Been saving for a cheap UK break.
Boyfriend said he was going to sort it as a surprise.
It was a surprise all right.
He has booked a caravan park (park dene resorts) less than 10 minutes from our house for a week.
Now it's not the fact it's a caravan,I enjoy a little caravan trip ...but 10 mins from our house...what is the point.
Nothing new to explore,or towns close by to visit that we don't go to all the time.
It's cost £409 for a week (well Monday to Friday )
Would you be a bit miffed ?

Is it just the two of you? We went to Nice for £500 for a week Hmm

AnneKipanki · 09/08/2019 09:51

Nice view @Martha

TheRLodger · 09/08/2019 09:53

At least you know where everything is in the local supplies when you go get supplies m. Instead of the aimless wonderings if someone who is actually on holiday as they don’t know where anything is

Travis1 · 09/08/2019 09:54

Fingers crossed you can get it changed!

Smelborp · 09/08/2019 09:59

I hope you can get it changed. I’m not sure I could cope with that level of stupid.

Bumblenut · 09/08/2019 10:03

I was going to ask if he used to go there on holiday as a kid so it’s a holiday place to him. I used to teach a kids class in Hartlepool and a few of them used to go to crimdon dene for their holiday.

At an hour an a half to Scotland you can easily do a day trip. Make sure he drives do you can enjoy a few holiday drinks :)

MargoLovebutter · 09/08/2019 10:04

That would make me feel violent inside!!!! I'd rather have saved the £400 and stayed at home and done some nice day trips instead.

Could you sell it on to someone else, even if you can't get a refund.

JingsMahBucket · 09/08/2019 10:05

@MargoLovebutter That would make me feel violent inside!!!!

😂😂 I’m going to steal that to use it later!

ChuckleBuckles · 09/08/2019 10:09

I think I would combust if I had spent the year saving for a holiday only to then end up somewhere 8 minutes away. It takes longer to get to Boots for Imodium for the shits that you would get on any other holiday.

I hope you get this sorted OP.

MyOtherProfile · 09/08/2019 10:12

Any joy OP?

Ninkaninus · 09/08/2019 10:15

He’s either really dumb or really boring, neither of which I’d have any patience for. I actually would be beyond angry (LIVID, maybe) at such a ridiculous waste of carefully saved money and more so at his obvious stupidity.

Maybe he’s actually very clever and trying to get you to break up with him?

Motoko · 09/08/2019 10:16

To all the pps saying he must be winding OP up, she's seen the confirmation. It's not a wind up, he really is just that stupid.

Oldraver · 09/08/2019 10:20

OP...We once stayed at the Premier Inn in Newton Aycliife Monday to Friday for something ridiculous like £89...Even the Holiday Inn would be cheaper

QuestionableMouse · 09/08/2019 10:25

I'd be furious too. Crimdon Dene is a bit bleak at the best of times. (Grew up in Hartlepool, been there many times) Chuck him over the cliffs on the first night.

Also the site is a bit lacking and its always bloody freezing due to the location.

I'd phone and throw yourself on their mercy. Hopefully they can do something.

Violashift · 09/08/2019 10:26

Ahhh the Gretna. Think we paid £29 for one night.

There are so many caravan parks not far from you. Northumberland would have been better.
Is he a home bird who doesn't like travelling? My Mum is like this won't leave the North East.

Hope you can get it changed.

QuestionableMouse · 09/08/2019 10:28

Also as a born and bred monkey hanger, Hartlepool is a bit shit for a holiday. There's naff all to do and the traffic is bloody rubbish now due to the roadworks near Morrisons!

Icklepup · 09/08/2019 10:32

LTB...

Fairenuff · 09/08/2019 10:37

I wouldn't even go. What's the point. I couldn't be arsed with the packing.

MamaGee09 · 09/08/2019 10:41

We love caravan holidays but one 10 minutes from your house......... I’d be livid.

Contact parkdean and see if you can change it to another park, they are usually very helpful.

TixieLix · 09/08/2019 10:42

Tell him you've managed to upgrade to much nicer accommodation for no extra cost. On the day drive him round the block and pull up on your own drive again....ta-dah!!

AfterSchoolWorry · 09/08/2019 10:45

I'm kind of fascinated to know what was going on in his brain?

Ekefox · 09/08/2019 10:51

Op Park Dean customer service were excellent with us, you can call and they will usually move you or offer alternatives they've always been really helpful when I've called.

Oldraver · 09/08/2019 10:51

Yes OH always calls it The Gretna (and waffles on about the disco's there

One of the nights was only £19.. the PI isnt too bad but The Hungry Horse there is dire

StationView · 09/08/2019 11:01

Is he called Tom Archer?

(References recent Archers story line Grin)

YetAnotherSpartacus · 09/08/2019 11:06

Please try to get a refund. Please.

My OH's family used to do something similar. Holidays for them were camping in a local farmer's field. The kids (boys) got to run wild, to play and climb trees and paddle in the stream and suchlike. The father sat outside reading. The mother did her usual jobs but over a campfire.

Fuck that.
