Dd’s Goldfish. She got sick, I bought medicine from the vet, she died in front of my eyes. We’d had her 2 weeks. It was 10 years ago and I’m still traumatised.

CandleWithHair · 12/08/2019 19:46

What kind of idiot reaches the age of 16 without realising cats can scratch?

Summerunderway · 12/08/2019 19:46

Once on holiday, ds 18+ text dh to tell him he had got an iguana.
Could possibly grow to 7 foot long Google told me.
Ds lived at home....

Got home and ds had built a very suitable and very large cage /vivarium.
In my front room.

Ds moved out..
His new pad wasn't big enough for Frank and his tank.

We moved too and took bigger than started off iguana with us.
Unfortunately male iguanas can be temperamental to a females cycle....
Best useful info you have read eh??
Guess who got bitten by escapee iguana?
As we were leaving for a day out. ...
Didn't see a Dr as realistically should have..
Arm wasn't pleasant for a few weeks.
Frank now lives with a reptile expert in a converted garage!!

Dave the bastard rabbit. The other two were delightful but dave was a vicious angry sod.

We ended up converting the garden into a rabbit paradise and just left him to his business. Which was chasing cats, digging holes and destroying plants

pigear · 12/08/2019 19:48

Madagascan hissing cockroaches. Did all the research. Did not find the information that females once mated can store sperm and have many, many, many litters of babies.

And no matter how well you think you have sealed the Viv, the babies will still escape.

AveAtqueVale · 12/08/2019 19:48

Psychopathic rabbit, rescued as from a live food market. Was told by vet it was female and unlikely to grow much. Both incorrect. It viciously attacked anyone and anything that came near it - other rabbits, humans, our cat...

Hoppinggreen · 12/08/2019 19:53

When I was about 6 or 7 my Grandad got me a rabbit
It was a stud rabbit form a mate of his and was huge and completely evil. My Mum insisted it went back

HeyYouWhatToDo · 12/08/2019 19:53

There was the Houdini hamster that could escape it's cage and had a thing for biting my toes as I searched for it. I wasn't too upset when while searching for Houdini, the cat got in my room and found him first...little shit should have stayed where it was safe!!!

Or the chicken, I raised from a chick then one day bit my face and drew blood...think it got a taste for blood as from that day on it would run across the garden to attack me. The postman was also a target and wouldn't come in the garden if it was loose.

bobstersmum · 12/08/2019 19:55

All the hate for hamsters! We have a hamster and he's ace, he's so friendly and funny and he doesn't smell at all. His little face cheers me up when he comes out rattling the bars wanting a treat, haha!

bushes · 12/08/2019 19:56

I have to chime in here in defence of hamsters...I have one (well, technically he's DS's) and he is the loveliest, fluffiest, friendliest little thing. Never bitten or escaped. He smells sweet and clean. I enjoy having a good sniff of his fur when he comes out for a run in the evenings.

But I do appreciate that a lot of hamsters are pure arseholes.

Davros · 12/08/2019 19:58

A python (not big)

My son wanted one so I gave in ... big mistake! I ended up feeding it dead chicks which were revolting! I sold it on ebay.

historysock · 12/08/2019 20:04

Another vote for hamster. They are a bit pointless as a pet really

DontCallMeShitley · 12/08/2019 20:04

I had an elephant, an African adult one. It knocked the house down and left big heaps of shit around the place. Was very useful to get a ride to the shops though.

LifeBeginsNow · 12/08/2019 20:05

I was walking towards my bedroom one day (aged about 13/14) and as I approached the door I could hear something really odd and loud enough to hear through a closed door.

With my heart beating like mad and not sure whether to run and hide, I opened the door. The sound stopped. I walked in further and it started up again. My eyes narrowed in on the bin where my little hamster was scratching around on a piece of paper and causing the sound to echo. Little bugger had escaped (from a fish tank so you wouldn't think he could grip to get up the sides)!

That hamster was forever escaping. He once landed on my pillow while I was fast asleep (he was in the tank on my desk).

CountSnackula · 12/08/2019 20:06

I had a hamster and it was a cunt.

MrsGrindah · 12/08/2019 20:06

clawdiaPYou win! Laughing at that image!

Rainbowknickers · 12/08/2019 20:07

2 rabbits
16 years apart
Both would run and growl at us while trying to bite
Louisa-no1 rabbit died of old age
Skippy the 2nd rabbit managed to claw a hole in her hutch and lived in my parents street for 2 years
My dad managed to catch it and she came to my house for some reason
Bloody thing gave birth and just ignored the babies
Got quite a shock that morning!
She died not long after

Never ever again...

MyFokMarelize · 12/08/2019 20:07

My Komodo Dragon was a fucking anti-social bastard. Bit the Vicar once. I'm still doing penance for that.
Don't get a Komodo Dragon. Horrible fuckers.

Davros · 12/08/2019 20:08

I don't like pets in cages, especially when they escape.

Blessedwithboys · 12/08/2019 20:09

African snails!

FrenchyQ · 12/08/2019 20:11

A kitten...boyfriend at the time brought him home from the farm he worked on. Kitten was half feral, we tried training him but nothing worked and he liked to attack my baby daughters feet. So we ended up giving him to boyfriends Mum...he lived a very long happy life at her house.
