Mine is a father throwing a drink in his daughter's face. She was about six and had knocked it over after he had queued to get it.

We need to hear more of the Marmaris stories 😱

CutsAndSnoozes · 20/08/2019 22:41

@AgnesNaismith made me laugh and I needed that

I'm at a campsite just outside of Staines, and yesterday eve someone was carted off in a police car. I thought that was dodgy enough til I read everyone else on this thread

Sat on an all night bus in Loas, put my head back to try and sleep, 10min later feel something hard run over the top of my head, jerk up and look around - the man in the seat behind me was stroking my scalp with his AK47. All calm and drinking Fanta, he just stared at me. Why??

HairyFloppins · 20/08/2019 22:59

Mine are quite tame really. In Benidorm in an all inclusive hotel a mum got very drunk and was trying to force her two young children into the pool. Fortunately the lifeguard intervened and removed the children and got security. She was extremely well behaved the rest of the holiday though.

Also in Benidorm, a English woman and Spanish man fighting over a parasol. It was very to you to me sort of thing. Quite funny to watch.

In Kenya in a touristy beach town that had a group of old British blokes paying various women for sex. I was in a bar with my dh and we were sat next to them and they were discussing the various merits of these different women, who they’d book for tomorrow, laughing at the fact it cost less than £5 to hire them for the day. All spoken about as though they were deciding which excursion to go on.

Another one was in Thailand and a couple were telling us how they’d seen a moped with a dad and a young child one crash into a bus. Apparently the dad died immediately and the child had one side of their body skinned from the crash. The couple were absolutely outraged by it and told me that they shouldn’t have had to see things like that on their holiday. No compassion or concern at all.

DoesThisLookRight · 20/08/2019 23:09

chilledteacher I’m not sure I would consider screaming because the person sat next to you is dying is bad behaviour.

chilledteacher · 20/08/2019 23:10

Doesthis no, neither do I. Tbf I completely forgot the context of the thread and thought it a horrible holiday stories thread. My apologies.

Very tame conpaired to some of these but my Ds has a pool inflatable in the shape of a speed boat. It was by our sun beds drying when Ds had finsished using it. This German man came up picked it up and started to walk off with it. My husband went to stop him and the man pushed him on the shoulder and again tried to walk off. Lucky my husband does not get mad easily and he just grabbed the inflatable off him. The German man muttered about the fucking English and walked off.
A couple of days later he tried to take it off Ds when he was walking to the pool with it. My DH shouted Oi and started to go over and the man ran off
Then when Ds was on the pool the mans two kids swam over and tried to push Ds off it. Again DH stepped towards the pool and they ran off. At this point with the lifeguard cam over and asked us what was going on. When we explained he went over and had a word. When he came back to us apparently the German man had said we stole it. I offered to show the lifeguard the receipt as I still had it as I had bought it from the hotel shop. The lifeguard said no need and had warned them that any more trying to take it and they would be reported to management and asked to leave.
Lucky the family in question were only there for 1 more day but we had to suffer evils that night at the kids club and one of the kids following Ds around trying to push him over.

All very very very weird

I have absolutely nothing to add (thank god) but OMG these stories!!!! May just never leave my hometown now!!

justbeingadad · 20/08/2019 23:20

2 for me.

  1. A guy on a flight from Toronto to Heathrow. I had a 6month old and a 4 year old with me. It was a night flight. My kids were asleep. This guy across the aisle had been tapping his cup in tune to the music he was listening to for a good 40 minutes. I gave up and tapped him on his shoulder (he had headphones one) and very nicely asked if he could stop tapping. His response....."People with fucking children should fuck off"
  1. Another flight. Melbourne to Sydney. Women by herself with 2 kids, probably 6 months and 2 years. The moment she sat down the baby cried the moment she comforted the baby the 2 yo whinged. She did her absolute best to calm them both. She was obviously utterly stressed. Probably the first flight she'd taken I guess. A guy a couple of rows back, across from me was constantly muttering and sighing and eventually made a comment to a guy sat next to him who shrugged and said it's fine.
chilledteacher · 20/08/2019 23:22

DoesThis, I've reported myself and asked for my post to be removed. Once again, my apologies.

BrigitsBigKnickers · 20/08/2019 23:30

Parents who ignored their 6 year old floating out to see on a lilo...

Thankfully there were three people who swam out to bring her back. Parents were getting drunk on the beach totally unaware of the near tragedy and didn't even thank the people who saved their daughter.

FredaFrogspawn · 20/08/2019 23:30

Young newly wed couple honeymooning in our Caribbean hotel. Very shy Asian couple - seemed awkward together, lots of blushing and being polite. He suddenly attempted to be playful by the swimming pool and out of the blue chucked her in the deep end. Turned out she couldn’t swim and had to be rescued by a nearby man - much terrified screaming and splashing. Everyone was frozen with horror. She stormed off furiously, clearly shocked and mortified - he was muttering sorry sorry - I didn’t know you couldn’t swim. They were sitting in stony silence every time we saw them after that for the rest of the fortnight. I sometimes wonder if their short marriage every recovered.

Toneitdown · 20/08/2019 23:53

Seeing a flirty young couple in the pool together. Probably about 19/20. Loads of touching and giggling and blowing kisses. He couldn't stop staring at her chest and she was happily flaunting it to him. Later on we found out they were brother and sister.

jakesmommy · 21/08/2019 00:04

We went to Butlins Minehead this year and stayed in a bungalow, the people in the bungalow next door had a big fight the 2nd night, shouting and screaming at each other from 11 til about 3 in the morning, we reported in to customer services and they behaved for the rest of the week.

Avonandice · 21/08/2019 00:07

On holiday in spain middle DC had one of the mermaid tails and swim fin and she had taken it off to swim normally and one of the other children swiped it and then claimed it was hers when I spoke to the mother. However I had written her name and address in both the inside of the tail and on the swim fin so the lifeguard got it back for us. When told to give it back the child threw the fin at the window of the pool and smashed it causing the indoor pool to be closed while they emptied it and removed the chunks of glass from the pool.

Also I spent the fortnight fending off advances from local gentlemen towards my 15yr old daughter, which is how I found out how fluent she is in spanish swear words.

DemiGorgon · 21/08/2019 00:23

Shortly after graduating, my very blonde friend and I took a cheap holiday to Tunisia in January.
We befriended a BA stewardess on same trip having a solo break.
Blonde friend was constantly being harrassed by men .

But shockingly, BA girl left a bar before us, when we got to the hotel she was in reception crying. She had gone to bed (in her solo room) and the night guy who had handed her key, used the master key to access her room and tried to pin her to the bed and rape her..
We demanded manager was called- he knew who we meant. Perpetrator asked for forgiveness as this job was his only way of supporting his whole family. He cried and we persuaded her to press charges despite his tears. (My god the rank accom the hotel gave to staff!).
BA girl then ended up sleeping on a mattress in our room for the rest of the week as she was so scared. So not quite the relaxing break any of us imagined, but BA girl was lovely and we all stuck closely together after that.

I'll never forget the time this guy pushed his wife so hard that she literally flew through the air and landed amongst all the pieces on display outside a rattan furniture shop 😱

cricketmum84 · 21/08/2019 00:40

Witnessed a Russian man slapping his son who was about 6 or 7 round the face in the pool for splashing him.

He was then sat crying with his mum who was obviously too scared to say anything to the dad.

Awful thing to see :( and I couldn't do anything as he was huge and terrifying and Russian.

Siameasy · 21/08/2019 00:40

We saw the police arrest a naked man in the street in Mallorca and my DD still goes on about it now. It was the highlight of her holiday.

cricketmum84 · 21/08/2019 00:40

P.s before anyone jumps on me he had the Russian flag tattooed on his back which is how I knew he was Russian...

MT2017 · 21/08/2019 01:02

OMG I so should not have read this thread, we fly out to Turkey not Marmaris Grin in less than 12 hours Confused

@avonandice had thought about marking floats, don't usually as we leave them for other families, but your post has persuaded me!

Ericaequites · 21/08/2019 01:03

This happened about ten years ago in Truro, Massachusetts. My (now ex husband) and I were staying at a timeshare resort. I went downstairs alone to soak in the hot tub. A German couple joined me. They wanted a threesome with me. I said no, but they kept offering money up to a thousand dollars. I climbed out out of the tub, and quickly went back to our efficiency.
