unbelievable, i could smell it, it was bubble gum, or at least fruity.
however they are a cheap opticians so we will have to go back

dementedpixie · 18/08/2019 10:04

So it wasn't even the optician, just the receptionist?

Cannyhandleit · 18/08/2019 10:07

But you said 'lady in charge was chewing gum'
Is the receptionist really 'in charge'??

EleanorReally · 18/08/2019 10:11

Whilst massively unprofessional, yes and i might of come out the shop shaking my head and thinking "wow unprofessional". Your attitude is as rude and is very very judgemental.

why am i rude and you are not? We share the opinion

Mumsymumphy · 18/08/2019 10:18

Hold the front page!

Feverslag · 18/08/2019 10:19

I read your first few posts as sarcasm!

EleanorReally · 18/08/2019 10:24

It could be tongue in cheek if you like

OP posts:
NaughtToThreeSadOnions · 18/08/2019 10:31

Because mine would have been a moments humm unprofessional no futher thought, no 'waryiness'. No reporting to the shop. Just a little hum unproffesional ok then. And what would also have run through my head would have been maybe nicotine gum, maybe health of other sorts gum ie to stimulate siliva etc.

It would literally been a split second thought and then i'd have got on with the rest of my life. Totally unbothered by it.

You on the other hand have started a thread, on a public forum, arguing with any one that disagrees with you making comments like "i wouldnt put it passed her to stsrt blowing bubbles in my face" your responses are loaded with judgemental attitude, you've agreed with some one calling it 'common' thats judgemental you've almost encouraged phases like "terminally dim" (maybe unwittingly but start a judgemental thread you'll always get judgemental replys).

Your posts are snobbish and rude

EleanorReally · 18/08/2019 10:42

i didnt agree with the common phrase, i didnt encourage terminally dim

but so be it, if you can conclude i am snobbish and rude you are making the judgments

OP posts:
DrFoxtrot · 18/08/2019 10:51

YANBU I'd find this unprofessional too.

NaughtToThreeSadOnions · 18/08/2019 11:10

didnt encourage terminally dim

Can you read?? I said why you encouraged it you started in my oppinion nasty snobbish thread in the hope you'd get nasty snobbish comments back. You encouraged it by being snobby in the first place

iklboo · 18/08/2019 11:15

I will report back when we go back

Should cause some hilarity at the Christmas party.

iklboo · 18/08/2019 11:17

but so be it, if you can conclude i am snobbish and rude you are making the judgments

Pot. Kettle.

TeamUnicorn · 18/08/2019 11:18

Is the receptionist really 'in charge'??

Aren't all receptionist in charge? I thought that was how the world worked?

SeroxatBlonde · 18/08/2019 11:18

Who makes the rule that chewing gum is 'unprofessional?'

Anyone with manners.

iklboo · 18/08/2019 11:36

Aren't all receptionist in charge? I thought that was how the world worked?

No. The manager will be in charge.

BuzzShitbagBobbly · 18/08/2019 11:49

It is unprofessional, especially for people that will be right in your face. Opticians get very close up to you so yeah it is basic professional standards to ensure you don't have bad breath or chewing gum etc if you are one.

Cannyhandleit · 18/08/2019 11:50

@BuzzShitbagBobbly it was the receptionist

WhentheRabbitsWentWild · 18/08/2019 12:04

Are you THAT bored ?

ffs

NaughtToThreeSadOnions · 18/08/2019 12:08

you can conclude i am snobbish and rude you are making the judgments

I'm judging no one, i'm telling you what you are doing.

Also i haven't started a thread "aibu to be weary of mn because of one user....unbelivable ...she was snobby and rude and kept denying she was. Will go back as good forum" ok i can't cos it would be a taat. But i wouldnt any way i'd go hummm okay. Rude.

But isn't interesting how defensive you are when you feel "judged" yet you are the one thats started a whole thread just to judge another person.

EleanorReally · 18/08/2019 12:14

hmm,
well no one has managed to change my mind . no one has given a plausible excuse for her bad manners.
Just had lunch,
Nicorette

ok.
not my problem, We are going back, in spite of her unprofessional gum chewing habit

OP posts:
EleanorReally · 18/08/2019 12:15

i am not defensive, it makes me laugh, particularly the FFS are you bored comments.

OP posts:
TeamUnicorn · 18/08/2019 12:16

Ok. My attempt at humour obviously failed.

LatteLove · 18/08/2019 12:20

Are you drunk?

Yes it’s not great for a receptionist to be doing that but YABU if you think a receptionist is “in charge” of an optical practice. How does the receptionist chewing gum impact on the professionalism or competence of the optometrist, which is presumably the main reason you get your eyes tested in the first place

GrannyHaddock · 18/08/2019 12:32

OP, I'm completely with you here. Nobody in a professional or retail role should be eating, drinking, smoking, vaping or chewing while attending to a client. I went into a curtain/blind shop not long ago and the owner continued to eat porridge while answering my questions. I never went back. It's not snobbery, it's just expecting to be treated properly.

hobnobsaremyfavourite · 18/08/2019 12:35

Even the trolls and goady fuckers are shit on here these days
