I've got a couple. Bumped into someone I met on holiday in Cyprus. We started talking and she them saw someone else she'd met in London on a previous visit. She was from Australia.
When we were living in LA, we went to Paris and met another family from there. and we shared a clearer back in LA!

We bumped into the poor sod who was DS1's form tutor in the south of France on the first day of his holiday. He did not seem pleased when DS bounded up!

I was hitchhiking in Switzerland once, and the bloke who gave me a lift was the best mate of the bloke whose kids I babysat back in Wales.

Tenby Dinosaur Park, blisteringly hot day, hardly anybody there ... and bumped into a work colleague who had moved roles less than six months previously!

makingmammaries · 12/08/2019 19:26

In the Namibian desert, bumped into a group of colleagues who had taken a small plane from Windhoek.

Met a former colleague on holiday in Oman, 11 years after we had last worked together.

MyFokMarelize · 12/08/2019 19:27

Met a guy I used to work with in Zimbabwe at a car boot sale in Epsom. Hadn't seen him for 20 years or so. I knew he was unlikely to be in Zimbabwe because we were both there temporarily but had no idea at all that he'd relocated to the UK.

I met someone I used to work with in a mall in Toronto

My DB and DSIL were on holiday in Vietnam. Met an Australian couple one day and got chatting, went out for dinner with them. DB knows one person from Australia - his godfather. Jokingly said, I wonder if you know him and was flabbergasted when not only did they know him but were very good friends and were going round to his house for dinner on their return! No one mentioned it to the godfather until the Australian couple showed him some of their holiday photos - with DB and DSIL in, who he obviously recognised straight away!

We bumped into my DF's boss on holiday in Ireland when I was a kid. At a whisky distillery.

beccarocksbaby · 12/08/2019 19:31

Richard Ashcroft I bumped into repeatedly in Majorca. Like everywhere I went and at the height of his fame. I was 16 and he must have thought we were stalking him but it was total coincidence.

My aunt, uncle and cousins in McDonalds in Florida. Didn't know they were there and back in the days when Maccies was a treat!

stucknoue · 12/08/2019 19:32

Met a guy I worked with in London whilst in Pike Place market in Seattle. Years prior bumped into my dad's biggest client in La Rochelle

HeroicAlien · 12/08/2019 19:33

For some reason I tend to bump in to people in foreign theme parks. Disneyland Paris - met someone from work in a ride queue (extra of as neither of us had children at the time!). Then years later, someone from my NCT group in Legoland Denmark.

We're going to Disneyland in Florida next year, so waiting with bated breath to see who we meet there!

PutyourtoponTrevor · 12/08/2019 19:33

In our hotel in Mexico, bumped into a colleague

Swifey40 · 12/08/2019 19:36

I met a friend from prep school who was the year above me, at the border control cafe going from Kenya to Uganda!! I heard her voice and someone call Kate and just knew it was her, turned around and there she was! Weirdest thing ever, hasn't seen her for nearly 15 years and had no idea she was in Africa, let alone the exact spot I was!!

Helloitsmemargaret · 12/08/2019 19:36

I met this girl backpacking in Australia, staying at the same hostel. A year of so later having slowly made my way home ended up living next door to her in London.

elliejjtiny · 12/08/2019 19:36

Not that weird but I am always bumping into people in hospital waiting rooms.

LeZa · 12/08/2019 19:36

Made friends with a guy when in Greece and a few months later when I got home and had my photos developed (shows my age!) I noticed he was in the background of a photo I had taken in Switzerland!

MoltoAgitato · 12/08/2019 19:37

The brother of a school friend in a lift in Hong Kong.

MrsDragonLady · 12/08/2019 19:37

My aunt and uncle in menorca. They were on a cruise and it had stopped off at a port that we happened to be passing on that day!

Piffpaffpoff · 12/08/2019 19:38

MadameJosephine · 12/08/2019 19:38

I bumped into my very recent ex and his new girlfriend (later found out we ‘overlapped’) in a youth hostel in Los Angeles

Littlewhitedove · 12/08/2019 19:41

When I was about 14/15 in the toilets of a Motorway service station in the middle of France we bumped into cousins who had also stopped for toilet break. Very very weird. We all had a drink and went on our way.

sueelleker · 12/08/2019 19:41

My SIL was a primary school teacher, and wherever she went on holiday it was almost guaranteed some child would say "hello Miss*"

thatmustbenigelwiththebrie · 12/08/2019 19:43

Went cycling in Italy and got chatting to a few blokes. Went on our way. Two years later bumped into the same guys in the Scottish highlands.

We also bumped into our next door neighbour - in a tiny bakery in Switzerland.
