I HAVE A TREADMILL!

I am a lazy arse. No way around it.
I ballooned to size 20 and it's really not OK. Over the years I have had a rowing machine on which I fucked my back up, the bike thing, for which I was too lazy and a stepper, which is way too hard and gives me crumps.

I eat healthy food, do obviously sin, like everyone does, but main problem is my lack of movement.

So I found used treadmill and wooohoooo. It's great! I read when on it or put some show on and it's a bliss. Sweaty, but bliss. Sweaty as in I look like I just walked out of shower.

But no one except my DH knows! Because firstly, I want to have that "Erm... You lost weight! Awesome!" when I eventually lose, from people who haven't seen me for a bit. Blush
And secondly because if my family got a whiff of it I would hear "So have you used it today?" and so on every. Single. Day.🙄

But I need to tell someone that I have a treadmill and am actually using it, so here I am 😁

Well done OP. I used ours to train for the Race For Life (I walk it due to other health conditions). Some music on and away I go.

lyralalala · 20/08/2019 16:05

Well done you!

I have one and it lives in our living room because I’m a fucking idiot and I ‘upgraded to swanky improved model for £10’ at the checkout without checking it was the same dimensions Blush

The kids chuckle everytime I’m on it because it just fits and no more

I’m doing couch to 5k but I’m walking rather than jogging. I find the chatting through br programmes really helps

sheepysheep · 20/08/2019 16:20

Good on you! I have one too and I love it. People can be quite scathing about them and say they’re boring (inferring that you’re boring for going on them) and also that running / walking on the TM isn’t as good as being outside. It isn’t in terms of fresh air and sunlight - but it’s better than not doing it and sitting on the sofa instead! Also I love to either enjoy a bit of peace and quiet or zone out with music / podcast / telly. I wasn’t a runner at all when we got ours (second hand on eBay). I was just at home with a small child and wanted to do some exercise. I did the C25k programme and now do quite a lot of running (outside and in). Enjoy it, try to get on it most days and don’t worry at all about distance or speed. If you can’t run you could maybe try gradually increasing the incline as you get fitter if you want. Enjoy :-)

IAmALazyArse · 20/08/2019 16:21

@FudgeBrownie2019 that's great! Keep it up!

@iklboo great job on that! I couldn't probs even walk it at the moment.

@lyralalala Keep it up! I had a measurement mishap too. It's longer than expected. As long as it works, eh😁

@sheepysheep you did really well! I am actually positive about this😁

IAmALazyArse · 20/08/2019 16:25

I hvae another secret🙈
I use slenderbelt when on it. It seems to help my core hence less back pain.
I might get electrocuted once with all that equipment (incl. tablet I read on)😂

SayOohLaLa · 20/08/2019 16:28

OP ignore that 10% over the maximum weight thing. They'll have built a margin into that way over your curent weight, and you won't be your current weight for long anyway. That 10% will be going.

I'm jealous as I'd love to have a treadmill, but we don't have the space for one. Write "Ooooh. You look good, what's different? You lost weight!" in a frame and hang it in front of the treadmill so you have your incentive to keep going.

IAmALazyArse · 20/08/2019 19:54

Did 3km today and it feels ok!

@SayOohLaLa it's stuffed in a spareroom and I will probably have to take 1 shelves out so there is enough space around as it is used as a study.
My mirror is good motivation by itself🙈

AlpacaGoodnight · 20/08/2019 20:03

Sounds fab! Keep it up!

PennyNotSoWise · 20/08/2019 20:10

Did 3km today and it feels ok!

Well done OP! It's great catching the fitness bug.

I've got a treadmill, doing c25k on it. It's an amazing feeling when you don't think you'll be able to advance, but then actually do. I'm currently re binging The Walking Dead, so I wack that when I'm on it as a distraction from the burning Grin

It feels good going from thinking about it to actually getting started, doesn't it?

IAmALazyArse · 20/08/2019 20:35

@AlpacaGoodnight thanks!

@PennyNotSoWise I actually didn't really think about it. I woke up and did "You know what? I will get a treadmill"😂
But yeah. It feels good. Though I am always exhhhhhausted after the work out. Understandably imho since I am dragging all that weight. Keep it up!!

My DH made me laugh😂 He came up with
"Well if you start adding extra time slowly, it will really make a difference. Half an hour is great, but working up to an hour will make the weightloss faster"
His jaw dropped when I said I am already doing an hour🤨
I bloody send him pics towards the end which show an hour😂

Can I ask you all. Especially ones quite overweight (100kg+)
What shoes do you use? I am on a lookout for new ones. I have Sketchers slip ons, lovely bouncy but my ankles seem to want to make close friends with the floor. Do you use normal trainers or more like the higher walking boots? I fear for my ankles.

NeedingAdvice29 · 20/08/2019 20:44

Treadmills are great 😁 And you’re doing great too! I was the same with motivation too, just never seem to have any. Only eventually found some to quit the binge eating and fizzy juice when I started having health problems but I dropped a stone in 6 weeks just by cutting out the sweets and juice and doing Zumba workouts 15 mins a day then increasing to 30 after a month (alone in my bedroom when no one was around cause I was that embarrassed/self conscious!!) Found that now I’m seeing results I have a lot more motivation to do it, a lot more confidence too Grin

ElizaDee · 20/08/2019 20:53

Go and have a gait analysis. They'll fit you with the right trainers for your feet/ankles. People's feet either roll inwards or outwards and you need the right support. Sweatshop do it. And get a proper sports bra, the shock absorber run bra was the best when I was running.

Wouldilie2u · 20/08/2019 21:17

I can confirm getting them up the stairs is hard work: in fact, when we heaved ours up the stairs the effort was too much and I farted.
Unfortunately, I then got a fit of the giggles and I came over all weak, while desperately trying to hang onto 'my end' to stop it falling down the stairs and crushing my husband on the way.Grin
Well done, OP [clap]

envelopeofpubes · 20/08/2019 21:48

Strongly recommend the Peloton ap for anyone with a spin bike or treadmill looking for programmes, online and live classes.

georgialondon · 20/08/2019 21:55

I love my treadmill. I understand!

myusernamewastakenbyme · 20/08/2019 21:56

I had a treadmill too...it turned into a clothes horse....

PurpleFlower1983 · 20/08/2019 21:58

I love my treadmill, it’s had to be relegated to the attic since DD was born but I still love it! Just need to start using it again now!

IAmALazyArse · 20/08/2019 22:53

My ankles aim in. When i was young I used to have to wear orthopaedic shoes to keep feet in order.

You all are actually making me properly excited about this 😁

OP posts:
Passmethepepsi · 20/08/2019 22:59

I bought one a few years ago. Its stood up against the wall as a storage unit Blush

You’ve motivated me to set it up tomorrow! I have a lot of weight to lose

cakeandchampagne · 20/08/2019 23:02

@Blobby10 ‘sweat is just fat cells crying’ Smile

@IAmALazyArse Star Well done!

justilou1 · 20/08/2019 23:09

Go, you good thing!!! And it will work, too!!! I can say this, because I am proof. That little bit better that you begin to feel will give you the confidence to implement and stick to the other lifestyle changes that you will put in place to get where you need to be!!!
You know you will still be you. It’s really important to acknowledge this. I have lost 60kgs. (Will see what that is in stones for you - almost 9.5. Holy shitballs! Just realized that’s half my current body weight!) It’s taken a while to lose of course, and the health benefits are obviously immense. I have been inspired to start studying nursing. My first clinical placement really brought home the importance of maintaining the weightloss, too. I got to see how many elderly, and not so elderly people are suffering from serious but preventable illness due to weight. I’m 47 and it doesn’t feel that far off now!!!

justilou1 · 20/08/2019 23:11

*not half my current body weight.... that IS my current body weight. I have lost one entire me of fat. No wonder I felt like crap!

justilou1 · 20/08/2019 23:11

Oh, and I still dry my sheets on my treadmill, too!
