Been saving for a cheap UK break.
Boyfriend said he was going to sort it as a surprise.
It was a surprise all right.
He has booked a caravan park (park dene resorts) less than 10 minutes from our house for a week.
Now it's not the fact it's a caravan,I enjoy a little caravan trip ...but 10 mins from our house...what is the point.
Nothing new to explore,or towns close by to visit that we don't go to all the time.
It's cost £409 for a week (well Monday to Friday )
Would you be a bit miffed ?

OP posts:
iamclaireandfleabag · 09/08/2019 18:34

@Gatekeeper chilton club 😂😂😂 it was Friday night there for me hoping my mates dad who was a member didn't see us in the club room from the bar as we were only 15!

Ginger1982 · 09/08/2019 18:54

Well as long as you're happy not knowing where £109 went OP. I wouldn't be.

MulticolourMophead · 09/08/2019 19:01

The lying bothers me. I would have to ask where the other £109 went.

Dowser · 09/08/2019 19:07

Omg... yes no
I know the exact one you mean
You poor things
As you know there’s not even a pub you can walk to or a tea room
Although I understand there’s a clubhouse

How little imagination he has

We often have a drive to that coast and watch the holiday makers all dressed in new holiday clothes set off towards the dene no doubt looking for a tea room or ice cream parlour and come back half an hour later looking dejected

I’d bin him

StudentHelp · 09/08/2019 19:18

ask about the money, OP

CoraPirbright · 09/08/2019 19:19

Really chuffed you managed to swap the holidays but really confused about the money thing. Seriously, is he a) a fucking moron or b) stealing from you? Or possibly c) both? I would really like to know!

SauvignonBlanche · 09/08/2019 19:26

Glad to hear you’ve managed to swap sites Grin

Soubriquet · 09/08/2019 19:42

Sorry it sounds like he’s booked local on purpose and then pocketed the spare all for the same reason

Partying with his mates or a woman on the side

hotsouple · 09/08/2019 19:42

Maybe its for drugs and he wanted to vacation nearby so he wouldn't be too far away from his dealer? IDK but it would drive me insane not to know

tolerable · 09/08/2019 19:43

if its a "chain" can they not rebook for another site???no refund required for that

Dowser · 09/08/2019 19:52

Shops? 😂
Visit a ‘ house’ nearby? 😂
You all need to take a trip ... there’s nothing around it
In its heyday it had beach huts Down in the dene that protected you from the raw ne chill of the wind
A paddling pool
A bandstand
A kiosk selling ice cream and drinks
You could drive your car down

There’s bott all down there now and you can’t even take your car down

It’s like someone thought we will open a caravan site there but I’m damned if we will give the poor buggers any holiday amenities

If you go to gulag crimdon ...be prepared to knock yourself out with it

Glad you’ve got s holiday destination at last op

HazelBite · 09/08/2019 19:59

OP bit of advice, the nearest supermarket to Tummel Valley site (there is a small on site shop) is a Co-Op in Pitlochry which is about 10 miles away. You would be wise to stock up on your way there perhaps in Perth at one of the bigger Supermarkets.
It is a beautiful area, Cluny Gardens is worth a visit, full of red squirrels, Loch Tay is lovely too!
Have a wonderful holiday

BathshebaKnickerStickers · 09/08/2019 20:02

Perthshire is where i’m from - have a wonderful time

BuildBuildings · 09/08/2019 20:13

I'm sorry op but lying about the cost is really concerning. With his need to keep travelling costs down it makes me think he could have money problems.

Nomoremilk · 09/08/2019 20:20

Why are you OK with this missing money? Sounds a weird dynamic.

GabsAlot · 09/08/2019 20:22

youve both been saving hard for a holiday but hes allowed to do what he wants with it?

MostlyHappyMummy · 09/08/2019 20:30

Very odd that you're not bothered about the lying nor the missing money.

Too odd for my brain to be able to compute

howdyalikemenow · 09/08/2019 20:45

I'd definitely be a bit pissed off about the money!!

Chickenwing · 09/08/2019 21:01

I think you're being a little mean. It's a bit rubbish but he tried to do something nice. And you can make the most of it play board games and stuff. I love caravan holidays!

Chickenwing · 09/08/2019 21:10

Ps didn't read full post whoops.

Didntwanttochangemyname · 09/08/2019 21:19

This whole thing is weird, how can you not be fussed about your partner taking money from your joint savings, lying to you, behaving very strangely.... It doesn't make sense.

C0untDucku1a · 09/08/2019 21:25

It sounds like he has secret money issues. This behaviour isnt healthy or normal. Don’t accept it.

Gson · 09/08/2019 21:28

If its done though a big company - could you see if you can transfer to another site?

Sorry to hear - I hope you enjoy it either way and it'll be relaxing for you. x

pazwaz70 · 09/08/2019 21:31

I live near you, I would be absolutely bouncing. Some men are fucking useless!
He could have at least booked Redcar or Scarborough!

happycamper11 · 09/08/2019 21:32

Do you know we do this all the time, a bit more than 10 minutes tbf, maybe 20 - 30 depending on traffic but it's going from city (although costal) to semi rural so different beach and some inland bits to explore. I find the parks have the same facilities and entertainment wherever you go so it saves the hassle and the 'are we nearly there yet' we did similar with a camping trip this year too. If it's your only holiday though or if there really is nothing new around the site (woods, different each etc) then it does sound pretty crap.
