The knives are out for the royal family

It may be deserved in some cases, however it would seem the gloves are off as far as the media are concerned. They have lived high on the hog for centuries so what is new?

Am scratching my head here is it shoot the royal family season or a smoke and mirrors exercise designed to distract us from something more important??

I would hate to be in the PR business with the RF just now.

Prince Andrew will never recover from this latest scandal.

IcedPurple · 19/08/2019 20:46

In fact, I'm sure it's making their relationship even stronger.

You're sure of this, are you?

SeriouslyEnoughAlreadyRantOver · 19/08/2019 20:47

of course he will
and in a couple of months, no one will remember. Kim Kardashian will dye a hair or lose a nail and the story will be buried.

Monestasi · 19/08/2019 20:54

We can see the haters for what they are

It must be past your bedtime.

Pamplemousecat · 19/08/2019 20:56

Is that you Elton Grin

Notmyrealname855 · 19/08/2019 20:57

Not sure how much we can say about Andrew or Mountbatten. So going to rant about Harry Grin

At the risk of sounding overly woke (I’m a leftie) I really would love a programme where Harry explains how he went from using racist slurs and dressing as a Nazi, and saying war is like a video game, to what I hope is the opposite of all this. Because his PR team did a great job at whitewashing all that away. He was the only person I’d heard our age saying these things and he seemed shockingly behind. And now he tells us to be woke... dude, you’re a generation behind and you benefit still from a viciously unfair system whilst telling people how to live fairly.

Erm... as a leftie, not buying it. So if he doesn’t appeal to me... well he doesn’t seem to appeal to traditionalists either.

Agree with pp, his celebrity collapses if he’s not in the royals. But staying in the royals threatens his celebrity as he’s slowly tumbling down the pecking order.

Meanwhile W&K seem... fine? But how many events have they ever done? They’re really lucky their kids are cute, it detracts from the fact they do so few engagements. And ever did... which is strange as their foreign tours seemed a success.

Anne is the only one I like. She’s pretty straightforward, the opposite of self serving, and does more engagements than the rest. And those engagements aren’t exactly glamorous a la the younger royals.

Think after the queen it’ll all be wound down. Praise be!

hereforasillygoosetime · 19/08/2019 21:02

@Toooldnowx Pipe down Elton.

Swellerellamoo · 19/08/2019 21:04

I was so disgusted by the Andrew video in Epstein's house i have finally has enough of the royals. Take away their royal status and give the land / houses over to the people as museums. Or possibly a lottery air b and b for extended family gatherings.

IcedPurple · 19/08/2019 21:12

Anne is the only one I like

Anne seems OK... but Camila looks like the kind of royal I could do business with.

Ibiza2015 · 19/08/2019 21:13

Then why the fuck did she marry into British royalty? She targeted and bagged him for the prestige

I think that’s a little unfair. A lot of women seem to find Harry attractive and despite being extremely dim is reputed to be kind and considerate and nice. It’s not like Harry is some awful nasty Gollum so she needs to lie back and think of England.

I suspect the problems in that marriage won’t be because she is pretending to love him, I think they will be because Harry has fallen in love with a woman who doesn’t really exist and is just a facade.

Pamplemousecat · 19/08/2019 21:19

It seems as though MM is just acting. Her PDAs just look embarrassing and fake. I just don’t think she’s being genuine. He has married for love but she has married for love of fame and money. She wouldn’t have given him a second glance if he weren’t a Prince.

IcedPurple · 19/08/2019 21:19

I suspect the problems in that marriage won’t be because she is pretending to love him, I think they will be because Harry has fallen in love with a woman who doesn’t really exist and is just a facade.

There's also the fact that they barely knew each other. Less than two years passed between their first meeting and their wedding. And that's not two years of normal dating - they weren't even living on the same continent. It was all romantic weekends in Toronto, glamping in Botswana, pap strolls in Kensington. An extended holiday romance, really. It's easy to be on your best behaviour in such circumstances.

No wonder William supposedly warned his brother not to rush into things.

Pamplemousecat · 19/08/2019 21:22

It could be of course that she just has an unfortunate manner but all her facial expressions seem OTT and rehearsed. I never think that with Kate

LizzieSiddal · 19/08/2019 21:26

I agree. It made me feel sick when I saw it. Why does anyone stay in the house of a convicted pedophile, recently released from prison?

He’ll get away with it, but the public won’t forget. I also think like others, that once the queen goes, the Royal Family’s behaviour and lifestyle will not be tolerated for very long.

MangoFeverDream · 19/08/2019 21:31

Tbf I think that with Kate quite a lot ... expressions so OTT but maybe that’s because she’s always next to Mr Clenched Jaws

CathyorClaire · 19/08/2019 21:33

but this was also a job in the city that any old toff could’ve got, so pretty under the radar

But any old toff didn't get it.

If it's RBS (is it?) it's implicated in Fred the Shred's mad machinations. Yet another dodgy royal association?

SchadenfreudePersonified · 19/08/2019 21:38

I like Suits more for Donna and poor Louis

I like Louis, too.

Slimey, but somehow vulnerable. Great character, well acted.

Notmyrealname855 · 19/08/2019 21:53

Remember when Harry came out with a warning about the press when he and Meghan first got together? Think that was a sign of things to come - waaaaaay OTT considering all the goodwill and hope for a happy relationship and “happy ever after”, plus tbh I’d never heard of her or even knew they were dating. Even on all the silly gossip websites I read none even knew they were dating! None had gone looking for pics of them together. He went in all guns blazing... drama llama and a negative start. And now all their press is bad, what could have been :(

Andrew is beyond awful. Imagine if Beatrice marries... would he be there? Imagine him in a church!! And they say Philip doesn’t like Fergie Hmm Grim family.

Pamplemousecat · 19/08/2019 21:57

I’m asking myself if France have the right idea. Not that I would ever condone a violent revolution of any sort. That has no place in today’s society but a cutting down of the titled family to the bare minimum. The hangers on can go whistle for it and make their own money. Yep that’s you H and M

Gobbolinocat · 19/08/2019 22:03

Not my real name...

What do you mean... I'm woke I'm a lefty, not sure what else we can say about Prince Andrew, back to Megan and Harry Confused

Tbh I don't know why more posters aren't talking about pa..

I can't match up what he's done and Harry being misguided and patronising? Pa knowingly hanging out with epstein.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 19/08/2019 22:12

Prince Andrew will never recover from this latest scandal

I doubt it will matter at all to him if he doesn't, though. Just as long as he has the money to live as he likes, a steady supply of oligarchs to leech off and mummy's back-up to keep any real unpleasantness at bay, why should he care?

After all, if any real crime came too close, the Queen could always have another Paul Burrell-esqe "suddenly remembered conversation" ...

AudacityOfHope · 19/08/2019 22:15

Americans are friendly only until they realise people aren't going to be useful to them?!

What, like, all Americans? 300 million of them?

Some shitty comments on here from people who clearly have never met any actual normal American people Confused

Notmyrealname855 · 19/08/2019 22:16

Gobbolinocat I’m very left-leaning politically and socially :) I used to read more conservative papers to try and see things from another perspective - they used to call lefties “woke” as a criticism but I don’t mind it :)

As in, legally I’m not sure what we’re allowed to say about Andrew and Mountbatten. Thought actually credit to the likes of the Daily Mail for reporting on so much and so honestly. They must have good lawyers.

Notmyrealname855 · 19/08/2019 22:18

With Epstein... literally how did he fly all over the world with these children? It makes you wonder at the border checks anyone bothers doing when you’re rich and famous...

derxa · 19/08/2019 22:19

Really? A man who said he could "grab" a woman by the "pussy", and whose sole criterion for judging women is whether or not they are fkable is hardly one whose opinion of any individual is worthy of consideration. You misunderstand me. I don't think Trump is a good person. I think he knows the whole story. Trump ditched Epstein but cannot understand why PA didn't. Trump thinks PA is an absolute moron and doesn't want to associate with him. They're all revolting- Trump Epstein Clinton Dershowitz (sp) and many others. The amount of people associated with the Clintons who have died in mysterious circumstances is quite staggering for instance.
