Aibu to ask you to cast your mind back and give the advice you would have in the late 90’s

Here’s mine...

Want to lose weight? Eat what you want during the week and take recreational drugs at the weekend, it’s like the 5:2

Have frizzy hair! Not to worry, some John Frieda, and iron, and a brown paper bag will sort it.

Worried your dp has been faffing you around and cheating? If he says @you were on a break” all is ok

That's like the end bit of Human Traffic, the Sunday dinner.
I love that flm. Many happy memories.

Sundancer77 · 15/08/2019 18:55

@BiBiBirdie Great film..! I don’t remember that part, will have to revisit it, but remember it was s funny film 😅
I always remember my grandparents asking me loads of questions about my night, bless them, and having to remain pretty quiet/lie 🙈

MyKingdomForACaramel · 16/08/2019 23:31

Well it seems there’s call for a Mumsnet meet up where everyone drinks 20/20 wears bootleg jeans and dances to aqua Grin

That would scare the horses

"Take out this endowment mortgage, it will overpay your mortgage by about 30% and you'll be left with a chunk of money as well as the flat.." (it actually underpaid by 50%!)

BiBiBirdie · 17/08/2019 08:05

@MyKingdomForACaramel ...and Sun-In each others hair Grin

ghostyslovesheets · 17/08/2019 18:18

I am sat in a German campsite and listening to Barbie Girl who needs a meet up!

Scarscar · 17/08/2019 18:26

A gold Figaro style necklace and bracelet, with a gold sovereign ring, along with as many other gold rings you can cram on to your fingers will show how classy and cool you are. Elizabeth Duke is the bomb.

GoAwayRain · 17/08/2019 18:29

Puffa jackets. I think there was a brand called Down Impact if my memory is correct.
The bigger the better.

I had a red one. I looked like a fucking tomato with two twiglets for legs jammed in it. Blush

GoAwayRain · 17/08/2019 19:04

Fancy going red or burgundy haired? Simply apply coloured hair mousse and ta-da. Perfect no fuss red or burgundy hair.

Until.....

Either it rained or you got hot and sweaty dancing.
Then you looked like your head had been attacked by a mad axeman as rivers of water streaked down your face, neck, chest and back.

And ran into your top or, if you were lucky enough to avoid rain or sweat, rubbed off onto your pillowcase.

GoAwayRain · 17/08/2019 19:05

Rivers of red water.

DD is nearly 13 and has discovered black clothing (she heard Billie Eillish and now she's gone all dark and brooding).
Her godmother has just bought her round a huge bag of late nineties Criminal Damage, Punky Fish and other goth/skater/emo clothes that are her size, that her daughter had back then.
To say she is going to die when she comes home from her aunt's tomorrow is an understatement. Some of the tops are ones I had as a teen.
Hilarious after this thread

Rarfy · 17/08/2019 21:42

Oh wow, can you post any pics?

BiBiBirdie · 17/08/2019 22:08

I see if I can get her to model them

Namechangerextraordinaire1 · 18/08/2019 09:26

Oh yes pics would be fab. I was obsessed with punkyfish in the very early 00s

JacksonCage · 18/08/2019 10:03

Was Punkyfish the one where the zip in the hoodie went from one hip to the opposite shoulder in a sort of S shape?!

BiBiBirdie · 18/08/2019 11:03

@JacksonCage That was one of them yes, I had that one

BiBiBirdie · 18/08/2019 11:09

TeachesOfPeaches · 20/08/2019 18:44

Rewatching old episodes of Spaced and feeling very nostalgic. Just watched the episode where they go clubbing Grin

thenightsky · 20/08/2019 20:37

We ended up sitting up for half the night due to getting sucked into watching old episodes of Spaced a couple of weeks ago Grin

diet4eva · 20/08/2019 20:51

@Starlive23 I had forgotten about the steam straighteners! I seem to remember I saved up some tokens from somewhere to get mine. The bloody things just burnt everything!
