To be upset DD couldn't go out with her friends to celebrate A level results?

Just that really. DD is 17, not 18 until late August. She is the youngest in her friend group and they all went out clubbing to celebrate, she couldn't go because she's not 18. She is devestated as now they're all posting pictures on social media.

I am really surprised how many people think it's ok to use a borrowed ID.

Marriedwithchildren5 · 19/08/2019 19:10

@Sparklingbrook we all did it, didn't we?

Sparklingbrook · 19/08/2019 19:13

No , no such thing when I was a teenager, IDs weren't required so i was clubbing away at 15 quite happily.

BringOnTheScience · 19/08/2019 19:19

DC1 turned 18 during their exams. Local popular teen haunts are VERY good at checking ID on the door and simply don't admit under 18s. Borrowing someone else's is highly unlikely to work as they all tend to use their driving licences (provisional or full) and they have photos.

Can't believe how many people are happy to say use fake ID it's a shame shes nearly there ect.

Venues, members of staff ect can face massive fines if there is some one drinking who shouldn't be.

Get a grip people

We had the same issue dd not 18 until Saturday. It’s been hard on her all year as she has missed out when they all went out to town for people’s birthdays and she couldn’t go

Exactly. It doesn't sit well with me. And I know that's possibly hypocritical due to my underage clubbing back in the day. However if IDS were necessary back then I wouldn't have had the nerve to use a fake/bought one.

BigSandyBalls2015 · 19/08/2019 19:34

I refused to buy DD fake ID as presumably it’s someones lost driving licence that should be handed in. But if they’re earning their own money and choose to do this there’s not really much we can do.

RingtheBells · 19/08/2019 19:48

Back in the old days you just had to remember to add a few years to your date of birth, though you were much more likely to be asked your age at the cinema when getting in to see an x rated film than a pub or club which rarely seemed to bother. When did IDs start being used, I was a 70s teenager and never had any ID at all

Watchingthyme · 19/08/2019 20:20

Most clubs ask for ID regardless of age. Won’t let you in without. I could be 55 and it would still apply.
The world has moved on people Hmm
