch (no cars allowed on the small pitch area)... Stuff stayed in wheelbarrows all evening they decided to get drinks rather than set up sleeping bags etc. The Scottish matriarch of the lot then turned nasty on her family saying she'd paid for the holiday she'd do what the feck she wants (actual swearing at shouting pitch when the rest of campsite were young families and trying to sleep at 10.30pm). Followed by more abhorrent swearing and total disregard for the rest of the campsite. Finally fell asleep to be woken up by the stupid woman screaming!!!! The men in the group seemed very embarrassed. I'm reckoning she was an alcoholic.

TipTopAllOverTheShop · 21/08/2019 23:04

Get drunk not drinks
