I'm having a boards game evening with family tomorrow night. The amount of board games out there is making it difficult to choose from so I thought I'd come ask you lovely lot. There will 4-5 adults and 2 children (8yo and 6yo)
I already have monopoly, pie face and operation for the kids
And I have speak out and an eletric shock game for the adults.
Thanks in advance ☺️

Not a board game but Uno is always a winner in this house with kids and adults.

The 5 second rule game is good and quick

UnicornCat · 09/08/2019 11:43

I really like Tension and the Logo series, they're suitable for all really.

Vgbeat · 09/08/2019 11:43

Or when the kids go to bed cards against humanity

lavenderbluedilly · 09/08/2019 11:44

I love Cranium and Junior trivial pursuit.

Agree with 5 second rule

Oh and dobble

PixieLumos · 09/08/2019 11:44

Cards against humanity for the adults, if that’s your kind of humour. If you’ve got lots of people Cluedo can be great too!

vbhafjlb · 09/08/2019 11:47

Cheating Moth
Exploding Kittens
Dobble
Braggart
The Bloody Inn
Marrying Mr Darcy
Coup
Galaxy Trucker
Pandemic
Small World
Cash 'n Guns
Bananagrams
Celestia
Cat Lady
Welcome to the Dungeon
In a Bind
Unstable Unicorns

Colour brain is a winner - really easy for all age groups

newmomof1 · 09/08/2019 11:51

Trivial pursuit - we have a party edition which is much quicker to play than the traditional version. I think there's also a kids edition.

But if you do play monopoly be wary that it could wipe out your whole night.
I remember when we were kids myself and 4 siblings started playing at 6pm on Xmas eve and finished at about 2am Grin

anyoneneedabodygaurd · 09/08/2019 11:51

Rummikub is a big favourite in our house, kids can play too

AmbitiousHalibut · 09/08/2019 11:51

We love Mysteries of Old Peking too! My kids also enjoy Saboteur (I think that's what it's called - it has dwarves and gold!) Pandemic, Scotland Yard and old fashioned card games too.

Dommina · 09/08/2019 11:52

Don't panic!
Fantastic game

edwinbear · 09/08/2019 11:53

Labyrinth is brilliant. I hate board games ordinarily but always happy to play this.

Mayvis · 09/08/2019 11:53

We have similar age children and enjoy playing Bananagrams, Qwordie and Scattergories as a family.

WednesdaySpinner · 09/08/2019 11:54

Articulate and any of the Logo games

AlmostAlwyn · 09/08/2019 11:54

Dixit is a great game! You have to be really creative and no two games are the same!

ineedaholidaynow · 09/08/2019 11:55

The Crystal Maze
The Big Taboo
Sherlock Holmes (will be too difficult for the DC)
Forbidden Island

EugenesAxe · 09/08/2019 11:58

Collaborative board games are good fun. Castle Panic is good for children and adults, things like Pandemic and Forbidden Island (et al.) good for adults and older children.

Also love Articulate! You can get a children’s version to use alongside the standard. Pictionary and (if you can find it) the original Game of Life are also great.

Recently had some great laughs with a game called Bring Your Own Book. You find a phrase/ sentence/ adjacent sentences in a book that fulfils a category card e.g. ‘something you’d hate to receive for Christmas’. Use a mix of books for best laughs and swap regularly; adult fiction, children’s fiction, non-fiction, practical books e.g. first aid/ cooking/ DIY. I think it’s a bit like another game ‘Apples to Apples’. I’ve heard Cards Against Humanity is hilarious but depending on who you’re with can be a bit excruciating. I think my friend said it made her see the worse sides of people and she didn’t always like it.

One deck dungeon
Mysterium is great but I’d really say from 8 upwards for that.
Mystic Scrolls
The Refuge
Alley cats!!!!
