I get pushed out of doing jigsaws by my DH and now my DCs. I dream of finishing one when they're not at home.

MollysMummy2010 · 14/08/2019 01:39

@parrotsforlife I am worried about this as the cat is asleep on the sofa and the jigsaw is on the coffee table. May not end well. I am thinking some kind of board may need to be bought? will go an app and see if I can post a pic.

I’ve never really been into jigsaws.
I do love colouring in, though.
I find very therapeutic

I work in a library and we have a table where there is always a jigsaw puzzle set up for anyone (adults) to work on. A great stress reliever.

flashdancer19 · 14/08/2019 05:49

It is a 1,000 of Polerro harbour in Cornwall - I used to live near there years ago. My bloody husband is a jigsaw wizard and came home and joined in bastard..

LTB!

You've given me the itch for a jigsaw. I used to do them loads.

oldmumnewmum · 14/08/2019 08:13

for those of you struggling with where to do your jigsaw so it does't get knocked off a table...you can do jigsaws online...please don't ask me how i know this...

Dhalandchips · 14/08/2019 08:40

I may have to go jigsaw shopping...

pigsDOfly · 14/08/2019 09:57

MollysMummy2010 Cat on the sofa, puzzle on the table. That has the potential to end really badly.

Cat is going to leap from the sofa onto the table knocking half of the puzzle off the table. Cat will then sit on top of what remains and spent a few minutes, washing and knocking loose bits of puzzle onto the floor with a paw.

Most of rest of the puzzle will be knocked off the table when cat, finely feeling bored by the whole thing, springs from the table back onto the sofa.

And if you leave the box open anywhere the cat is going to sit in it, get up with several bits of puzzle attached to his/her fur and go out for a wee. Those bits of puzzle will be gone forever.

Might as well give up now.

PalmersGreen · 14/08/2019 11:57

MollysMummy2010 I have tried every kind of “magnetic” board and rollup available. Short of just having a big bit of plywood which you can move from place to place, they don’t work! If anyone has a link to one, please post.

Jesse70 · 14/08/2019 17:02

You can get personalised jigsaws ! Male great presents I think everyone loves a good jigsaw.
Yeah stick it on a mat and slide it under the sofa or wrap it in cling film haha

gingerscot · 14/08/2019 17:40

I have a special puzzle board! It closes over the jigsaw and you can slide under sofa/table away from pesky cats.

Love a jigsaw.

pigsDOfly · 14/08/2019 19:41

gingerscot Where did you get your puzzle board? I'd love something like that. Is it big enough to fit 1,000 piece puzzle on?

I generally do mine on the dining table, which is very inconvenient when you have guests.

Sparklypurpleunicornsaremyfav · 14/08/2019 23:01

Haven't done a jigsaw in ages, when our son was younger, me, him and husband used to love doing them, the Where's wally ones were amazing!!!

KaleidoscopeEyes · 14/08/2019 23:06

I have a jigsaw app and a colouring app on my phone, and I do both of them loads, I use the colouring one at some point every day. I'm 49 Grin

ParrotsForLife · 15/08/2019 20:50

So I joined my local library today purely to borrow jigsaws!

galvantula · 15/08/2019 21:02

My parents have ones like gingerscot.

I think I saw some in The Works, but you can get them on Amazon etc.

randomchap · 15/08/2019 21:04

I love doing jigsaws, gives me something for my hands to do while chatting.

One of my mates is a wrong'un though, he starts them from the middle, not the edge

Sexnotgender · 15/08/2019 21:05

Love a jigsaw. We had one that was 1000 pieces and they were all shades of bloody grey making up a city scene.

Took FOREVER.

StCharlotte · 15/08/2019 21:15

I am worried about this as the cat is asleep on the sofa and the jigsaw is on the coffee table.

My last cat died earlier this year and I started a jigsaw I'd had for years. It was the only positive thing about not having a cat. My sister has since passed on loads to me.

There's a company online that makes jigsaws of your photos.

DerelictWreck · 15/08/2019 21:20

I'm in my 20s and love a jigsaw! I've progressed to doing them without the picture for a challenge Grin

Iwanttoflyaway · 15/08/2019 21:45

I love love love doing jigsaws and always buy the 1000 piece ones. I use a cork board and slide under my sofa when I'm not working on it. Best investment yet

pigsDOfly · 16/08/2019 15:05

galvantula Thanks for that info. I shall have a look next time I'm near one of their shops.

TimeIhadaNameChange · 16/08/2019 15:12

I started one at Christmas of the London Underground map. The lines were easy - did them in in a few hours. Which then left me with the white background....

I did leave it out for a few weeks before rolling it up and putting it away. I'll finish it at some point. Maybe!

mangomama91 · 16/08/2019 15:20

I LOVE puzzles!!
Husband and I are both 27 and a few years ago we started a tradition of buying ourselves a new 1000 piece Disney puzzle every Christmas.
