45 here and bought my first jigsaw recently, a 5000 view of Mousehole

PutyourtoponTrevor · 16/08/2019 15:37

And you need a jigsaw mat

Tighnabruaich · 16/08/2019 15:46

I love a jigsaw! I don't like it if husband joins in, as he wants to do it logically and get all the straight edges done first. I like to do random bits where I can see that things fit, I like to thing I do it organically, whereas he is a tight-arsed methodical joy sucker.

whothedaddy · 16/08/2019 16:00

need to go to a chazza shop and buy a jigsaw now.

They remind me of wet holidays in Wales in the October half term as a kid eating biscuits and doing puzzles with my dad

DerelictWreck · 16/08/2019 16:03

I started one at Christmas of the London Underground map. The lines were easy - did them in in a few hours. Which then left me with the white background....

We have that puzzle - when we finally cracked it we wrote numbers on the back of the plain white pieces in case we get stuck again in the future!

iklboo · 16/08/2019 16:20

I tried doing a big jigsaw with DS. Never again. He's an anarchist who doesn't to the edges first! Grin

TimeIhadaNameChange · 16/08/2019 16:23

DerelictWreck - that's a brilliant idea! Though, tbh, if I ever finish it I'm glueing it and framing it. I'm not risking having to do it all again, numbered or not!

22Giraffes · 16/08/2019 16:37

I love jigsaws, dp and I did a 1000 piece Krispy Kreme one that was given to the kids Blush def need to get some more. Not sure how to feel about the people who don't start from the edge! Shock lol

cantfindname · 16/08/2019 16:42

Have a look in the Works, they have some brilliant jigsaws with unusual shaped pieces. DH bought me one that's a sort of Magicians scene with lots of difficult reflections, 1000 pieces and took me ages. Really hard and loved every minute.

Th1me · 16/08/2019 17:46

My 16 year old dd loves a jigsaw. We sit and do them together which is lovely as we have really interesting conversations whilst we do them.

TinyMystery · 16/08/2019 17:48

YANBU! DH and I love a jigsaw and we’re 27 and 30! If we go to a holiday cottage/caravan/villa and there’s a jigsaw, that’s our holiday made! 😂

awsomeDean · 16/08/2019 18:14

We love a jigsaw in this house.
Wasgij's, photomosaic ones 1000 piece never less!

pigsDOfly · 16/08/2019 19:09

Someone once bought a double sided jigsaw for one of my DCs.

Don't think any of us managed to finish it; work of the Devil it was.

HenSolo · 16/08/2019 19:15

Does anyone else do them without looking at the image? I’ve caused a row with my friends cos I said they were cheating doing it looking at the box Grin

And I’m another who won’t let dp help. Bugger off!

TroysMammy · 16/08/2019 19:20

I don't like jigsaws mainly because of Polperro harbour and suchlike. All sea and sky, just the ones my DM used to buy me for Christmas, which I found out years later they are the type she likes. I'm also hopeless at looking at a piece and knowing where it should go.

This thread Meade me sit and do a jigsaw tonight . I may have a large stack of them ...... chose a Matt Sewell birds one. 500 pieces and quite satisfyingly easy to do. Smile

StCharlotte · 17/08/2019 09:42

I had a smallish round one of a plate of a Chinese meal. I was ill when I did it and the obvious greasiness of the food made me quite queasy. They did a plate of baked beans in the same series.

NoLeopard · 17/08/2019 09:49

Love jigsaws! Normally 1000 pieces but this was 500 and I'm just going to start a similar one of the periodic table.

Iwantacookie · 17/08/2019 10:17

Ah I love a good jigsaw. I downloaded an app on my phone but it's not the same.

When I was about 10ish I had a circle shaped jigsaw. No one believed me until they came to my house and I showed them.
That might still be up my dm loft. Shall look tomorrow when I'm there.

Cherrysoup · 17/08/2019 10:21

I work in a library and we have a table where there is always a jigsaw puzzle set up for anyone (adults) to work on. A great stress reliever

That is such a fabulous idea!

Matildatoldsuchdreadfullies · 17/08/2019 10:21

OP, if Dh has got in in the action, make sure you remove 2 or 3 pieces and hide them in a secure location. That way it’s guaranteed you will be the person to finish the jigsaw.

barberousbarbara · 17/08/2019 10:34

I love a jigsaw and so do half the office at work. I can happily spend a whole day doing one on a rainy day. Unfortunately the cat also likes jigsaws

To confess....
grafittiartist · 17/08/2019 10:46

Helpful!! But lovely company :)

CustardySergeant · 17/08/2019 10:52

I love jigsaws, but I do mine online. Have you seen this site thejigsawpuzzles.com/? It's free, there are thousands of puzzles and you can choose not only the number of pieces, but even the shape. I find it a very good way to relax.
