I volunteer in a large charity shop chain. We have boxes of CHristmas Cards in the back shop and are under instruction from Head Office to get them on the shelves on 19th August.

Volunteers are staging a revolt and refusing to have anything to do with stocking the shelves with Christmas product until the start of October at the VERY earliest.

IceRebel · 07/08/2019 20:10

This was me today, in the Disney store. Confused

It's definitely to early.

OtraCosaMariposa · 07/08/2019 20:11

By the way I hate Christmas. Loathe and detest it. Hate the tat, the whole buy tat buy tat buy tat mentality.

It should be a once every five years event.

CrispSandwiches19 · 07/08/2019 20:12

I like it from Sept. It takes away the back to school blues.. I hate back to school.
I then start buying a bit weekly.

Gifts for kids I often buy thro the year but hope to move before Nov so putting that off at the moment.

Prisonbreak · 07/08/2019 20:12

My neighbour hasn’t taken last year’s decorations down. I wish I was kidding

LeekMunchingSheepShagger · 07/08/2019 20:14

I love Christmas it's my absolute favourite time of year and I get over excited about it in the manner of a 5 year old. Even I don't want to know about it til after bonfire night.

I assume you're joking. If I refused to do something my boss asked me to do I would be in bother.

RuggerHug · 07/08/2019 20:19

I adore Christmas and buy/plan all year round. Full on shop displays though are a bit much before mid November.

IceRebel · 07/08/2019 20:19

They're volunteers. Head office would be daft to lose a group of volunteers over this.

OtraCosaMariposa · 07/08/2019 20:21

*If I refused to do something my boss asked me to do I would be in bother.

We're volunteers!! If it gets fed back to Head Office that Christmas Cards in August is ridiculous than that's a good thing.

Ilnome · 07/08/2019 20:24

The only place I have seen Christmas stuff is in crafts shops but that’s self explanatory

ElizaDee · 07/08/2019 20:25

Selfridges opened their Christmas shop a few weeks ago.

RosaWaiting · 07/08/2019 20:26

Oh no, this would give me the rage
Good thing I don’t really do shops!

Pipandmum · 07/08/2019 20:27

What I hate more is back to school stuff before the kids break up for summer!

IceRebel · 07/08/2019 20:28

ElizaDee

A few weeks ago... as in when it was still July. That is ridiculous. Shock

TheBrockmans · 07/08/2019 20:28

Have seen some Christmas craft stuff in the Works. If anyone sees any Halloween stuff I am looking for bits for a party.

Figgygal · 07/08/2019 20:28

I love Christmas

At Christmas

There's no place for it in August

Holidayrec · 07/08/2019 20:29

I love Christmas so I don't mind [santa]

MiddleForDiddle · 07/08/2019 20:31

Love Christmas so much! I love seeing the card shops getting their Christmas stock in and planning colour schemes for the decorations.
I've already done a fair bit of gift shopping.

I know, I'm sad! Grin

HeadsDownThumbsUpEveryone · 07/08/2019 20:34

I love Christmas as much as the next person but why do we need decorations in shops in August. If it becomes acceptable to have them in shops 4 and 1/2 months early then why bother to even take them out in the first place?

We've not even had Halloween yet and I've seen Christmas stockings and decorations today.

OtraCosaMariposa · 07/08/2019 20:46

There's no place for it in August

Or September.

Or October.

BigFatLiar · 07/08/2019 20:49

One of the Movie channels was having a season of Christmas movies in July.

I was on a course with a woman who worked for a company that made/imported Christmas goods. They had carols & christmas music as background all year, she hated christmas music (and singing fish/reindeer etc).

Coquohvan · 07/08/2019 20:50

Bought a new tree bauble last month. Was in the Disneyland Paris Christmas shop.
It’s a beauty always buy one when we visit no matter the time of year. 😉

Beaverdam · 07/08/2019 20:51

Why are you annoyed? 🤣 just walk past them.

Nosavingshere · 07/08/2019 20:53

No, I’ve not had the pleasure, what shop was it so I can make a beeline.
