To think adults believing in ghosts are odd

Hi,

Aibu to think grown adults believing in ghosts is a bit odd?

I have an acquaintance who is also going on about going on ghost hunts and 'investigations' at supposed haunted sights. Of course they always seem to come back from them and say the evenings where 'quiet'.

I feel it's a bit odd that a grown adult can believe in this sort of thing. They're obviously not hurting anyone with this hobby but I find it so strange they're certain that ghosts exist.

I used to live in a brand new house and everything I had inside was new. We suddenly lost my nan and a couple of weeks later I was standing in my hallway putting something under the stairs when this smell come around me, absolutely stunk, I knew the smell but couldn’t put my finger on it, the smell was only in one spot then it came to me, it smelt like my grandads work coat, that was chucked away when he retired about 15 years before he died 2 years before my nan. There was no trace of my grandads things in the house as it was new and like I said everything else was so the smell wasn’t off anything else. Very comforting moment. I’d also experienced my grandad in my sleep before too. I work in a hospital so have experienced odd things there too.

I'm fascinated by the paranormal but I don't believe in ghosts; I just know that the human brain is an astonishing thing. I wish ghosts existed, I'd love to see one, but they don't.

I live in my parents' old house. I sleep in the room in which my mum died, in pain, after a long and miserable illness which meant that she sometimes spent days and weeks on end bedridden. Perfect background for a haunting, right? Well, I'd love to be able to say that she haunts my bedroom, but so far, nada. No noises, no visions, no apparitions, she doesn't move anything or hide anything or even open any bloody wardrobes, despite my hopes. I'd love to see her again, but she's not playing ball because, well... sadly she's dead.

I saw my dead FIL standing over the bed I was in, 3 days after he had died in the house. It was completely real feeling, I felt certain I was awake. I was very upset about it.

The thing is that its very very possible to feel totally awake while you are asleep. So being open minded and taking all the evidence into account, its really bloody obvious what happened.

My assessment of this experience is that I was in fact still asleep.
