to not own up to eating the nuggets?

The other day a couple of my workmates got McDonald’s for lunch. They were in the break room whilst I was but finished before me and left all their rubbish on the table. I got up to clear it up and noticed a box of 6 nuggets had been left amongst the mess. I got a bit greedy and demolished them Blush I was due my period and trying really really hard not to eat junk food but I couldn’t resist them. I thought they were not wanted.

Anyway about an hour later my other colleague came back from an appointment and one of the colleagues who had been to McDonald’s said “your nuggets are in the break room”. I then realised they weren’t leftovers at all and I’d eaten my workmates nugs! Sad

I felt really bad but was too scared to say anything and it’s turned into a bit of a witch hunt round the office. The thing is so many people had been into the break room it’s almost impossible to pin it on me. I managed to get into work early the other day, slip £5 into my colleagues desk to cover the nuggets then went out for a coffee and came back to the office at normal starting time.

But people are still going on about who the nugget thief is and the longer it goes on the more worried I am about saying it was me.

@GreenFingersWouldBeHandy there was a good hour BETWEEN me eating them (when they were warm) and it being discovered. Although it did mean my colleague would have eaten cold nugs Confused

Honestly I think I'd just let the mystery nugget water conspiracy carry over into office (or whenever you work) legend. You should buy some food, leave it in back room, sneak in and eat it - the nugget nasher strikes again! Grin it's too awkward to admit now...

GhostBusting · 08/08/2019 15:32

and fwiw, I get like this pre period too. I have no idea what hormone it is that does it, but any junk food is like the pot at the end of the rainbow when I have PMT.

Mesmermancer · 08/08/2019 15:32

Mystery nugget eater.. not water

WeatherSchmeather · 08/08/2019 15:33

@GhostBusting More info required about the mystery shitter of 2009 please.

ivegonegreyfindingausername · 08/08/2019 15:33

Was the £5 you left mentioned?

CatInADoghouse · 08/08/2019 15:34

You should be ashamed! I'm on a diet and all I want are chicken nuggets now!!

Way too late to confess! Deny it!

WeatherSchmeather · 08/08/2019 15:39

Agreed you should put a picture of the Hamburglar up when no one’s around, along with a speech bubble saying “Ner-ner ni ner-ner, never gonnugget me.”

Corrieaddict · 08/08/2019 15:40

Cathadoghouse same here, I'm on a diet, but I'm also tired, due on an ravenous.

There seem to be lots of food related threads today.

Mummyoflittledragon · 08/08/2019 15:41

Ha ha. Never own up.

zvjezdica · 08/08/2019 15:41

OP if there's any way you can do what @WeatherSchmeather said, please for the love of all that is holy, do it. That would be hilarious.

GhostBusting · 08/08/2019 15:43

@WeatherSchmeather we had unisex loos at our old offices. And someone, about twice a week, would come in and do a massive loo blocking log first thing in the morning and then leave with their shit proudly on display for all to see. No attempt to bash it with the loo brush and get it down. It was enormous. Think award winning turd on something like rate my poo.

I sent out notes to all the staff, I put posters up reminding people to use the loo brush. I am really quite senior at work and it got to the point where I actually wanted to get the CCTV to see if I could narrow down the suspects going towards the loo area. Then I realised I did actually have a life that didn't revolve around the phantom shitter.

We eventually moved offices and got female/male loos back and the phantom shitter no longer bothered me but also confirmed my suspicions that it was a bloke but I could never say that as it would have been sexist

Eistigi · 08/08/2019 15:45

I'm adding my voice to the "Never, ever, ever own up" brigade! They'll give up eventually, and in the mean time just occasionally mutter something along the line of .... terrible behaviour..... can't imagine who'd do that..... mcnuggets are horrible anyway...

BobbyBrewstersMagicTorch · 08/08/2019 15:45

The thing is, it's intriguing to everyone else. They're probably not that bothered, but because it's a mystery they're enjoying playing detective.

I'd keep quiet about it. I wouldn't take in cupcakes as that makes you look guilty.

MonstranceClock · 08/08/2019 15:47

You've left it too late to own up now, I'd think you were a real bellend if you were my colleague.

It's also really disgusting that you ate them. You have no idea why they were left, they could've all been dropped on the floor which is why they were left.

WeatherSchmeather · 08/08/2019 15:48

Then I realised I did actually have a life that didn't revolve around the phantom shitter.

This thread has totally made my day after what has been a totally, horrifically shithouse couple of weeks. Love your work, OP, @GhostBusting and all the other good people following. And thank you. Smile

NuggieThief · 08/08/2019 15:52

@MonstranceClock I was in the break room when my colleagues brought the McDonald’s in and I was still in the break room when they went back to work. I was literally sat opposite my colleagues and the food and they weren’t dropped on the floor, they weren’t even touched (obviously, because they were meant for someone else)

Thanks all for cheering me up with your replies, I suppose it is quite a funny situation and one I must take to my grave!

Do not own up!
Do not in any way get involved in the "INVETIGATION" either - sure sign of a perp.
Do not repeat the giving of money nonsense or trying to right the wrong.
Dust yourself off, wipe your conscience clean and move on.
Just keep yourself to yourself safe and smug in the knowledge that you scored yourself some free nugs.

Huggybear16 · 08/08/2019 15:54

I think I'd suggest that the detectives were protesting too much.

AnastasiaVonBeaverhausen · 08/08/2019 15:54

Never ever ever surrender!!

isthatapugunicorn · 08/08/2019 15:56

Leave it. They’ll never know!

UserFriendly14 · 08/08/2019 15:59

I can imagine exactly how this is playing out in your office. We had a right Nancy Drew at our work and it was a wasted second if she wasn't gossiping/speculating about something or other.

Personally OP, I'd just keep it to myself as a sly little private joke. Any time it's brought up, just smile to yourself and remember how good those nuggets were and how it satisfied your PMT! Grin

plantwhisperer · 08/08/2019 15:59

Tbh they clearly have nothing better to do! Who would want 1hr old nuggets anyway? They get cold and gross within 10 minutes 😂

They shouldn't have left them out WITH all their rubbish should they? I'd just say you cleaned it all up and chucked it in the bin as no one else bothered to and didn't realise there was leftover food for someone else.🤷🏻‍♀️ Their fault imo.

AnastasiaVonBeaverhausen · 08/08/2019 16:00

Gaaaahh I really want some crispy fatty nuggets now

livefornaps · 08/08/2019 16:00

This is too funny. I would have scoffed them, too
