To think if you haven't eaten your Christmas choc by now it's fair game?

DSD had chocolate for Christmas and still hasn't eaten it. She didn't have a great deal - a pack of those smarties men type things and some choc coins etc. They're still in her drawer. AIBU to think if she hasn't eaten them by now it's fair game for the rest of the house?

It's not yours, why would you take it? My boys have Christmas and Easter chocolate in their rooms. It's in absolutely fine condition. I'm a complete chocoholic but wouldn't dream of taking it.

I think this is one where the fact that it's the DSD makes a difference. She needs to feel that your house is also her home and that she's part of the family and that her things are respected. You could get away with this if it was your own child perhaps, but the dynamic is different.
Buy yourself (lots of) chocolate instead Grin.

You silly billy. All the chocolate melted the other week in the heat.

That's where it went. Right?

Exactly and in our home and our family chocolate gets eaten very rapidly and it's a snooze you lose situation.

I did check the expiry dates after someone mentioned it and they're out of date by several months

To the person who mentioned a fiver, that's totally different. Money typically doesn't have an expiry date.

Of course it’s still hers.

I just recently threw my Easter choc in the bin. I'd moved it from home to work, ate some, but seem tired of seeing it there so finally binned it!

It would have been fair game in February in this house Grin

I only just opened a box of chocolates I get for Christmas last week, I'd have been furious if someone thought they could man them just because I didn't eat them to their schedule!
