To think if you haven't eaten your Christmas choc by now it's fair game?

DSD had chocolate for Christmas and still hasn't eaten it. She didn't have a great deal - a pack of those smarties men type things and some choc coins etc. They're still in her drawer. AIBU to think if she hasn't eaten them by now it's fair game for the rest of the house?

Yes. 👍🏼

NotWavingButMNing · 16/08/2019 16:49

DS still has a box of red Lindt. I'm tempted to regift it.

Poppins2016 · 16/08/2019 16:50

YABU. In her position you'd expect your belongings to stay untouched!

OtraCosaMariposa · 16/08/2019 16:51

Wouldn't have lasted to February in this house.

Why don't you just eat them?

I would have done so if they were still available in January never mind August

Jemima232 · 16/08/2019 16:53

Wouldn't have lasted till Boxing Day in this.

DontBuyANewMumCashmere · 16/08/2019 16:56

Yabvu! I often leave chocolate for ages and it lasts much longer than my DH's.
I'd be furious if some grabby gannet ate MY chocolate! Hands off!

chuttypicks · 16/08/2019 17:05

Are they even still in date?

floatinglily · 16/08/2019 17:07

I definitely wouldn't. DP would have eaten it months ago and I wouldn't blame him in the slightest!

I don't eat much chocolate and will tend to keep any I get for Christmas or Easter for many, many months. But that doesn't mean I am not looking forward to eating it, and would be really upset if my DP decided that I obviously didn't want it so ate it himself.

floatinglily · 16/08/2019 17:08

Good point! I don't actually know

YABU to think you can help yourself to someone else's choc, but why not just ask her?

Angel2702 · 16/08/2019 17:41

I doubt it is still edible, opened a forgotten Easter egg and some mini eggs this week and the chocolate was completely gone. Usually starts going white and tasteless pretty quickly. Seasonal chocolate usually has a shorter shelf life.

floatinglily · 16/08/2019 19:48

but why not just ask her?

Because she says she wants them but then a year later they're still there...

While I cannot understand anyone who can keep chocolate longer than a week, you can't just eat someone else's chocolate. Go and buy your own! Or at least ask her if she still wants it.

LadyRannaldini · 16/08/2019 19:55

So if you have a fiver in your purse it's OK for this child to take it, because you haven't used it?

I found a taster box of Hotel Chocolat the other day, been there since before Christmas, anyone taking them gets their fingers chopped off!

Nautiloid · 16/08/2019 19:55

I found one of my DC's Halloween stashes the other day.

It's gone now.

pp12 · 16/08/2019 19:57

I would expect them to still to be there went I went looking if I are them I would leave a note saying I'll replace them

Nomoremilk · 16/08/2019 19:57

YABU to say "choc" it sounds disgusting.

Prisonbreak · 16/08/2019 20:10

I keep treats a long time and my man eats them and I honestly get so wound up when I realise. I used to be a really big girl and I’m now size 12 and trying for size 10 (uk size) so I’m really really conscious of what I eat. I was given chocolates for my birthday in July and I came home to find them empty yesterday. Any time I buy chocolate, I’ll have a tiny bit when I’m really struggling with sugar cravings. 1 dairy milk can last me 6 months. But eating someone else’s treats is not ok. Just ask.

sackrifice · 16/08/2019 20:11

You silly billy. All the chocolate melted the other week in the heat.

That's where it went. Right?

Yabbers · 16/08/2019 20:19

We have a drawer full of Easter chocolate. I told DD if she didn’t eat it soon, I would. She said to go ahead as she had had plenty.

Siameasy · 16/08/2019 20:30

I would eat it and feign ignorance if asked
We still have Easter chocolate which I’m using as a bribe

gingerbiscuits · 16/08/2019 20:39

Yes, you ARE being unreasonable- it's HERS!!!!! It's totally up to her what she does with it or how long she keeps it for!

BoomZahramay · 16/08/2019 20:46

My DH has 2 weeks to eat any choc, cake, etc. that is "his", and then it becomes mine "family food".
