Hi everyone, I know that people will tell me to go to the doctor instead of self diagnosing, I went for a blood test yesterday and should have the results on Friday, it was just in case my blood test came back normal it would be great to hear other people's opinions on what this might be!

About three months ago I started waking up every night with horrific night sweats, so bad the mattress was soaked and it looked like it been in the shower. I know that this was during the heatwave but we kept our room cool and DH who is usually too warm at night was completely fine. The night sweats have calmed down quite a bit in the last two weeks ago because I now sleep with no clothes or covers.

I have been also experiencing very itchy skin all over and if I itch it a few hours later the itchy area becomes very bruised particularly with small round purple bruises that vary from pin prick size to the size of the tip of my finger. I've also been bruising very easily in general and am covered in bruises right now. About two months ago I was in a spin class and felt my finger starting to hurt, there had been absolutely no impact as I was gripping the handle bar and a couple of seconds after the pain part of my finger started to turn purple and bruised right before my eyes. I dont know if that is related to the current bruising but seemed odd.

I was just hoping to get a few ideas on what this Could be or if anyone has had anything similar? Many thanks.

Thank you for all the advice, it's hugely appreciated!

So the doctor I saw today was great. She took about a million blood tests and is testing me for e everything under the sun and has put the testing through as urgent. If the tests don't show anything she's going to refer me to an urgent haematology appointment. She has also signed me off work for the next week and a half. She understood how concerned I must be and is determined to get to the bottom of it.

Was reading this thread hoping this would be the outcome. Blood cancer jumped to my mind, although that may be because of my line of work.

Good luck OP, glad your GP is on the ball.

Sexnotgender · 21/08/2019 15:05

Great that she took you seriously. Really hope you get some answers soon Flowers

OoohOnly90CaloriesIllhave10 · 21/08/2019 15:13

Good luck OP.

BarbarAnna · 21/08/2019 15:17

Goodness me. Can’t believe they didn’t take this more seriously before today. Glad you have now had some thorough tests and what sounds like a sensible plan. Take care.

cheeseandcracker · 21/08/2019 15:18

Hope you get some answers soon. My daughter had ITP and had similar symptoms.

GreenFingersWouldBeHandy · 21/08/2019 15:19

Gosh. Sorry you're still not well (and that your boss is an arse).

Good news that your GP is taking it seriously though. Really hoping you are OK. Please keep updating us.

InterestingView · 21/08/2019 15:31

Oh OP I was reading your thread getting so frustrated but now I see your last update I'm so pleased that GP has done more for you. Why are your work being such dicks?! So good the docs signed you off. I do hope it's nothing sinister and you get better quickly.

princesjet2 · 21/08/2019 16:26

Thank you everyone, your messages have been making me feel better!

InterestingView they're not known to be particularly understanding, it's more the profession I'm in general, when you're more junior you're expected to sit at your desk until well past 5pm even if you've got no work to do, expected to be constantly stressed and miserable and are expected to have no social life just for the principle of it. Luckily I'm leaving this job and moving to another country with my husband, so I'm assuming that they are wanting to get every penny out of me whilst they still can!

Ah well done OP! Another country?! Wow big move. I hope you get this all resolved before you're planning to leave x

princesjet2 · 21/08/2019 22:54

Thanks @InterestingView, me too!!

How are you OP? X

princesjet2 · 22/08/2019 18:34

Hi Whatthe, I got a text earlier asking me to make an appointment with my GP to discuss my blood test results.
Phoned the reception and she said that some of my results were back, I have abnormal ESR results and abnormal blood clotting results, she said that 'slightly abnormal' was on the results so she was sure it wasn't something serious, but obviously couldn't give me any further information. My full blood count test has come back normal. Got an appointment tomorrow so will update then.

Hope you get answers tomorrow OP

BarbarAnna · 22/08/2019 19:18

Good luck tomorrow. Sounds like you are on the way to finding out what is going on.

ineedanotherholiday · 22/08/2019 19:26

Good luck OP hope it all gets sorted x

FrappeLatte · 22/08/2019 19:54

I’m glad this GP took it more seriously and that you’ve had some further tests done. Worrying that something had been picked up, but hopefully it’s nothing major and easily resolved. Please let us know how you get in tomorrow, fingers crossed for you.

Funghi · 22/08/2019 20:03

Thank goodness you eventually got a much more switched on GP.

ThatCurlyGirl · 22/08/2019 20:23

Hope tomorrow goes OK, thank goodness you found someone who took it seriously.

Unfortunately have had lots of illnesses and operations the last few years and I've learned you have to chase everyone for everything.

I always feel terrible because I know the strain the NHS is under but I probably wouldn't be here now without endless chasing.

Well done for keeping on the case, let us know how you get on if you get a chance Thanks

Sooverthemill · 22/08/2019 20:35

I hope you get some answers very soon princesjet. In my experience once you start having these types of tests you do get answers quite swiftly. Receptionists are not allowed to interpret test results. Doctors have to do that.

Whoopstheregomyinsides · 22/08/2019 20:41

Good luck in getting yourself sorted and well done for pushing. It sadly is the only way to get on

PositiveVibez · 22/08/2019 20:43

Hope you're okay OP 🤞

TinyTickler · 22/08/2019 20:46

What a worry for you.

Franklymydearidontgiveadam · 22/08/2019 20:49

Good luck Op. I have been watching this thread as I too keep having sweats and itching.

I've been fobbed off with fexofenadine.

Still itching. Fingers crossed all is OK xx

BarbarAnna · 22/08/2019 20:57

@Franklymydearidontgiveadam are you going back to the doctors?
